Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other
parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title
might suggest that this area is all about business and
little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you
away from the Central Business District. The CBD
offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be
touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the
world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts

If you’re wanting a hotel within walking distance to the French Quarter this is a nice place to stay. There is a restaurant right outside the door, The Ruby Slipper that serves breakfast and lunch. It’s very busy so be prepared to wait. The drawback to this hotel is parking. You

We stayed in an exterior king room. The room was roomy and quiet, despite being right on the street. Nice comfortable seating and super comfy bed. The desk area was perfect for doing some work during our stay. We used the valet parking service and it was always easy and prompt. T

We are arriving by train about 9 pm. Will the streetcar take us nearby the hotel or do you recommend taxi that late at night?
The Canal Steet streetcar runs quite close to Common Street and stops at each cross street, you can pay driver on entry. Not sure where train station is, may be easier to use cab.

Personally, I would take a taxi. While the streetcar would be less expensive, I'm not sure it drops within a block of the train station. Plus lifting your luggage up (depending on how much you have) might be a chore. A taxi would be worth a couple bucks more.

Do you have to pay for parking?
We lucked out and got the only free space available across the street. Otherwise, yes you will likely have to pay.

Is the balcony accessible to guests?
I am not sure. My sister stayed in the room with a balcony. They wondered if someone could climb up it but they didn't have any problems.
