The Banana Courtyard was fabulous, a cool oasis in a hot and humid city, with nothing being too much trouble for the hosts, Mary and Hugh. I loved the quietness of the place, but within easy walking distance of the french quarter or the tram to take you beyond. The complimentary soda's and fruit were lovely to come back to...

My wife and I stayed here nov.of 08 and was it an expierience . Mary arranged our cab to the B&B and met us there. After showing us our suite, she personally showed us the way to Bourbon St. (with a cast on). Breakfast with the other guests was a treat. Not enough things could be said about this place...

Almost lost our opportunity to stay here, due to miscommunication re: arrival dates but Mary, our proprietess, jumped through hoops to accommodate us. The website was packed with info and read like a mini guidebook helping to plan our itinerary prior to and upon our arrival. Stanley , our driver, aka, tour guide, was readily available to whisk us to our...

The 1870 Banana Courtyard French Quarter is a really lovely family-run B&B right on the northern corner of the French Quarter, so everything is within easy walking distance. The innkeepers Mary and Hugh are very friendly folks who make you feel welcome right from the first email response and are very helpful with tips on ongoing events, restaurants, what not...

Arriving after a long day my eyes popped out on stalks when I saw our room, the biggest bed this side of debauchery! The Hexagon room is truly a beautiful place to stay, grand and decadent with luxuriant, old style fixtures and fittings complete with it's own fainting couch as well as satellite TV. My favourite room, however, was our...

Great old B&B crammed to the roof with knicknacks. The hosts Mary and Hugh took good care of us, showed us how to get around the French Quarter, talked about travel and history over breakfast...what more could you ask for? Not a fancy corporate hotel chain nor is it located right in the middle of the drunken action, but both...

Talk about attention to detail: our hostess, Mary arranged for airport pickup with local taxi. ( Although I wasn't in synch with the scheduled pickup, our driver waited for us.} The Banana Courtyard is hidden behind a secure fence on the NE edge of the French Quarter. After showing us our suite, we were given complimentary beverages. Then, she showed...

Traveling with my 17 year old daughter on a mother/daughter road trip. Our arrival was a bit rocky...we turned on the wrong street and had to call Mary (the host-ess) to help us get back to her...and there she was...very patient...waving us in. The B&B is very conveniently located, it was our first time to NOLA and we were tired....

A couple of girlfriends and I had been to New Orleans before and we had such a wonderful time we wanted to go back but this time we decided to look into bed and breakfasts. We chose this one because it was very reasonably priced compared to the others and the location. When we called to book a room she...

Our 4 day stay at the Banana Courtyard was fabulous. The room was comfortable and quiet and cool. The hospitality was incredible and always available to answer questions and take care of our needs. After long days it was breathtaking to return to our room.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
