Did not feel like a luxury hotel. The rooms were small but the bed was slightly larger than a twin. Linens were rough and not what I expected for the cost. It is in a very central location but needs to be updated a lot to be considered a “luxury hotel.” Even the hallways felt gross.
The Omni Royal is the best place to stay in the French Quarter. The hotel and rooms are clean and decorated beautifully The staff is friendly and courteous. Centrally located you can walk to all of the French Quarter attractions. There is a hotel bar, pool bar, and a restaurant on site that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Midweek we payed $145 per night plus taxes. It was well worth the money for the luxury we had. The roof top pool and fitness center are amazing. You can order drinks and light tapas up there also. Great view of the French Quarter from up there. I will be back and highly recommend it.
We had never been to New Orleans, and planned our first trip there with the intention of spending most of our time in the French Quarter. We chose a hotel mainly from reviews, and also, we had a promotional offer from Omni. We decided on the Omni Royal Orleans, and we never regretted that decision. Reading reviews that some rooms there are small, we sprang for a "premier" room. It wasn't cheap, but with the promotion, and by reserving a couple of months in advance, we saved several hundred dollars. Before we arrived, we received an email from one of the hotel's "loyalty ambassadors" offering to be helpful. Well, as it happened, we were planning on an early arrival and wondered if a room could be ready; and when we arrived, our room WAS ready. For our car, there wasn't much realistic alternative, from the point of view of safety and convenience, to valet parking, which added $50 a night (including tax; plus tip), which I suppose was fair given that the French Quarter is pretty busy. As other reviewers have said, the Omni Royal Orleans has a great location. We were a few minutes' walk from everything we wanted to see (and there's a LOT to do and see), but the hotel itself is in a quiet area. The lovely view from our window was of the gracious Supreme Court building across the street with its border of lawn and trees. The Omni Royal Orleans is a historic hotel and we were happy that it didn't feel modern, but it also didn't feel worn out. The lobby area had the spacious feel of a grand hotel. The elevators arrived quickly. Our room was quite comfortable, including the beds. We appreciated the mini-fridge. The coffee maker that was in the room didn't work, but it was quickly traded out on our request. Otherwise, everything worked well, including the plumbing. The weather in February was surprisingly warm, and we wound up using the large rooftop heated salt-water pool, which was an extremely nice feature that we hadn't expected to care about. There's quite an impressive view from the rooftop deck as well. All the staff, from valet to porter to housekeeping to front desk to security to storekeepers, were efficient, helpful, and friendly. We had only a couple of disappointments. Our "loyalty ambassador" recommended the hotel's Touché Bar for having the best mint juleps in town. Unfortunately, it turned out that the bar didn't have any mint. But there's a country-wide shortage of mint, so we couldn't hold that against them. Also, when I went to the front desk to break a $50 bill for tips, they couldn't help me, and, actually, the peremptory attitude of the fellow there was something of an exception to my comment above about the "efficient, helpful, and friendly" staff. As a result, my wife and I, both in our 70s, organized ourselves to carry all our bags to the garage when it was time to leave, which was kind of a nuisance. We'd be happy to return to this hotel if we ever go to New Orleans again, although we'll be sure to bring some $5 and $10 bills if we do. …
Simply put, there was a mouse or rat in the room. I was promptly offered another room on another floor and a food credit but then saw another one in the hallway of my new room floor. I placed a towel under the door for my own sanity.
Horrific service. Room service will not answer. Manager will not call us. Front desk puts us into a voicemail. Front desk refuses to connect us to the hotel manager. They could care less. Just tried to order coffee. Please stay somewhere else
In the heart of the French Quarter. Very friendly staff and excellent service from Lamar, who served us breakfast each morning. Professional, courteous and genuine. He was the reason we returned to the Rib Room throughout our stay. Rooms were clean, comfortable and this hotel resonated with the New Orleans vibe. Walking distance to great food, music and tour pick ups. Concierge service from Roy was top notch.
Location. Brilliant . Facilities . Lovely . Building and gardens . Gorgeous . Staff not overly helpful but courteous . A perfect location to get in and around the French Quarter and New Orleans . Side note . Gym adequate . Pool heated but was closed during stay .
First the good: + Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! + Location is PERFECT if you want to enjoy the French Quarter! Far enough away from Bourbon it wasn't horribly noisy, but still literally in the middle of the fun. + Historical aspect of the property is fascinating. + Room was clean and, unlike so many hotels post-Covid, maids came every day. + Rooftop view was awesome. And the bad: + Rooms are very small (we had a King bed without balcony, 7th floor), probably due to the age of the facility. + Rooms seem super outdated. + Bathroom was TINY. + Window was so dirty you could hardly see out. + No hot tub (bummer), although the rooftop pool seemed OK.
Location was great, right in the French Quarter, steps from Bourbon Street. Unfortunately this historic hotel is DECREPIT and the rooms (we had 4) were all DISGUSTING and in DISREPAIR. Needless to say, this hotel is in dire need of a renovation. I definitely do not recommend anyone stay in this hotel under any circumstance.
Absolutely loved stay at the Omni in the French quarter New Orleans! The rib room which served breakfast that next morning was amazing the staff was very friendly and was quick to always greet us!!! Highly recommended.
