We went with our 2 adult children to New Orleans for a fun filled long weekend in April. We had 2 connecting rooms that faced Bourbon Street. The rooms themselves were great, but our room locations were right on Bourbon Street, and very noisy. So noisy that we literally couldn't sleep all night because of the crowd noise below our... My husband and I traveled to New Orleans for our anniversary, as we had been there 44 years ago for our honeymoon. Staying at the Royal Sonesta, we were surprised to be upgraded to the honeymoon suite, which was spacious, clean, and overall fantastic. We were even given a champagne bottle on ice and delicious anniversary cake! The room bordered... More

Some friends and I stayed here to celebrate our friend's bachelorette weekend. This hotel is in the perfect location if you want to be in the mist of everything. Food, bars, clubs, even drugstores or conveniently located. I got to the hotel a little after 9am but was able to go ahead and check into my room. The woman who... More

Visited NOLA for a weekend for the first time ever. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta which is dead center of all of the fun on bourbon st., and 2 blocks away from the French quarter. First the hotel was nicely remodeled. Staff was very kind and helpful. We stayed on the R club level. I was expecting more out... More

My brother-in-law who visits New Orleans frequently recommended this hotel to us. Our room was nicely appointed and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was pleasant. There is a restaurant bar on site (there was a jazz band during the weekend) and we enjoyed excellent oysters in their oyster bar. We will definitely... More

The staff were all simply fantastic, Southern Hospitality certainly was shown through all staff members we dealt with. We received an upgrade upon check in which was so fantastic! We had a quiet room towards the back which was certainly appreciated as I can imagine the Street sides get a lot of noise. We had a lovely view of the... More

Stayed there for my birthday with my wife. One of the best trips I've had in years. Beautiful elegant rooms, great service, food and the people were wonderful. In the middle of everything but when you close the doors it was quiet sophisticated and private.

Only complaint I had was my balcony door was jammed shut, I had to pull really hard every time I wanted to open it. The hotel restaurants were delicious and the hotel was nice. The pool area was relaxing and the location was awesome. Def coming back again with out the baby to fully enjoy bourbon st.

The Royal Sonesta is in an incredible location. The staff are A-1, super friendly and professional. The staff are ready, willing and able to help make your stay the best that it can be!! The R-club is definitely worth the extra money with the morning breakfast and evening cocktails.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
