Nice room. A little dated but nice. Concierge M lounge is really good. The breakfast included a huge spread with made to order omelettes and all sorts of other items. Throughout the day there are drinks and snacks. Then the evening happy hour didn’t disappoint. One day they had gumbo, buffalo wings, meat cheese and veggie platter, rolls, salad, a variety of small cold appetizers and little desserts.
We were here for a week during a bridge tournament at this hotel. On a positive note, we had a spectacular view of the Mississippi River from our room on the 39th floor. The Concierge Room just off the lobby was wonderful too. They served a full breakfast complete with made-to-order omelets and eggs. They also served what most would call dinner every evening, with a selection of dishes that included pasta, rice, gumbo and salad. The location makes it an easy walk to the heart of the French Quarter and WWII Museum. Multiple trolly lines run through the area. On a negative note, the elevators became very congested at peak times, making us wait quite a while to take us to and from the 39th floor. Others complained of the same. The ballrooms where the tournament was held had issues with air-conditioning being far too robust in places. On one occasion people were so cold they went to their rooms to retrieve their winter coats! Some people complained about street noise in their rooms which I can believe. Even though we were on the 39th floor we could hear the car stereo's booming from cars driving around late at night. (NOLA is a town that never sleeps). …
I only have a long list of excellent things to say about this hotel. It’s in a great location, the staff are absolutely superb, one of the best Marriott hotels I’ve visited and would recommend to everyone! Thanks for a great time as always
First, the good: Great location, nice and comfortable and clean room. Staff was super friendly (especially Manny at the Bell Captain's desk. However, I left and event and return to my room in the afternoon because I was not feeling well. I called for room service (was supposed to be 30 minutes). After an hour, I called and was told it was "in process". After 2 hours, I called again and was told something was wrong, and they would remake the order (it was a pizza and would now be cold). After 2 hours and 45 minutes, an ice cold pizza with congealed cheese arrived at my door. Hungry and frustrated, I called again. The woman did not apologize, but said it would be removed from my bill. (i had to leave the hotel not feeling well to get food). When I went to check out the meal had NOT been removed. Hardly 4 star service.…
VERY DISSAPOINTED. Booked room in December for a special occasion. Got to the hotel in March, room is very small. Main restaurant is closed. Reservation desk understaffed. Find out I was billed more than I booked it for. Did not purchase anything on the room. Will never, ever, stay here again. Complete rip-off.
There are rusty can openers in the bathrooms. So here is the thing, I like the location and they have a cool elevator system yet the hotel needs a touch-up badly. I was in the River Tower and the elevators are controlled via an smart system so it tells you what lift to ride, that is nice. I think it is called destination dispatch or something like that. The lobby was quite nice and it is a tall hotel. I was there for a cardiology conference and I was originally on the 22nd floor. However, that was short lived when I realized that five of six USB chargers were broken. They did change my room to one on the 38th floor and three of six were broken. I think those may not be an easy replacement so I sort of understand. The bathrooms both had drop ceiling and a can opener by the door. The floor when wet gets slippery for the lack of a more proper term and the can openers were rusted over in both rooms - I fear that someone is going to fall and get tetanus or something. I am not saying that is a bad thing to have but they should be replaced when they are starting to oxidize and they are directly next to the shower. They include ShowTime but the internet must not be sufficient as it buffers a lot. Bed was nice and did get daily room servicing. The rooms were otherwise fine. The hallways are sort of strange in that the doors appear thin as they are almost parallel with the wall instead of sunken inward as typically seen. The breakfast buffet is $25 and it is quite good. They have the usual offerings but also andouille sausage and beignets. So I liked it. The hotel is a great location and only a brisk walk to the convention center. It is not great but not bad, just needs a little love. …
I visited this hotel for an Energy Conference. Upon arrival the hotel looks very nice, hotel lobby and bar area is big and inviting. The have a pantry that has very overpriced items such as snacks and food items and drinks. The rooms are dated and not the cleanest yet comfortable for work trip.
So this hotel really has its pros and cons. I think it is between a two and three but some big cons moved it to a two. We arrived yesterday and yes its on canal st and yes it is mardi gras. We got here at 12:30 pm and parade did not start until 4 but all the streets were blocked and we could not get to hotel. The hotel should make parking accommodations for its guests arriving during the mardi gras on a canal st parade day. No communication or warning and we made sure we arrived way before parade time. But the worst is when i call to ask for assistance where i could park the first person was clueless and the second literally hung up on me and then they did not answer the phone. We found a lot across from westin about .4 miles away. There was a ritz and the westin they could have offered parking at since Marriott owns them. Then when we checked in the woman just gave us our keys and wristbands. No welcome as titanium members or summary of perks or info on m club. We were upgraded to a crescent suite in 11th floor. Great view and big suite. But the room is in dire need of upgrade. The bathroom is TINY and outdated. Only one sink and an old old tub. The handles on sink are rotted and literally falling off and the grout on floor filthy. Not acceptable. I got a free upgrade but if i had paid 1000 a night during mardi gras i would be VERY disappointed. Just a renovation would make the room spectacular. The location is great i give it that. But Marriott needs to give the rooms a renovation and upgrade procedures for guests arriving during mardi gras. Yes it is chaotic but they are doing a bad job. Sorry i do love my Marriott I’m titaneum and vacation club presidential but please Marriott take care of this place.…
I stayed for 3 nights at the Marriott while in town for business. The hotel is in a great location that is easily walkable through the downtown and the French Quarter. My room was on the 27th floor and it was clean and comfortable and had spectacular river views. The rooms could use a bit of updating, but nothing that would keep me from staying again. The hotel staff were phenomenal and very friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman at the front door--he was very sweet and charming and really made us smile. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again when in town for work. If I was coming for fun, I'd probably prefer to stay more centrally in the French Quarter, but for business, this was perfect.
Nice lobby and conference facilities but the rooms were nothing special and a little dingy. I was expecting it to be nicer given that it was a Marriott. I will say that the hotel staff was very nice. My TV didn’t work when I got to the room and by the time I got back from a quick dinner they had it fixed.
