For our anniversary last year we stayed here. Very clean hotel with very helpful and courteous staff. It's located walking distance to many great restaurants, Bourbon Street, and the WW II Museum. Definitely will go back sometime in the future.

May is usually very hot and humid. Temperature usually above 90° and humid. They may have occasional storms only if it happens to be rain in the forecast for some particular reason. If so, it should not last more than 2 days. Hope you enjoy your trip when you visit...

Is free transportation provided to the cruise terminal?
I don't think so. However, the terminal is a short walk. Uber and Lyft are also possibilities.
