We LOVE staying here! Quiet, quaint, and clean – Gentry House offers you a true French Quarter experience in an early 19th century Creole cottage. Ideally located just steps away from Louis Armstrong Park and few short blocks from Bourbon Street, Gentry House is close enough to enjoy all the action but far enough away to escape the noise when... Long story short, if you like having your door unlocked after midnight by the staff when you're asleep and on ambien, have them come shake you awake, pull you out of bed when you're in your underwear, make you get dressed and pack your bags so they can move you to the room they SHOULD have put you in at... We did indeed make a mistake, putting her into the 4-person room instead of the couples’ room that she’d booked. When the two couples arrived (late), we did have to make the change, for which we apologized profusely and about which she was amiable and completely understanding at the time. (Our recollection of the details is very different, and we... More

The B&B is close enough to the French Quarter to walk but far enough to be very quiet. The owners are very kind and will go out of their way for you. The rooms are clean and fresh croissants are delivered every day. The kitchenette was a good size for us to make quick meals, but let's be honest, you... More

The location of the Gentry House is central and walking distance to everything in the French Quarter, but on a fairly quiet street in a nice neighborhood. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, and the delivery of fresh, hot croissants in the morning is a REALLY nice touch! I stayed in the Toulouse, a large one bedroom apartment upstairs. The... I stayed in a one bedroom bottom floor suite for 8 days. It had a fully stocked refrigerator, large bedroom, T.V., small dining area, and pull out couch. The first day the hosts arranged an inexpensive, but very informative with walking tour which allowed me to get a general understanding of the history and local dining and jazz spots. Gentry... Stayed four nights with three other friends in this at this wonderful place. It fir four nicely without us steeping over each other. The St louis has one one AC that cools the entire unit, which is located in the living room, so keep the bedroom doors open to cool off the room. The host were amazing and the patio area... More

We recently spent 4 nights at the Gentry House and had a wonderful stay. We had a two bedroom suite that sported three single beds and a queen. The accommodations were clean and there were fresh delicious croissants delivered to our suite every morning. Brian and Charlotte were wonderful hosts. It was a short walk to all destinations in the... More

Can't beat location in the French quarter. We walked everywhere. The owners recommended a parking garage about 6 blocks away which was very secure. At check in and check out we were easily able to unload and pack up. The room was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed the courtyard and fountain. Definitely would recommend.

Brian and Charlotte are a wonderful host and hostess. They made our family feel so welcome to the city and their lovely home. The crossaint breakfast was delicious. We hope to stay with them again in the future. :)

My wife,13 y.o. daughter and I travelled to New Orleans in mid-March and we really enjoyed our stay at the B & B. Charlotte & Brian Furness were very helpful and so was their assistant - Angela. It had a nice little courtyard where you can sit and the facilities were "homey". The apartment we were in had a kitchen,... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
