The Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue hotel in Louisiana is located in the heart of the New Orleans Central Business District, three blocks off Canal Street and blocks from the world-famous French Quarter and Bourbon Street. This landmark building was built in 1926 as the Masonic Temple and was the second high-rise to be built in the Central Business District. The Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue hotel underwent extensive renovation and has re-emerged as an upscale, premier hotel experience in the Crescent City. The architecture, exquisite woodwork and other design detail from the artisans of the 1920s is evident throughout the hotel and highlighted by the original chandeliers at the main entrance, original marble floors and walls, original stained glass windows, and the elaborate, hand-crafted inlay tile ceiling in the Grand Entry Hall. Walk into the Hilton New Orleans hotel and take a step back in time to luxury hotels of the past - hotels that made New Orleans famous.

Due to a late flight on 9/16, we arrived early morning (12:30am) on 9/17 for my birthday weekend. Changed rooms 4 times due to a musty/mildew smell in every room. Had no choice but to settle for the last room #1716 which had dirty floors and dated/old furniture. Remained awake the entire night as I was suffering from a severe migraine triggered by the odor in the room. Was told by the staff "this is Louisiana and all of the rooms smell like that". By 9am, after making several phone calls, I was able to secure another hotel in the area. Spoke to the day manager who apologized for the issues and offered us breakfast at Luke's, the restaurant in the hotel. Told us to charge it to the room and they would waive the fee as well as waive the fees for the remainder of the stay but she said she would not be able to waive the fee for the 6 hour stay, although were inconvenienced and changed room 4 times. However, my credit card was charged for the meal at Luke's and $255 for the 6 hour stay at this hotel. I'm extremely disappointed in this Hilton property not only because of the condition of the rooms, but for the fact there is obviously a housekeeping issue going on here in addition to the night manager who was rude and sleeping at the desk but mostly for the lack of consideration that some guests may have disabilities and/or medical conditions which can be triggered by the odors in this hotel and could end up hospitalized which was almost the situation in my case.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed at the Hilton New Orleans/St. Charles Avenue for a 5-day, extended weekend getaway. The hotel was clean and quaint, aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and the staff were friendly. Upon entering the room we noticed a slightly stale smell and when brought to the attention of the staff, we were promptly provided with a satisfactory solution (moved to a new room). Vivek was very friendly and attentive and the GM Kenneth was the one to provide us with immediate resolve. If you visit this hotel it is a must to eat at the on-site restaurant “Luke”. The chicken biscuit with a side of grits are highly recommended & the lemon cake for dessert. Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 service. Way to go Hilton!

Rolita and Mason at the front desk were absolutely amazing. They were very accommodating to everything we needed during the weekend. I booked five rooms for a group through Expedia which made room reservations a little tricky, but they were very patient while helping me multiple times. Chris the bellman also deserves recognition. He was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about local attractions. He did a great job taking care of us as well. Overall, the hotel stay was perfect. The location of this hotel made it very easy to travel into the French Quarter or even take the trolley on St. Charles and through the garden district. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The AC worked great which is always nice, and the room felt more spacious than usual. We were in a room with two queen beds. The only downside to this location is the age of the building, as nothing is brand new on the inside. You can certainly say that this gives it some charm as well, but it’s always nice staying in a freshly renovated or brand new building. Will definitely consider this location again for my next New Orleans trip. One last thing, you need to eat at Luke’s which is connected to the Hilton lobby. Can’t go wrong with the oysters and gumbo.

We had an ‘adventure getting to NO from Houston for my Aunts memorial service. My car stopped running without warning 2 miles from Willie Mae’s Scotch House. 3-hour wait for AAA so my husband called Audi for instructions on getting it to run enough to get to the dealership. Scary. No rental cars available in the city … so we called home to have our son and daughter to drive our other vehicle from Houston. It was a long day by the time we arrived at the hotel needing another room. BUT ROLITA came to the rescue, comped us a much needed suite. We’re diamond members but she treated me like it, making me finally see the benefit. Thank you Lady.

This hotel is a must if you are visiting for sports, conferences, or just for fun. It’s close to the Superdome and an easy walk to the French Quarters. I do recommend parking in the garage across the street. Valet parking may be a bit pricey.

Hotel is decent. We had a corner room which honestly had a strange layout. For the size of the room the space was underutilized. The room could have easily fit a 3rd queen so with that type of space, Hilton should really consider making the bathrooms bigger or at least double sinks. SOMETHING. Rooms felt a little dated but overall amenities were fine. Location is also great. Not too far a way from Bourbon or Royal Street if you wanna do some shopping. Streetcar stop right in front. Lobby is large and air conditioned.

UP: Service in front desk very friendly. DOWN: My room had only HOT water in the bathroom. Waiting time for Valet parking is long and there is only one guy, not good if you consider that you are paying USD50 per room for valet parking. A Lot of noise because of the trolley.

From the moment we arrived at the Hilton St. Charles we had incredible interactions with the staff. I'm a frequent traveler, and have never stayed at another hotel with so many positive interactions with staff members. When we got out of our Lyft we met Chris who took our luggage in, and up to our room for us, and gave us information on the hotel, and the area. We ended up running into him later outside the hotel as both of us where going to lunch. He immediately recognized us, and spoke to us. He also stored our luggage at check out, and put it into our Lyft for us. Ashleigh, the manager, was amazing! We're history buffs, and paranormal enthusiasts, so she took the time to tell us the history of the hotel, and offered to take us to some areas that guests don't have open access to. We got back later that night than expected, but when we checked out Martin from Maintenance really went above and beyond his job title by taking us to see the Chapel, and the old auditorium. He was so nice, and answered our questions about both rooms. Mason who worked nights at the desk gave us a dinner recommendation that ended up being the best restaurant we ate at our entire trip. Every single staff member that we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful! For the age of the hotel it is well maintained, and extremely clean. We had room 406 which was a double corner room. It was twice the size of a typical hotel room which was really nice having 3 women all trying to get ready every day. The location could not be more perfect either. You can walk to almost anything, and whatever is too far to walk to you can easily jump onto a street car. The restaurant, Luke's, has great food, and our waitress was so sweet! The one issue we had during our stay is that the fire alarm went off at 6:30am on Sunday, our final day. Since we where on the 4th floor, and the stairs where right by our room, we where the first guests out of the building. The valet immediately told us it was a false alarm, and we could go back up, but it took over 10 minutes for them to announce it over the intercom. I feel so sorry for the people on the higher floors that went all the way down, and had to go all the way back up. They could have announced that it was a false alarm much sooner. I realize that's a rare occurrence, and the staff has protocols they need to follow in those situations, so it did not change my overall experience with the hotel. I will be back next time I'm in New Orleans.

My experience at this Hilton was my first hotel experience ever in New Orleans. In fact, our trip to Essence was my first trip to the city ever, so I didn’t quite know what to expect. From the moment I stepped through the doors into the beautiful, air conditioned lobby (it was hot and muggy all weekend because of the spotty storms but that surely didn’t stop me and my setting spray), I was blown away. The suite we were upgraded to was gorgeous and very spacious, the bathroom was HUGE, and our room wasn’t too far from the elevators but not close enough that the dinging would drive us nuts. The hotel itself is super close to Canal and Bourbon, so we could go grab a bite to eat and a daiq and be back within 10 minutes. Luke’s restaurant was also beautiful and by the time I arrived from the airport the afternoon of our first day, my friends already knew the whole staff by name and vice versa. The hostess there with the braids (I cannot remember her name for the life of me) was fabulous and she gave us some great club and restaurant recommendations as well has suggestions for grabbing last minute things for a surprise engagement party we were throwing for a friend also staying in the area. The drinks were sublime and the bartenders were great. Anyway all that’s cool, but the real star of the stay was Chris, one of the fantastic bellmen. He really made our group feel like family, in fact, he is our adopted uncle now. He took care of bringing our bags down from our suite and packed them in our uber when we were ready to go. When I say took care, he literally would not let us lift a bag (love that). He gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations as well. Every interaction we had with him was so funny and warm, there’s just nothing like Southern hospitality. Everyone is family. That man deserves a raise. The Hilton St. Charles is definitely a must stay again hotel for me and I hope to get back to the city very soon!
