We had a large group taking up ten rooms. It was quite the chore to get folks checked in as they had some issues on their end with their reservation system. However, the staff came through in a pinch and we were thankful for that. - Pretty exceptional area in NOLA - close to the convention center but also super... More

Five night stay in a Deluxe, King, Riverview room. Things that aren't up to Westin expectations -- or pricing: - at check-in we were highly encouraged to accept their Go Green program, which means you forego housekeeping and just hang up your used towels, etc. Problem is.....there are no towel bars in any of the rooms in this hotel. I... More

I tend to like the more classically designed hotels with some history to them when visiting New Orleans. But the Westin is just so darn comfortable and has so many comfortably amenities that I have reconsidered staying in historic hotels in the future. The bed was extraordinarily comfy, big rooms, divine linens and towels, very very clean, terrific location on the... More

This hotel is great b/c it is extremely convenient. We had an enormous suite and yes, furnishing is sort of bland and generic but the view from the 27th floor was anything but. Simply huge and beautiful over the river with a corner view of the French Qrtr and over to Algiers. The lobby is on the 11th floor over... More

I can't think of a better location on the edge of the French Quarter and if you're a shopper, Saks is accessible by elevator. We had a spectacular view from our room on the 20th floor. We had breakfast at the nearby Red Gravy one morning, (recommended by fellow TA reviewers) but were startled to find they didn't offer any... More

This was the first time I had stayed at this particular Westin location, so I was looking forward to it. I had received a really good price on a two-night stay. However, there were several things that made my stay less than enjoyable. First, the parking fees were not explained properly to me; I was told on check-in that the... More

Besides a good spg platinum upgrade and a decent location (if you can sleep through the train whistles) this hotel disappointed us. Called housekeeping in the evening asking for an extra pillow for the bed. Answer: They were out of bed pillows. Really? At a hotel? It was raining the day we visited, and we asked about an umbrella. No... More

This is a place I've stayed literally 100s of times and it is the worst in the Westin chain. I know, I should switch hotels, but its in my office building. Arrived at 4:00 pm with tight schedule and room not ready. Asking why got me a case of attitude from front Desk clerk. No room service menu in room... More

We certainly can do better for a loyal business traveler. Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We apologize that your room wasn’t ready and you felt that our Front Desk Agent had an attitude, and that your soup took 45 minutes to deliver. Your comments will assist us in improving our services for future guests. Once again,... More

It is a good location for exploring the French quarter. Marriott and Sheraton nearby, those would be good too. Connected to the shops at canal place, starbucks near entrance to hotel, across the street from Harrahs, catch street car out the back of the hotel, building near river, follow the river walkway into French quarter. The hotel itself needs a... More

My husband and I stayed here on our 3rd trip to New Orleans. This is by far our favorite hotel. We have stayed on Bourbon Street & were unable to sleep well due to the noise. The Westin Canal Place is in a great location close to the casino, Cafe Du Monde, and only about 3 blocks from Bourbon. The... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
