Certificate of Excellence
The Hotel Provincial is a small boutique hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter. It has been owned and operated by the Dupepe family since its’ opening in July 1961. In 1959, Vernon and Eunice Dupepe bought the site of the French Market Ice House which had been destroyed in a fire. On that site, the original part of the hotel was built/restored and consisted of 44 rooms. Within a few years, under the stewardship of the 2nd generation, the family began acquiring several historic buildings surrounding the parking lot. Those buildings were restored and converted to hotels rooms. The 500 building was the last building to open in 1972, bringing the hotel’s total rooms and suites to 97. We now have 92 rooms and suites due to some rooms being converted to other uses such as function space and the Ice House Bar. All of our rooms are decorated with antiques or authentic reproductions. The Hotel Provincial is currently operated by the third generation of the Dupepe family.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

My family and I are Omni devotees. I went with Hôtel provincial for this trip to the French Quarter because it was slightly less expensive, but was worried about a lack of concierge service. I’m very glad I went to this hotel. The front desk people were terrific and helped us navigate the city well. And even though we were traveling during the pandemic, everyone was respect, clean, and the pool was amazing.

I got an email to review our stay. My comment is as follows: “With Covid and stuff, I’m not sure what the norm is. Housekeeping seemingly didn’t come at all while we were there (but that makes sense)? So, we weren’t sure what to do about towels and trash and stuff. It all worked out though! The bartender at the ice house was an absolute DOLL, we enjoyed each minute with him! We checked in the day y’all opened back up. Any questions we had were answered by your wonderful staff! Coming back at all hours of the morning and not being sure how to get back in was a little daunting (especially not having our faculties about us ^-^). So, maybe that’s worth mentioning at check in? You never know when you’ll be out until sunrise while visiting New Orleans ;). It was well worth the visit, and excellent location! We LOVED our time at Hotel Provincial! Thank you so much!”

The location was perfect for me. I was very impressed with how Hotel Provincial was very clean and modern, but at the same time the rooms have furnishings and art that reflected an older charm. I loved everything about my stay at this hotel from the parking to the staff. I have found my new favorite hotel in New Orleans and I will definitely be going back!

Booke a King suite--quite large, sitting area, spacious bathroom and bedroom with nice views of the French Quarter. Hotel is located in a quiet yet convenient area to the Quarter's highlights, making most a short walk to the the action of Bourbon, Jackson Square, Saint Louis Cathedral--close to great restaurants, bars and music venues. Please keep in mind it is a historic property, parts of it built in the 1800's, therefore expect the little quirks that add to it's charm. Oh, did I mention there's an alleged ghost or two? Look up the Provincial's history!
