Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

New Orleans is a magical crossroads that cannot be experienced in a weekend, and I am not convinced that a week would be adequate. New Orleans is a must see on anyone's bucket list. Food places to see: Mother's, Ruby Slipper, have a coffee and a Beniet, take a historical tour either on your own or with a group. Visiting any cemetery in NOLA, you must have a guide to visit any of the Catholic cemeteries because of past vandalism. Overall, New Orleans felt like an old friend, one you need to visit again.

Stayed for four nights. Couldn’t sleep. Every night at 3:30 am a garbage truck parked outside and loaded for half an hour. Two out of the four days, the room wasn’t cleaned cleaned until 4 pm. One day I told the staff not to even bother as they arrived at 5 pm. When I asked for a receipt so I could be reimbursed by my company, I was rebuffed and told that they couldn’t because I had booked through a third party like Booking.com when in fact I had booked directly with the hotel. NOLA has a surfeit of reasonably priced, charming, quiet, clean hotels. Stay in one of those.

Cute little hotel with a perfect location especially if you are only spending a few days in the French Quarter. However, the bathroom in our room was very dusty and we woke up every day with staff yelling outside our door.
