We had a fabulous stay at the McKendrick Breaux House and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is looking for a true 'New Orleans Living' experience! I previously lived in New Orleans for nearly a decade and was in search of the perfect honeymoon location that would allow us to feel like locals again (granted, with a bit... More

I seldom write reviews but feel I must as this inn is the worst place we've ever stayed in - and we've traveled all over the US, Europe, Great Britain, Australia, & New Zealand. What really gets me is the impressive web site - an absolute joke as far as reality is concerned. We stayed here because my wife had... More

This is a beautiful place in the Lower Garden District in New Orleans, the perfect place to stay if you want to avoid the chaos and noise of the more crowded part of the city. Walking distance to beautiful areas of NOLA, to the streetcar, to St. Charles Street. And the owner is a font of information about the best... More

We recently stayed at the McKendrick-Breaux house. Brett is very helpful and knowledgable and extremely accommodating. His breakfasts were delicious! The house is beautiful and inviting. The location is great. Everything about our stay was positive. We highly recommend staying here. Laura & Gary Miami, FL

This charming historic inn is an excellent value in a conveniently-located neighborhood in New Orleans. We appreciated Brett's knowledge of attractions and events as well as superb directions to said attractions and to public transportation. Plus, we loved their cats! It was nice to be so enthusiastically welcomed back late at night by these big fluffy hosts. But this is... More

We are used to staying in the French Quarter. This was our second time staying out of the quarter - the last time at a place right on St. Charles and the streetcar line. The inn was nice but sort of in the middle of nowhere as far as getting to the streetcar, etc. It is about a 5-6 block... More

We LOVE LOVE LOVE The McKendrick-Breaux House! I wish it had more reviews so it would move up in numbers because it definitely deserves to be in the top 10! Brett, Rachael, and the kids are wonderful! Brett really cares about his clients and he constantly went above and beyond to make sure we were getting the most out of... More

If you have a New Orleans Convention Center event, this is a great B & B alternative to the big hotels. You'll get a spacious high-ceiling room and a great breakfast, with free parking next door and good proximity to the Magazine Street antique shops and the museums. The walk to the Convention Center is about five blocks. Just take... More

We stayed one night in the Urania room on the third floor of the main house. It was beautiful. The owners welcomed us to their home and gave us a tour of the grounds when we arrived. It was a great place to stay before our honeymoon cruise.

This is the only place I stay on my once or twice a year business trips to New Orleans. As always, my stay was great. The location is just far enough away from the French Quarter to avoid the throngs of tourists, but close enough to get there in just a few minutes (my meetings were at one of the... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
