I have stayed at House of the Rising Sun now several times as I have family in the neighborhood. It's such a convenient location for anything you want to do. Kevin and Wendy always have great information on places to eat, (I recommend Peche!) places to visit and things to do while in New Orleans. There are also some great... More

Yet another wonderful stay with Kevin and Wendy at the House of the Rising Sun. Staying in Algiers Point is a great place to stay in NO - just a short ferry ride across the river to the "Quarter", but so calm and relaxed at the Point. Immaculate B&B as ever, and the English muffins are worth trying at breakfast!... More

Kevin and Wendy are delightful hosts. Along with their wonder dog Boudin, we had a relaxing time in Algiers Point. The Point itself is worth seeing if you're interested in history and architecture. A short ferry ride away from New Orleans, it's a quiet place to stay at the end of the day. Several pubs and restaurants within a couple... More

We loved our 4 night stay here and it added enormously to our enjoyment of our first visit to NO. Kevin and Wendy made us feel very welcome and it was so nice to stay in an authentic local home rather than an impersonal motel, as we had been doing up to then on our trip. Our room was clean,... Visited this lovely B&B only problem was we did not stay for long enough! Kevin, Wendy & Boudin the Wonder Dog made us very welcome. Nice healthy breakfast with proper tea available for us Brits! Lovely quiet location with local pubs and eateries within an easy walk. The ferry to the main part of New Orleans is an easy 5-6... More

We stayed for 4 nights in June to visit family and friends in the area. The house itself is comfortably appointed and our room (we stayed in the Frogmouth) was very clean and quiet despite being adjacent to the kitchen. The back porch is a great place to unwind and Boudin the dog is a great little companion! Kevin is... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Kevin and Wendy's B&B on our recent vacation to New Orleans. We had read some of the trip advisor reviews and were looking forward to staying here. We are happy to say that our stay exceeded all our expectations. The neighbourhood is a quiet, residential one; the home is clean, bright and homie, and... More

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here and would happily return. It's an interesting old house in a quiet location, conveniently close to the river ferry to the French Quarter, with a pub and two restaurants also nearby. Kevin was welcoming and informative, and makes a nice, healthy breakfast. Our bed was large and comfortable, and everything was very... More

We had a good time at House of the Rising Sun. Kevin knows about music and shares his stories. A nice extra. Room was comfortible with a good bed. You have breakfast with the other guests in the special dining room. For us it was a good way to start our bluestrip. Loved the little dog!

Staying in Algiers

Neighborhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
