For a weekend trip to New Orleans, with friends we continued to dig for the best places to stay and stumbled upon the Chateau Orleans. This is not so much of a hotel as it is condos and townhouses for rent. The location was very good, Burgandy street, just a 2 block walk to Bourbon. Actually we left the courtyard... More

Chateau Orleans does not have great street appeal. It is hidden on Rue de Burgundy, just near the back of the Ritz Carlton and the Saint. However, once found, it is a true gem. I read the reviews beforehand, and would add: 1. The pool is really big and refreshing. I was expecting it to be smaller. The pictures did... More

To my dismay, after visiting this time, I believe it will be my last vacation here at the Chateau. My family has owned a timeshare at the Chateau Orleans for many years, and recently my grandparents (who owned the timeshare) passed, so my boyfriend, sister, and myself decided to come down in remembrance of them. Let me begin with the... More

Gorgeous old school hotel with a very friendly staff! It's two blocks from Bourbon and an easy walk to the touristy places like, Cafe Du Monde and the 1800 House! Will definitely be staying here in the future! It feels very safe and is quiet!

We stayed here for a week with our two kids. We were happy with the accommodations; we had a one bedroom suite with a small kitchenette and had a balcony that overlooked the pool. We did not have any problems with noise and found the nights restful. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly and the property was very secure.... More

If you want to experience true New Orleans style, this is a great choice! It's not a cookie cutter chain resort. It is old and "outdated" and it has it's own aroma, but I think those are part of what we loved about it. This place is incredibly charming. Everyone in our very large group (12 ladies) was impressed with... More

Lovely hotel, top location, friendly and helpful staff, clean but slightly outdated rooms, would definitely recommend this hotel. We went as a couple but would happily bring our children here. Must visit Red Slipper, a fantastic breakfast and lunch restaurant around the corner on Canal Street, must catch the street car to Garden District.

We stayed 6 nights in room A5 on the Second floor. Our suite was spacious with a double balcony overlooking the courtyard. Bathroom need updating but it was functional. Ice machine and free stacked laundry unit was on the first floor so everything was very convenient. Several great restaurants less than 2 blocks away. I would definitely stay here again.

Conveniently located in the French Quarter just off Canal and Basin out of the noise but in walking distance to everything. Attractively decorated 3-room suite with balcony, but clearly an older building well-maintained. Helpful staff led by manager-concierge Paul. Quiet courtyard with pool and wrought iron tables and chairs. Wifi only in that area. One of the two buildings has... More

A great little hotel although in need of a refurb. The rooms are old. We stayed in a one bedroom with sleeper couch in the lounge opening onto the courtyard. We didn't use the "kitchen" and the bathroom is very old and a little grubby. Wi-fi in the room wasn't great but fine in the courtyard. Unfortunately the coffee station... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
