Clean room and friendly staff. Valet was very quick as well. I will definitely be staying there again and would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay here. The location was also second to none.

This was a last minute spontaneous stay in New Orleans; and I happy I made the decision to stay... I loved every thing about the hotel and the location. The guy who checked me in was really really kinda and informative.

Where is the Wifi? Really enjoyed the historic feel of the hotel, but high speed Internet that doesn't continually go out is not too much to ask. Loved the location of the hotel and the staff was helpful.

We stayed here for a weekend visit and really enjoyed the hotel. Our room was big with a nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. The location is very convenient, between Canal and Poydras, outside the congestion and noise of the Quarter and just a short walk to the World War II Museum. Our room, in the rear building, was very...

Overall, this was an average hotel. The location is convenient to the French Quater. Breakfast was simple, coffe, juice and croissant. Staff was nice. Valet parking fee was outrageous. I would definitely use public parking just across the street. We didn't know it was so close to the hotel.

This hotel is charming, beautiful, and well cared for. The rooms are nice and big. Within walking distance to all the action, or one block from street cars. Far enough away that it is quiet. Parking in gated lot across the street. Every morning you can get free hot croissants, coffee, and tea. This was our first time in new...

Loved the atmosphere of hotel & room. Perfect for our first time in New Orleans. Close to French Quarter but far enough away to be quiet. Nice to have breakfast delivered to the room each morning. Will definitely stay here again.

Please make sure that you are not given room 116. It shouldn't be offered to anyone. Extremely noisy room: it is in the middle of a corridor and people don't stop coming in and out at all hours (only rest was from 3am to 7am). The doors slam so badly that the walls of the room are just shaking constantly....

Dear smarmorine, We are thrilled you enjoyed your football weekend! Thank you particularly for mentioning our NOLA style. We have put a lot of thought into modernizing our historic building in which the St. James is housed and we love it when someone notices! We hope to see you again next year for the football weekend or any other time!...

This hotel is a quiet place in a modernized old building on Magazine street, west of Canal, an easy walk into the French quarter and down to the Mississippi river. House of Blues and Red Grill are just minutes away.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
