French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Overall, the stay wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good. This is an old building and there are many stairs and it’s a little confusing. All of that is fine. However, I did hear something scatter across the floor while laying in bed and upon further inspection, there seemed to be a

Dear Larry, We're glad you appreciate the aesthetic at the hotel. Renovations were completed only a few years back and the modern "makeover" has gotten a lot of positive feedback. It is exciting for us to represent such an awesome old historic building in the French Quarter. Thank you so much for staying with us. Come again any time!

The hotel is quaint and in a great part of the French Quarter. Very easy to walk to shops and bars/restaurants. I really did NOT like the doors leading to the courtyard in our room. It barely had a deadbolt keeping it shut. Plus there was a draft coming through. Along with

Dear guest, We're sorry to hear that you found the lock on the door to be inadequate. We assure you, though, that each card reader and deadbolt on the guest rooms at Hotel Royal are secure and functional. We hate to hear, also, that you did not feel your room was well attended by the staff. We will certainly be looking into whatever improvements need to be made concerning the unsatisfactory elements of your stay. Thank you for being our guest. We appreciate your feedback.

We were able to get a spot because we were there during a lull time in December. There are only about 7 spots for about 42 rooms. They will not let you reserve a spot. If one isn't available you have a choice of parking on the street and paying the meter for the whole time or parking in a public parking lot a few blocks away. I have a feeling parking is an issue for many of the hotels there. It's something you really need to research before booking.

Do the rooms have netflix?
I couldn’t tell you. I didn’t even think about watching TV while I was in New Orleans.

"Get a room with a balcony even if it is noisy, it's the experience."
"NO ELEVATORS so if you are on one of the higher floors get ready to carry your luggage up small staircases. Not all rooms have views."
"The hotel was very quiet -- especially considering you're in New Orleans!!!"
"Ask for an internal room (overlooking the courtyard) if you, like us, need their sleep."
"We thought that the room with a balcony would be nice, but it was horrible."
