This was my second visit to the Barracks and certainly won't be my last. Kelly and Sugah B are excellent hostesses. I've only stayed in the suite, but the other rooms look nice too! So close to walk to the market and anywhere else in the quarter. I feel so perfectly at home here!

Fabulous guest house, great location. Kelly couldn't have been more welcoming as we arrived. In the French Quarter not far from everything. Queen bed, microwave, refrigerator, cold AC and ceiling fan. Great accommodations. Looking forward to coming back soon. Thanks!

We recently spent 2 nights in the Blue Room at RBGH. Kelly is a wonderful host, welcoming guests like old friends with a glass of wine on the stoop. As other guests have reviewed, this is a quiet guesthouse within walking distance to everything in NO. It's not a sterile, hotel environment and the Blue Room was quite small so... More

It is located SO CLOSE to all the main attractions, but you can get the quiet rooms, even though you are just a block from all the actions! Can't say the same thing for the guesthouses located ON the main streets....feel bad for them since the area is not allowed to install double paned windows (Historical buildings). Kelly and Sugah... This place is nothing less than amazing, beautiful rooms decorated with style. Old building with charm, and the location is perfect, close to everything and in the quiet area of the french quarter. The host Kelly is simply fantastic, arranging, advicing for all you want to experience in New orleans - and every afternoon at 5pm there is happy hour... More

This was the second time staying at the Royal Barracks. Love it. Stayed in the Blue Room. Cool and funky as always! Also, the street is quiet. The hostess/manager is very friendly and great to talk to. Will stay here again. I love funky, quirky, quiet, and comfortable.

We've been here three times, and this trip sealed the deal for future trips due to the kindness of Kelly, the hostess and her adorable dog Sugah! She sits with us and socializes while sharing ideas of places to visit, so we get a local's perspective. Our favorite room is the suite so that we have a comfortable place to... More

Probably would give it 3.5 if possible. It ranks four stars for the location and hospitality. Quiet and convenient. I stayed in The Suite, and it could use a bit of TLC. But I have recommended it to others and would stay there again. Good value for NOLA. Free WiFi is a plus. If you want to hang out on... More

Best experience! I've been to NOLA several times but by far staying at the Royal Barracks made my experience exceptional. You are welcomed by Kelly who is absolutely wonderful and makes you feel right at home! We stayed in the Peacock Room set in a Shotgun style house. There is a quaint courtyard in the back for a pre or... More

We absolutely loved staying here! We stayed December 17-20. Upon arrival, Kelly and the dog gave us a tour, a glass of Chardonnay, and showed us to our room. I love how private our room seemed. We stayed in the Blue Room, which was the smallest room, but we don't need much space. The bed was comfortable, bottled water was... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
