If you are not into the typical hotel stay and looking for something more, House of the Rising Sun B & B is a great choice. Located in an adorable neighborhood just across the river from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans. The ferry ride across the river is a fun experience all in itself for just $2! Kevin... More

My son and I just spent 5 nights with Kevin and Wendy. I was down there on business and brought my son, who has a fascination with all things related to House of the Rising Sun. Kevin met us and immediately invited us to his back porch where we got to know each other. I learned a little of his... More

Tripadvisor please take note - this person is talking about a B&B/hotel in India. We are based in New Orleans. Nice review but I'm sorry, we can't claim it. Please remove. Thanks. More

All the good things you hear about the House Of The Rising Sun are actually true, so I just add some more icing to the cake: Kevin knows such an awful lot about music and about history. Musiclovers will enjoy chatting with him no end!

Each very comfortable room has its own private bathroom. Great back porch facing a lovely courtyard has a table and swing. Nice place for your morning coffee or tea. Simple and delicious continental breakfast was provided. Kevin and Wendy are warm and friendly hosts. We had a "girl's" weekend here, each occupying the three rooms, so we had the whole... More

Hotels serve a purpose when traveling, but sometimes staying in a real neighborhood at a home is so much nicer. I have stayed at The House of The Rising Sun several times and come back for many reasons. Wendy and Kevin are naturals at hosting--their warmth and concern for their guests are genuine. They share their love of this city's... More

I have stayed at House of the Rising Sun now several times as I have family in the neighborhood. It's such a convenient location for anything you want to do. Kevin and Wendy always have great information on places to eat, (I recommend Peche!) places to visit and things to do while in New Orleans. There are also some great... More

Yet another wonderful stay with Kevin and Wendy at the House of the Rising Sun. Staying in Algiers Point is a great place to stay in NO - just a short ferry ride across the river to the "Quarter", but so calm and relaxed at the Point. Immaculate B&B as ever, and the English muffins are worth trying at breakfast!... More

Kevin and Wendy are delightful hosts. Along with their wonder dog Boudin, we had a relaxing time in Algiers Point. The Point itself is worth seeing if you're interested in history and architecture. A short ferry ride away from New Orleans, it's a quiet place to stay at the end of the day. Several pubs and restaurants within a couple... More

Staying in Algiers

Neighborhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
