Liked this place everyone was very friendly. Close enough to French qtr but still quiet. Fourth floor rooms have a private balcony (rooms 401, 402, 403). Internet was a bit spotty but cable TV was nice, lots of channels.

I enjoyed our stay at the St. James. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The room was great. The breakfast though small was very tasty and I liked that they brought it to our room and gave different times to have it brought to us. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to New Orleans.

The Hotel is nothing special and the Valet Parking for $38.00 night is a scam. The staff refused to tell us of any parking alternatives. As it turns out, there is a public lot just around the corner for $19.00 a night. The uncooperative attitude of the front desk person when checking in was uncomfortable.

We didn't want to stay on Bourbon St. but wanted to be close. My wife and i like to explore the city so we wanted to be in an area where we could be central to many of the neighborhoods. This hotel seemed like a great choice. The Ruby Slipper and Mother's are really close for a great breakfast or...

We have stayed here twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The hotel is small and quaint with tons of character and charm. They bring coffee, juice and croissants to your room every morning and they are always so fresh and tasty. Location is great, we found it to be very central to everywhere we wanted to go. Only downside...

We had a lovely room with plenty of space. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and provided us with good recommendations. The hotel was perfectly located in the warehouse district just outside the French quarter. I would stay here again.

This hotel was nothing short of perfect. The rooms were very nice and just a short walk to so much of what New Orleans is known for. My wife and I ;plus another couple that went, all agree we would return if we ever pass through New Orleans again. The staff was very pleasant, exuding southern hospitality and warmth. The staff...

We have stayed in large chain hotels and smaller hotels but took a chance to stay here for first time and so glad we did--everyone was friendly and the hotel was lovely in a great location to everything. We will plan to stay again here.

wonderful hotel. Charming, clean, warm and helpful staff, great location. Room was beautiful. We stayed here instead of at the Marriott where our conference was and I'm so glad we did. This hotel was so lovely and unique.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
