House of the Rising Sun is ideally located in a quintessential neighborhood adjacent to the world-renowned French Quarter. During your five minute ride on the ferry, you will leave the nostalgia of days gone by to enter a world bustling with culture, diversity and intrique. As the sun does nown and exhaustion sets in, the House of the Rising Sun...

Been to New Orleans a few times but always missed out before on Algiers Point. It is a little oasis of calm, just a ferry ride from the bustle of the rest of the city; this B&B is a lovely base from which to experience it. Kevin, Wendy & Boudin are exemplary hosts: we had been there almost five minutes...

Grateful are we to experience this wonderful B & B located in a fanciful neighborhood adjacent to the captivating city of New Orleans. The House of the Rising Sun proved to be so much more than a base-camp as we set out on our 12 to 14 hour activity-filled days. Awakening to the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and recognizing...

What's not to like? Wendy and Kevin shared their lovely home with us. We had a beautiful comfortable room, the rest of house was beautifully decorated with lots of interesting pieces to admire! We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of using the ferry to the French quarter, just about 5 minutes walk from the b&b and another 5 minutes...

Many thanks to Kevin, Wendy, and Boudin for another terrific stay at the House of Rising Sun B &B! Kevin and Wendy are the most gracious hosts. ‘Wonder dog’ Boudin is a sweetheart. Algiers Point, a historical neighborhood in New Orleans, is a peaceful place to be with friendly residents and yet is only a short ferry ride to high-profile...

Everything was awesome. Kevin & Wendy were very welcoming hosts and Boudin was so cute. The atmosphere was like visiting a friend. Such a beautiful house with a fantastic backyard. Spacious & comfortable room and bathroom. Kevin prepared an amazing breakfast for us and gave some regarding our sightseeing tour in the city. Location was perfect as well, only 5...

If you are looking for: - a very nice, perfectly well kept place; and - a lovely, safe and absolutely quiet district (no mass tourism around but a local pub and cafes); and - a chance to get valuable information about the city from locals; and - an easy and quick access to the very center of New Orleans (just...

Kevo was a welcoming host and more so with a cold brew. This BnB offers a nutritious and generous brekkie, cool comfort in private quarters as well as great conversation. Its a wonderful neighbourhood with an interesting history as we learned from our local tour. Quiet and yet convenient to New Orleans central districts just across the river.

This is my second visit to "House of the Rising Sun", and together with a friend, I had ten wonderful days in the house with so much New Orleans / Louisiana / blues / jazz atmosphere. The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood, but only five minutes to the ferry across the Mississippi to Down Town New Orleans (the...

Staying in Algiers

Neighborhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
