Wecame in to do some business in town and brought clothes in case we needed to retrun the next day and we stayed. We got a great rate with parking and took it. We arrived, checked in, and went to our room, which was quite nice! Mmm... I guessed being an IHG One Rewards does pay off!. We made our way down to the bar. My wife ordered Pinot Grigio- they were out of it. She then wanted Rose'- they were out of that, too. Dejected, we went back to our room. The next morning I was taking a shower and could only get hot water, no matter which knob I used- hot water! My wife gets up to wash her face and guess what- only hot water. WOW! I reported it to the front desk. In the morning we wend down for breakfast. The menu was small but appetizing. My wife ordered the yogurt parfait, which came in a nice size bowl. I ordered the American Breakfast. Everything was done perfectly and just right, including my wife's Bloody Mary and my black tea. Service was excellent. Overall, except for those two issues, I would have givng it five stars. BTW, I did contact the place afterward and mentioned our two issues to make certain some else would know about it. We possibly may go back in the future!

Mowbass, thank you for choosing the voco St. James Hotel, an IHG Hotel. It's fantastic to know that our rooms proved satisfactory and our American Breakfast and service enhanced your experience. We deeply regret the lack of wine variety at our bar and the temperature inconsistency of the water from your room. Your feedback is essential and we ensure to address these aspects thoroughly. Despite this, it's encouraging to read that you might consider visiting us again in the future. We're looking forward to offering an even better experience on your next visit.

Hotel's Favorite
Loved the hotel, our room, the location. Beautiful room and bathroom - both to a high standard. The bed was huge an incredibly comfortable. The hotel was charming and had a lovely atmosphere Location was great very close the French quarter but just far enough away for a little peace and quiet. We had breakfast included in our rate and the food was lovely. Frank served us every morning and was friendly, attentive and service was first class. All the staff in the hotel were just lovely. Friendly, helpful. Brilliant. Loved it and would go back.

It was a lovely hotel with kind staff. Pictures are a bit deceiving. We had one issue with valet. However the staff did their best and rushed to help us make our appointment. They were attentive and helpful. Easy location to walk anywhere.

Hotels in New Orleans come with the french flair, so they are much more rustic (I think that is the word I would use to describe them). This hotel had the most gorgeous lobby I have ever sat in. The size of a living room, with huge shelves of books, chandeliers, velvet sofas and heavy wallpaper. I wish I had time to spend some time in there just enjoying the vibe. The receptionist was outstanding. The "lobby" is incredibly small, with only two desks and some little chairs to wait in if someone else was at the desk checking in. I love being given a bottle of water. It is those little things that make a difference. They told me I was getting an upgrade to a petite suite. I had hoped based on their advertising that I had a balcony. I had to walk through the "bar" which was a tiny bar with 4 tables through this super heavy door, out to a dark creepy courtyard to another building with super heavy doors. I mention that as I was traveling by myself and while not a lightweight, I had a difficult time opening those doors. Hotel said it was protection from the storms that hit New Orleans. I was always really worried walking through that dark courtyard at night, into what seemed to be an empty building with only an elevator and telephone on the wall. I kept thinking that was what all the old horror movies looked like. My room was a surprise, and so very different from any other hotel I have ever stayed in. It was hardwoods floors in this cute sitting room with a big screen, then a large bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub, and freezing cold slippery marble floor. The bedroom on the other side was the most unique of all. It was a huge four poster bed that was so tall they had to provide a stool with 3 steps at the end of the bed to climb into it. You then had to crawl up to the top to climb under the covers. It was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Incredible mattress, bedding and pillows. It was pure luxury that I wish I had at home. My view was of the "pool" which was also a fountain, that fit about 4 people. I was in meetings during the day so don't know if it was ever used but it was super creepy at night, as the only light in that courtyard was the "pool" lights that flickered, in this black dark area where you could just barely make out the big lounge chairs through all the foliage. No way was I trying out that pool or enjoying a night in that courtyard. If you like haunted and creepy, this is the right hotel. If you want something very different from a Holiday Inn, this is your hotel. If you like traditional hotels, this probably is not your place.

Close to the French quarter without the noise. Clean, exceptionally well maintained and pretty quiet. Good price even during Jazzfest. Ruby slipper down the street for breakfast. Not the friendliest though. Very little interaction with the staff. Also, next door The Chop House for dinner was nothing short of amazing!

Nice cozy hotel. Quite for the Business District. Clean and well maintained. It has a bar buy its expensive. Alcohol in New Orleans seems to be very expensive especially in hotel bars. Our room was large with a patio overlook. I would say that it is better than a street view for the noise from the traffic outside. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. We had a room with two queen beds that were very comfortable. The A/C was quite which I really appreciated. We were a block and a half from the Ruby Slipper. Good place breakfast but get there early. Easy walking distance to the French Quarter.

This is a lovely boutique hotel close to bourbon street but far enough away to feel like you might be staying in a paris hotel. The common areas like the sitting room, bar and outside courtyard are quaint and inviting spaces. The sitting room feels like a room right out of paris with the tall window doors, crown moldings, and comfy couches. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations . The rooms are smaller but well appointed and lovely! After a long day at the convention center, I enjoyed an adult beverage at the bar, a nice conversation with another guest in the sitting room to finally retiring to my room for a nice hot bath! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring and I am so happy I booked at the voco hotel on magazine street !!!! Baton Roule!

We visited New Orleans as a family (Mom, Dad, 2 boys 11 and 7) for the tail end of Mardi Gras and a few days after. We chose the St. James primarily for the location. The hotel is very charming and a bit quirky, likely due to the age of the buidling. Nevertheless it is quite well maintained and certainly isn't dingy in any way. Highlights: 1) The rooms are not very large but have high ceilings which prevents claustrophobia. 2) The location is really great - lots of restaurants around and walkable to the trolley. 3) Cafe Flament (lobby bar and restaurant) was quite good and reasonably priced. Frank, the bartender, chef and manager of Cafe Flament was friendly and obviously really knew how to run the cafe. 4) The staff were universally extra helpful and welcoming. This includes the front door men, lobby staff and maintenance crew. Nate at the front desk was especially helpful and informative but everyone was nice to be honest. 5) The lobby sitting area was beautiful and a nice way to relax with a drink or a snack after a day of sightseeing. Opportunities for Improvement: 1) We very much appreciated that the interior of the hotel was non-smoking but the courtyard which we needed to pass through to get to our room was the smoking area which meant that every time we went in and out of the hotel we had to go through a cloud. It also meant that my family couldn't use the courtyard at all. 2) The pool barely meets the definition. Although we were warned it wasn't heated (which is ok in 80 degree weather) it was pretty dirty and not really filtered. I would consider it more of a small fountain with a big pool that you MAY dip you feet into if you wanted. 3) We experienced a few maintenance issues with the room - a minor one was that the door handle to the bathroom fell off the first time we used. More annoying was that the chain in the toilet that allowed it to flush was disconnected and when we reconnected it caused the toilet to run continously. Not sure how the latter wasn't caught during room cleaning unless they didn't flush the toilet after cleaning it or didn't go through that process very carefully in the first place. Overall, a really nice hotel that I would absolutely stay in again when visiting New Orleans.

We fell in love with NOLA and so decided to spend another 2 nights there at the end of our road trip. We were unable to get a room in the hotel we had stayed in previously but were very pleased with this hotel. It’s very quaint and also quiet! Check in and check out were seamless! Our room was spotless! A little small but no worries, it had a definite charm. Quite central! Recommend
