The hotel lobby is under construction with continuous noise throughout the day. Further the pool was not open because of an issue and the fitness room was also closed for renovations. This was very disappointing for a Hyatt property.
This Hyatt is in a great location relative to fantastic restaurants in the French Quarter. My room was very comfortable. The hotel was very clean with great cosmetics. Great stay and I'll definitely expect to come back to this location.
Staff were friendly and cheerful but incompetent. Gym was closed. Sent to another gym and after two wasted hours was told I could not use that gym. Coffee machine and curtain rods did not work. Breakfast was impossible to get due to understaffing. Bar included staff who did not know how to make drinks so that half of them were not drinkable.
I have stayed at many hotels from different chains in various countries, but this is the one Hotel that has provided me with the most outstanding service I have ever experienced. Even though the lobby was going through some remodeling, and you usually expect some chaos, the staff made it seem seamless. From the front desk staff, to the bar, restaurant, room service, housekeeping, security, and Chuck at the pool bar, they were all outstanding at making us feel right at home. And when our airline canceled our return flight home due to weather and we had to extend our stay, the front desk manager quickly jumped into action securing us the additional nights we needed at a reasonable rate. Yes, they have great location, accommodations, nice rooms, etc, but those things are worth nothing without the right service and staff. Hyatt Centric at the French Quarter New Orleans has the full 5 star package in my book.…
Had a professional/formal introduction to the team on the day of arrival. Gathered business cards/contact information for the duration of the stay. Staff was responsive and helpful as situations developed (last minute baby shower and a COVID scare). Team went out of their way to assist. they even provided additional contacts/referrals for future visits to other cities with Hyatt properties. Incredibly pleased with our experience.
This hotel is amazing. It is literally 1 block from the start of the crazy bars section of Bourbon St, but far enough away that you hear no sound in the room. Rooms are big and clean, staff was nice, and the location is unbeatable in the French Quarter. Only downside is $48 valet per night, but what can you do, you’re in the heart of Bourbon St lol.
I traveled to New Orleans on business. I stayed here to have easy access to the hospital. I arrived around 3 pm and my room wasn't ready, so I was told they'd text me when it was ready. Check-in is at 4. I still hadn't received a text, and wasn't able to get into my room until 4:30 pm. The hotel lobby is under construction, so was fairly noisy while I was there. My room was clean and well appointed and comfortable. However, there are very few available outlets in the rooms, and to get around this, they have implemented tables that plug in, so there are accessible outlets on the outer edges. The small table with the coffee maker was not plugged in, nor was it anywhere near an outlet to be plugged into, so I had to move the coffee maker. Water pressure in the bathroom sink for the cold water was almost non existent, and the room itself faced out onto the road into the French Quarter, where a marching band went by at late hours, even mid week. It also appears to be a favorite canyon for motorcyclists to blast down at all hours of the night, making restful sleep difficult. Service was friendly and location was great, but definitely check your amenities before you settle in, and if not there for the nightlife, request a quiet room if you want to sleep before 2 am.…
We have stayed at this property numerous times over the last 10 years. My current rating is based on several factors, but mostly safety issues and management. - When we arrived, the pool was green, and you could not see the bottom. People were swimming in it. One of the employees in the hallway told me it was always green because it was a natural pool. My husband looked in the pool room, door was open, and saw the pump was not working. We brought this to the attention of management and where told there was nothing wrong with the pool nor the pump. The next day an employee was removing the sand from the filter in a bucket. Since the service elevator was out of order, he was bringing it down the normal elevators. It was so green they had to remove it since it was impossible to backflush and clean. He had tested the water and found it had no choline in it. Another employee told us the filters had not been cleaned in years. A service tag on the filter said 2018. Management denied it all. One manager told us it was their discretion on when to close the pool, and later the next day they did. It was closed almost 4 days while they tried to clean it. When it was reopened it was blue but still cloudy. This is a serious health issue the management denied during all of our discussions. What's really sad is they did nothing about it, even though others have reviewed this hotel and mentioned the "green pool". Also surprising is the fact Mr. Thomas, one of the management team never address' this issue when he has responded to those who have posted about it in the past. - We had a fire alert (service elevator electrical problems) and were told to evacuate the building. The exit door at the bottom of our stairs would not open all the way because there were sandbags outside partially blocking it. Behind us were two ladies who said they could not get their emergency door open at all, they had to walk back up and then go to our exit to get out. We had all heard stories of people dying in stairwells from suffocation or being trampled when exit doors do not function properly. Management told us they share the alley way with other businesses, and they would look into it. I tried to explain to them it was the Hyatt's responsibility since the emergency exit door only serviced the hotel. They dismissed me and continued to say that they would have to talk to the others who share the alley. It took two days for someone to move the sandbags so the door would open completely. Gave me nightmares. - Speaking of alleys, the one our emergency exit door opened to was filthy. It stunk and looked like it was never cleaned. They need to follow the example of Hard Rock who is also in the same building. Every day I walked by their trash cans and area it was clean and had no odor. It was necessary to walk up that street to get to Canal, unless you wanted to walk around the block up to Bourbon Street and turn right there. All management did was blame it on others. - Speaking of exiting to Canal Street, that exit at the hotel is closed. When we arrived the sign was placed in front of the exit door rather than at the entrance to the hallway that went to the Canal Street exit. I mentioned to an employee that it seems much more logical to put the sign at the entrance to the hallway, rather than at the end where you had to walk to to see it. It was moved the next day. Would think management would have thought of that. - Hotel lobby is under renovation. It’s a mess. Limited service and food choice. I would just read Val T review. Pretty much sums it up. We had one employee tell us “how much he was doing for us and how much time he was spending” I don’t know if he was just rude or looking for a tip, but he was in our room fixing several problems that were not our fault. I could go on, but I won’t. Room problems, employee problems, renovation, DJ ridiculously loud in the pool courtyard which no one told us would be happening… We do have pictures of the pool, sandbags, broken tile in the bathroom, but I’m not going to post unless someone asks to see them. Read the other negative reviews. they are all true. Look elsewhere for the time being. We have enjoyed this location in the past and hope it will return to it's former self. If you are a Globalist, don’t expect to be treated any better. As Val said, “a blot on Hyatt’s otherwise good name”.…
We were given a Bourbon Street facing room. It was ridiculously loud. Club music with bass until 4am. The balcony is shared and the people next to us were constantly out smoking. We have been to NOLA 15+ times and stayed in French Quarter…this was next level noise. Not normal street noise like one would experience in NY, San Fran or Chicago. I really don’t know how they can charge these prices for this type of experience.
Valet stole from me and management didn’t do anything because they’re contracted, my room smelt, hotel noisy, dust everywhere, food was dry, drinks nasty! And then going management lady with perm is racist towards whites the security guard himself said he steals but gives it back then asks!!! STAY AWAY the ritz is across the street.
