The Hotel Provincial is a small boutique hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter. It has been owned and operated by the Dupepe family since its’ opening in July 1961. In 1959, Vernon and Eunice Dupepe bought the site of the French Market Ice House which had been destroyed in a fire. On that site, the original part of the hotel was built/restored and consisted of 44 rooms. Within a few years, under the stewardship of the 2nd generation, the family began acquiring several historic buildings surrounding the parking lot. Those buildings were restored and converted to hotels rooms. The 500 building was the last building to open in 1972, bringing the hotel’s total rooms and suites to 97. We now have 92 rooms and suites due to some rooms being converted to other uses such as function space and the Ice House Bar. All of our rooms are decorated with antiques or authentic reproductions. The Hotel Provincial is currently operated by the third generation of the Dupepe family.

This is a beautiful hotel, we stayed in building 3 ... Room 314 ( I think) It was a Petite Suite. The room was beautiful, super large bathroom. I slept on the sofa sleeper, not the best but I can sleep almost anywhere. My complaint was I had called @ 11am to request early check in, I was told our room was ready (we were driving in from Destin) We arrived @ 2pm to be told the room wasn't ready. When I said I had been told @ 11am it was, she said they had problems with the air conditioners & had to move everyone. It was after 3 when we got in our room, the room was 78 degrees. It never went below 74 degrees. I had to call that night @ 11:30 to request bedding for the sofa bed & a fan so I could sleep due to the heat. Parking was inside courtyard area ?? I didn't like that I had to leave my keys with them, which meant I had to walk to front office to get the keys to load or unload my car. Rooms were clean, staff was fine.

It was a pleasure having you as our guest at the Hotel Provincial once again. We are glad to know you were impressed with our convenient location and the attentive service delivered by our staff. Having said that, I am sorry we fell short in some of your expectations. We did have issues with our chiller that day, and I do apologize for that. We value your feedback and hope the positive aspects of your visit will bring you back to our hotel in the future. Sincerely, Staci

The hotel has small courtyards throughout the hotel which are charming. The air conditioning did not work properly in some if the rooms. There is no restaurant in the hotel and because of COVID, no room services such as cleaning. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Our family had 2 balcony rooms. Big balcony and fun to watch what was happening below. Great service and centrally located. They have a great restaurant attached and a bar. The rooms were very comfortable.

I’ve stayed in many French Quarter hotels and this ranks newr the top. Very clean, super friendly staff and the beds- so comfy. James the bartender was the best. Not only did he make great drinks, he was a fountain of knowledge. The courtyard and pool area were beautiful also. I wish I could sit in that courtyard every day.

We loved everything about our recent stay at the Hotel Provincial in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It is a beautiful, locally owned and operated hotel, that is unique, steeped with character, and certainly not your normal cookie-cutter hotel. The rooms, though small (reminded me of similar Paris hotel rooms), are furnished with period antiques. There are two onsite pools and a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Nestled in Chartres Street, everything in the French Quarter is within easy walking distance. Onsite parking is expensive, at $32 per day, but well worth it, as we were assured that our car was protected during our stay. The staff were always engaging and helpful. We loved Hotel Provincial and will definitely stay here again in subsequent visits to New Orleans!
