This was our first experience with an "airbnb". The Bywater area is part of the 9th Ward that was so badly damaged during Katrina. A comeback has been underway and there are several promising premises. The Lookout on Poland Ave is one of them. We had the Mardi Gras Suite which is beautifully appointed and very well maintained. The living... More

Absolutely fantastic stay. The owner was friendly and very helpful. The grounds and the room were awesome! We stayed in the Mardi Gras room. It was spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be back.

My two brothers and my sister and their spouses, visited the USA from Australia for my daughter's wedding in June 2016. The one place they all wanted to go was New Orleans. I am so glad I found the Lookout Inn. It was perfect for four couples as we all had our own room with a bathroom. The pool was... More

We stayed here for a long weekend and loved it!! Kelly, our Innkeeper, is warm, gracious and attentive, and her dog, Percy, is a happy, furry bonus:) The luxurious backyard garden, with saltwater pool, hot tub & cabana, was a welcome respite at the end of hot, dusty days exploring NOLA. The neighborhood has so much to offer: morning walks... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night in June 2016 on a road trip and wished we could have stayed longer. We booked the Mission Suite and absolutely loved it. The decorations was awesome and it was nice to get a room that size, with a living room basically, being on a road trip where we usually just... More

Everything was wonderful and we truly regretted not being able to stay longer. Kelly is such a great host, very caring and helpful. The rooms were spacious and just as in the pictures. We enjoyed our beer in the hot tub and cooled off in the pool. THANK you!

My husband and I took our first trip to New Orleans back in April. I chose to stay at the Lookout Inn because I wanted to keep it NO authentic and it had really great reviews. I wasn't interested in staying in a hotel. I am SO glad I picked the Lookout Inn. It's June and I'm still reminiscing about... More

What a fantastic place. Stayed for a week and could've stayed longer..maybe something to do with that barmuda triangle...Kelly and Mark were ace. Easy uber ride out of the bywater if the madness beckons, nice and cool by the pool with enough going on in the neighbourhood to recover and relax if madness isn't your bag. A definite must come... This place has four suites to choose from: Bollywood Suite, Mission Suite, Elvis Suite and Mardi Gras Suite. The suites are the size of a double room, with an additional large bathroom. Each suite is decorated nicely, but not overwhelmingly. The owners are wonderful, even left local caramel candy on the pillows. We stayed at the Mission Suite, and loved... More

The Lookout is a fantastic oasis that I would definitely recommend. Kelly and Mark are amazing! The rooms seem larger in person than the pictures indicate and the décor is quirky and fun. Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
