Everything about our stay at House of the Rising Sun was great. Kevin is a wonderful host - he obviously takes great pleasure and care in running the B&B. It is a charming house with all the comforts, in a beautiful neighborhood that has good food and drink options. It's only a 2 minute walk to the boat that takes... More

We spent 5 nights at House of the Rising Sun B&B, staying in the Memphis Minnie room. Great room with plenty of space & privacy. Kevin, Wendy & Boudin were excellent hosts, greeting us with beer upon our arrival! We were well looked after during our stay, a good healthy breakfast each morning and it was fun getting to know... This is a great spot just a short ferry hop over to the French Quarter , a British pub just down the road from the BnB and a couple of nice restaurants within 5 minutes walk of the BnB also. Kevin was extremely hospitably, welcomed with a bottle of the local amber ( I think its just an excuse so... More

My daughter and I stayed here on our trip to New Orleans. Kevin was there to greet us and make us feel welcome. It was so nice to stay in a quiet neighborhood and just take the ferry over to the city. The neighborhood has a quaint little corner restaurant and pub that you can relax in. We had a... More

Kevin and Wendy do a very good job of making their B+B unique, homey and generally easy to be in. They both have a good knowledge of the area,.its activities and history as well. Theres also a neat little library with good books relating to music and history. We will definately be back. Lee+Ann....April 2016.

What a great time we all had! The house was very comfortable, clean and welcoming. Our room had a comfortable king bed with a full bath attached. Breakfast was always yummy. It has easy access to town using the Ferry. The neighborhood is safe for evening walks on the levy.

This was the perfect place to stay for our visit to NOLA. Algiers is right on the other side of the river with a $2 ferry fare. The House of the Rising Sun is a quick 2 blocks from the ferry. After a long day of excitement and hub-bub in the French Quarter, hop on the ferry at the end... More

Kevin, Wendy and Boudin are excellent hosts and made our trip more enjoyable. Kevin is knowledgeable on the local area and gave us many good places to visit in the French quarter. The B&B is homey and relaxing. My wife and I spent our mornings on the porch relaxing, sipping coffee and planning our day. When we visit New Orleans... More

This was our first time to New Orleans and to A bed and breakfast. Kevin treats you right and Will help you figure out where to go what to do when you don't know. We stayed in the Memphis Minnie. Room was private and isolated from the others. Owners live upstairs and you have a good private experience.

The House of the Rising Sun provides a comfortable, calm retreat from the madness over the river.Algiers Point has a unique charm about it.The breakfasts were a good start to the day and we enjoyed chatting to the other guests around the table. Staying in Algiers

Neighborhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
