We made a tour through the south of the USA. We spent four nights in this hotel. The location where it is located is very convenient to downtown New Orleans. The room was tidy and well. There is free WIFI and parking. Hotel is not suitable for disabled guests. Breakfast is outside and scanty.

This is a very nice, clean property with lots of charm. We had a room in the back and it was very quiet, our friends had a room in front on the street and said they could hear street noise and the front gate closing during the night. The breakfast was nice and the staff very friendly. Overall, this is...

We stayed at The Prytania Oaks for 3 nights. We were in room 162, which although was a very nice room it had its issues. Being an old wooden house with wood floors it made our room (on the ground floor) quite noisy. The bathroom was lovely with a great shower, however, I do feel that it lacked a nice...

This place was a great find!!! I must admit that I have always belived I needed to stay at a big chain hotel to get what I expected but I have been proved wrong because of this place. If you are looking for value, the charm of a New Orleans building, comfort and exemplarary cleanliness, this is the place for...

Check-in personnel were very friendly and gave a positive start to our stay. We were in a Queen room 269 which was comfortable with fridge, microwave, big shower stall and good wifi. Great local restaurants plus a couple chains are within walking distance. It’s only ½ block to streetcar (under repair when we were there, and replaced by bus) to...

Just returned from a week at the Oaks celebrating our anniversary (with complimentary champagne). Great staff, clean room, good location, free parking (with security) and free continental breakfast. The Oaks is located just outside the central business district on the edge of the Garden District. Convenient location ... just a bus or street car ride to anywhere you want to...

Great price, friendly staff, free parking, close to street car line on St. Charles. The location is interesting but definitely a bit seedy. There are run down buildings all around it and walking home at night we were very conscious of who was around us. However, most disconcerting to us was the fact that we thought we had booked Prytania...

I am truly sorry for the confusion our names have caused this guest. We offer 2 properties, that have similar names, but very different price points, amenities, and ambiance. When this guest checked in, she questioned her accomodations stating she had booked from our website and that we assigned her a different room type at the wrong property. We pulled...

This hotel is located between the Garden District and The French Quarter approximately 1 1/2 miles walk each way. The walk isn't bad considering you spend most of the time looking at things along the way. It's also one block away from St. Charles St where you can catch the bus to anywhere. This hotel was very clean and beautifully...

We recently stayed at the Prytania Oakes with m parents. On the whole we were pleased, there were a few issues that bugged me though. The first is a small issue. They have lovely four poster beds in the rooms. The only problem with our room was that they had mounted the TV on the wall with the bottom post...

This was my wife's first visit to New Orleans, so I decided to pick a hotel a little ways outside of the hustle and noise of the French Quarter. This turned out to be the perfect place to stay. Just a short block off St. Charles so there's easy access to local transit. Unfortunately, the street car is still not...

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
