The International House Hotel garners appreciation for its prime location in close vicinity to the French Quarter and various attractions, making it convenient for guests to explore on foot. The hotel's atmosphere is often described as eclectic and charming, with a beautifully appointed lobby. However, the rooms, although typically found to be clean, are sometimes criticized for being small and lacking expected amenities such as in-room coffee. While the staff receives accolades for their friendliness, some guests have encountered issues with service consistency. Despite the unique bar and overall cleanliness, the value proposition is questioned due to unexpected fees and perceived overpricing.

Lovely hotel with lots of character. Rooms are comfortable though ours wasn't as large as some American hotel rooms but was big enough for us. However shower wasn't very warm and when I asked at reception he said I had turned the lever too far! Did seem hotter earlier you showered but obviously had some problem as a guy was complaining about it when we were checking out. No safe in the room but there are some behind reception.
There were some characters in the lobby as part of an exhibition of the 'dumb' society and we were served a alcoholic drink and cookie by a 'fox' we hadn't got a clue what was going on but it was all fun. Doorman was really helpful in carrying our luggage a bit of a way off from the hotel as the road was closed for Mardi Gras. The only downside was that on our 2nd day we found our key card wouldn't work as they said we were only there for 1 night - bit annoying as we were on the 8th floor and in a hurry to get to our jazz dinner reservation. Surely they could have checked with the company we booked with when they realised we hadn't checked out!
Great hotel but check they have your booking right and test the temperature of the shower!

I am glad to read you enjoyed your recent stay with us, but realize how frustrating the challenges with the hot water and the deactivated key card must have been. I have addressed both with the appropriate departments. So glad to see you enjoyed your tea with us in our celebration of Carlotta Bonnecaze, the first Creole woman to design Carnival floats in 1896. I hope to welcome you back again!

We stayed here on the recommendation of a family member who said “it’s her favorite place in New Orleans.” And we can see why! The service from front desk staff, bellman, and housekeeping was friendly and helpful. We stayed on the 11th floor in one of the Rockstar rooms. It was comfortable and quiet. The location is great. Trolley stops 2 blocks away, restaurants for all meals within 1-2 blocks (including one connected to the hotel).

I recently returned from a 4-night stay at International House Hotel. As an art lover, I initially chose the hotel for it’s artwork. But, there are two other things that also make IH a good choice: location and service. The location is perfect...two short blocks from Canal Street, but on the Central Business District side of Canal. In other words, you’re close to everything, but you still get to sleep at night. The staff at IH is very service oriented. Thank you to Janna for everything she did to make sure I had an enjoyable stay. There was an issue with my air conditioning the first night which was remedied the next morning without me having to change rooms. I was pleased to find out that daily room servicing had been discontinued due to the pandemic. Rest assured, the staff does follow up to see if you need anything. I highly recommend a drink at Loa Bar during your stay. Tara Jo was the bartender for my entire stay and she is a joy! On the day of my departure, Eric arranged a flat rate cab to the airport, which meant I avoided the peak-time pricing of ride share services. I certainly appreciated that! All in all, I enjoyed my stay at IH.

We booked this hotel after our flight got canceled and we needed an extra night in New Orleans. The price was decent and the reviews and photos looked good. We got there and it was under construction no where was this mentioned. When we arrived upon check in we were handed a letter from the general manager explaining the construction. The lobby was torn apart and although they said the bar was open evidently they didn't have anything in stock. As far as the room goes the bed was comfortable but the room itself was pretty drab and no microwave but the shower was nice and the room was clean. That being said if you like the smell of bleach this is for you, The room hadn't overwhelming please for a wellmingly strong smell of disinfectant. On her way to walk to dinner we decided to go to the bar as we were told it was open. Once at the bar the bartender was not very confident that he could make any of the specialty drinks. From the recommendation of the concierge I ordered one drink in particular the bartender said yeah I have enough to make that and and what ended up getting poured was maybe 4 oz. The drink was tasty but overv11 dollars fir a 4 oz pour not worth it.

Honestly there are better hotels in the area, right next to this hotel. The hotel lacks many amenities. The rooms are pretty small. They only have two very small elevators (only 3 adults fit comfortably) for the guest and workers. And at least one elevator was down for the duration of my four day stay. We got multiple rooms as we were traveling for a wedding. The penthouse my friend booked was on the 12th floor and the day of her wedding while we were prepping both elevators were down. There aren't very many amenities in this hotel. Housekeeping does a mediocre job of cleaning the rooms and did not remove trash from our rooms on several occasions. The rooms are also very small/slightly claustrophobic. The staff was very friendly and the location is great but I would not return to this specific hotel, especially with the prices they charge. There are many other hotels right next to this one that will probably be better value (LaQuinta, Sheraton, Marriott etc). Overall was very mediocre and overpriced, would not recommend.

Thank you for your honest and meaningful review of the hotel. We strive to fit everyone's style of stay, but we fail now and again. I hope the wedding and your time in New Orleans was a special time for you and your friends.

The employees went above and beyond helping us with recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. We went during Mardi Gras and they had this cool afternoon tea (with spiked tea!) that was led by the hotel. We got to meet a lot of the management as well as other guesetc and they were all so much fun to talk to. The bar Loa is awesome, with really good cocktails and a great atmosphere and we had the best meal of our trip at the restaurant RockRose. I highly recommend the red snapper! I've stayed here once before in 2011, and I liked it so much then that I came back. It was exactly how I remembered, only even better with the addition of a restaurant.

We found our room overall a bit lacking given this hotel's four star rating--it did not look as advertised, though that's the tradeoff using an aggregator site for booking.
Pros: friendly staff, amazing bar program, clean room, relatively quiet street, cool lobby art installation
Cons: room was fairly basic and did not look as advertised
Would recommend if you want a room to stay out of the party area of the French quarter, but still close by. Would not recommend if you are expecting something as fancy as the lobby looks.

The front desk staff and bar staff were friendly but seemed short staffed like most places and overworked so I want to commend their good service, but the hotel rooms need updating, are very small and have few amenities. ThThere is coffee in the lobby but it was frequently empty so had to wait a long time for it to be refilled.
I don’t think this hotel is worth the price we paid, but the location is great and the guys at front door always greeted us with a smile so they deserve 5 stars.

I am currently staying here. The lobby and lobby bar is bright and inviting. However, once you get off the smaller elevators, your room is quite sparse. A bed, a small desk and lamp, a small chair in the corner and a tv on the wall. No lamps, limited surface areas and no other furniture or lighting or dresser, etc. The bathrooms, are even more sparse.

The hotel is in a good location if you are going to see the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Canal Street,ETC. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were ok, the cleaning staff brought in fresh towels and made the bed, thats about it. The did not clean the bathrooms while we were there and did not vacuum. The rooms had small refrigerators but no microwave or coffeemakers, if you want coffee you have to go to the lobby and they have a pot there in the bar area
