wonderful hotel. Charming, clean, warm and helpful staff, great location. Room was beautiful. We stayed here instead of at the Marriott where our conference was and I'm so glad we did. This hotel was so lovely and unique.

This hotel was referred to me by a friend and it did not disappoint! The hotel staff was wonderful, the rooms were great, and everything was clean. The location was by far the best part. I went with a friend and we are two young females. Not once did I feel unsafe. We walked EVERYWHERE. You are close enough to...

I like this hotel for its services and price. The free breakfast is good, and you can choose the size. The location of this hotel is perfect for sightseeing. It take about 20min from the airport by shuttle.

I had a great experience. The whole staff is wonderful. They helped set up restaurant and tour reservations. I also loved the music that was playing all during my stay it gave a sense of a lost era of New Orleans. The lobby was amazing with all the art work on display.

A very personable staff notwithstanding, the room itself was cold as a tomb regardless of the maintenance staff's efforts. I applaud staff attentiveness to my requests for heat, however. The bed was quite comfortable, the room clean. Garbage trucks making pickups at 5 am were annoying, perhaps just the location of the room in proximity to the ally.

The staff was absolutely amazing and helpful. There was no hassle to check in, the valet parking was fast and accessible and the hotel was perfect. The rooms were so cute. We got one with a balcony and we loved it. The breakfast in bed was also pleasing.

We were very well taken care of. Staff was very friendly and polite. Rooms were neat, clean and very comfortable. They made our stay there a pleasure. The courtyard was a nice common area but to cold outside to spend much time in that area during our stay. The doorman was very helpful.

I have now stayed here twice. I intentionally chose this one again, because it was so great the first time. The staff is fantastic! Everyone is extremely friendly...especially Ariel at the front desk. The beds were a teeny bit hard, but other than that. Great hotel! Definitely going to stay there again.

We came for a short visit before taking a cruise. The staff here is excellent and especially Michelle who registered us in. This is a building with a history and an ambience one doesn't get at a chain hotel. I will always book a room here when coming to New Orleans. It's close to many good restaurants and has an...

We were in town for a timeshare presentation and were put up for free at the St. James, so I can't speak much about value for the price spent. The hotel was very clean, very attractive, and the staff was very pleasant. The location is excellent -- within walking distance of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, also near mass...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
