A must-see area in a bucket-list town, the Garden District offers the lush beauty that many come to New Orleans to experience. Here at Hotel Tonnelle, we complement that exploration with a deep sense of place and parable--all inside the comforts of a modern day Marriott property. Hotel Tonnelle magically manages to feel serenely secluded—and yet, right in the center of it all. One step outside beckons a bustling ride into the city on the iconic St. Charles Streetcar line, or a sauntering swing through the scenery of New Orleans’ world-renowned Garden District. Just as each garden’s winding vines dance across the decorative wrought iron, we invite our guests to join in the spirited allure—whether that be our intimate patio and lounge or more lively restaurant and bar, Seventeen Feet. We welcome our guests much like the sprawling arbors along St. Charles: where each turn is designed to delight the senses, beckoning you to leave your worries behind, and find comfort in the boughs of Tonnelle.

    Great Stay at Hotel Indigo
My daughter and I spent 3 nights at Hotel Indigo. W were on a girls trip to New Orleans. We arrived at the hotel before 11 am but they had a room ready for us so we were able to drop off our things before exploring the city. The hotel along the St. Charles Streetcar line which made it very easy to park the car and take the streetcar using a 3 day pass. The valet parking was an additional $30 per day but I was aware of that soit was not a surprise. Parking is at premium all over the city so the price was not too bad. We had a 2 queen bed room on the 3rd floor. The beds were comfortable and we had alot of pillows. The bathroom was big and beautiful with a large shower stall and a wall seperating the toilet from the rest of the bathroom. We had alot of counter space. The TV was very large with a good selection of channels. We did not try the restaurant off the lobby as there are several places to eat in easy walking distance. there is a small convience store across Jackson. We had a great time in NOLA and we were really glad we made Hotel Indigo our base for the trip.

    Nice hotel, but dirty
We stayed at the Hotel Indigo the Monday after Mardi Gras. The hotel is in a quiet location in the Garden District, about 2 miles away from the French Quarter. You can catch the street car across the street for $1.25 a ride or $3.00 for a 24 hour pass which will take you to the French Quarter. The hotel is situated a few blocks from Magazine St which is a great street for shopping and dining. The rooms are big and spacious. Beds are comfortable, good towels, Aveda bathroom products. My only issue is that everything was dirty at the hotel. The carpet outside the room had confetti and debris from the 1st day we arrived till we departed. The floor in front of the elevator on our floor looked like it had mud or dog poop from someone’s shoes. That never got cleaned either. The men’s room had no toilet paper in the commode. The breakfast menus were all stained and sticky. You would think with Corona Virus that they would be cleaning the place well. I wouldn’t stay here again based on the lack of cleanliness at this hotel. I travel a lot and don’t expect a hotel to be spotless but should never be visibly dirty day after day.
Hi there tman12 Thanks for letting us know about the details of your stay. About the cleanliness issue you mention, we will definitely look into it and make the proper adjustments as soon as possible. I will forward your review to our management so they can take proper action regarding this. I really hope you enjoyed your stay, as you may probably know, our Indigo Hotels are among the most special hotels in the world. They are definitely a unique experience. Other than that, I just want to humbly appreciate your choice and let you know that we would love to have your visit again in the future — with the proper adjustments of course. Thanks! Alejandro G. Case Manager. IHGService.

The location is very good if you want to be close to St. Charles Ave Trolley.
The pictures do not accurately express the dreariness and darkness I encountered. The lobby is a little disjointed, not able to see how large and welcoming this hotel could be. The elevator is very small and when the doors opened on third floor I was really disappointed, very gaudy dark colors that let no light shine or reflect. My room was very average, no spark like the pictures show. The room spoke of no one cares here.... It was very dark and the lighting very poor. The upholstery on the bench at the end of the bed was stained, the dresser had numerous swatches of unknown past spills the bed looked comfortable and the reading lights worked well. Inattentiveness to detail was everywhere in small ways, add toiletires as needed, pay attention when coffee or tea needs to be added. The front desk staff said the hotel had changed owners in December after having many other "brands" in the past. The restaurant was rarely busy and when our group of three had Dinner I questioned what the 18% meant that was added on the Bill, no one knew! Soon after someone called and said they were adjusting the Bill because the IRD for 18% was for room service.... So, I was there and made the best of it but will not return.
Dear Fran G, Thank you for choosing Hotel Indigo New Orleans Garden District and for sharing your experience with us. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the service of our staff and the maintenance as well as the ambience of our hotel. We will investigate this further with our team. It is very important for us that all our guests have a very comfortable and enjoyable stay as we strive to maintain a high quality standard of service at all times. I will use your comments to improve our guests experience and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

So glad decided to book this hotel last moment for a business trip. Did not want to stay in the French Quarter. Felt safer here. Just was purchased from Marriott and could not find it listed with Uber. Had to but in the physical address. Everyone was delightful and professional at the hotel. For Platinum members, you get a $19 credit to select anything off the menu. Honored late checkout. Rooms are fine just dated but I loved the bed and nigh bathroom. In room coffee was good. From a local coffee shop. Only request would be a refrigerator. It is New Orleans and hot. A bottle or two in the room would be welcomed.

The hotel is in a wonderful location and clean, but they didn't have proper curtains on the windows! So much light came into our room at 6am! It was really annoying because when you're in NOLA, you're most likely staying out late and want to sleep in a bit in the morning... but you can't when the sun is beaming in your face. I asked the front desk if there was anything they could do about it and they firmly said "no". Plus the breakfast they served for $50 was horrendous. But otherwise, the hotel was nice. I recommend before booking to check to see if they fixed the curtain situation, because if you are not an early bird, you could be taking a gamble on your sleep.

Hello Sharif428, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. It's clear from your comments that there were both positive aspects in your stay and areas for us to work on, and each piece of feedback offers us invaluable insight. You've commended the wonderful location of our hotel and the cleanliness - these two are key measures in maintaining an enjoyable stay for our guests. Hence, it's gratifying to know that these aspects met your expectations and enhanced your experience. However, it's regrettable to hear about your experience with the window coverings. We apologize that there was too much light coming in into your room early in the morning. Guest comfort is paramount to us, particularly with regards to ensuring our guests can enjoy restful sleep regardless of their sleep schedules. It's unfortunate to hear that this was not your experience, and we appreciate your feedback on this point. Your interaction with our front desk in regard to this matter is something we take very seriously as well. It seems we failed to meet your expectations in this interaction, which does not align with our goal to be accommodating and to provide meaningful resolutions to our guest concerns. Now, addressing your feedback on the breakfast; we're truly sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations, especially considering its value. We strive to offer a variety of high-quality dining options that cater to the varied tastes and preferences of our guests. Your feedback is crucial for us to make the necessary improvements. In spite of these issues, it's good to know that you still found our hotel nice in general. Rest assured that the points you've raised about the curtains and breakfast will be forwarded to the appropriate departments to ensure that necessary action is taken and improvements are made. We truly appreciate your recommendation and we also suggest that future guests inquire about any specific preferences or requirements they may have when booking to ensure their stay suits their needs. Overall, we thank you for helping the Hotel Tonnelle New Orleans improve, and we’re hopeful that we’ll have the chance to welcome you back and provide a more satisfactory experience in the future. The satisfaction and wellbeing of our guests are undeniably at the heart of what we do. Please accept our gratitude for providing us with constructive input to continually refine our guest experience.

Usually I stay in Metairie or downtown, but decided to give Hotel Tonnelle in the Garden District a shot to change things up. And I am so thankful I did. What a gem this hotel is - it’s across from a streetcar stop, the food in the rest is decent, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are some of the best I have encountered at any hotel. They even have daily housekeeping which has become rare since COVID. The hotel also is near lots of good restaurants and it’s so safe even at night. I suggest you give this hotel consideration because you won’t be disappointed!

I don’t want to discourage anyone from staying here. It’s “ok” as a low-end tourist hotel if all else is booked. The staff is excellent and does their best. But, The cleaning left much to be desired. The overall cleaning seemed to be minimal. A previous guest left crumbs on the couch and rug. They were never vacuumed up. There were some dust webs in the ceiling corners. Some mold in the shower. The toilet was never really cleaned (and there’s no brush in the room). The internet is slow (and occasionally just stopped). The food service is minimal. Even for breakfast, we went down the street to the Pontchartrain (same prices, better food). The decor is, I think, mid-90s. In all, it needs a major refresh.

Came down for Jazz Fest Read the reviews on Marriott website Hotel bought and no notice shared in any communication from the old or new owners Booked many months ago because the availability of hotels during the Fest is limited. The good: Front desk and maid service were helpful and responsive Location good for N’Awlins The bad: -Needs a major update- I’ve stayed in the hotel before and the previous owners let it go The gym is a joke -The entrance to the room would not pass ADA standards and I had to squeeze myself and luggage into the room -Bed was highly uncomfortable and the furniture was quite worn out. -Asked when breakfast was served and told 11:30 am. Got down there at 1045. There was one service person and no tables bussed. Told there were closed. No manager was present and staff was unsure when he or she were coming in. Bottom line -Marriott needs to build a better culture of accountability with management and update what was once a nice hotel. As a Bonvoy member, the hotel listing should reflect what myself and others have shared until these matters are resolved.

We were expecting a new hotel so we were a little disappointed when we found an older hotel with poor signage. The hallways needed some TLC and were not as clean as we would like but the room was clean and the staff was exceptional. They are I. The process of renovating so once this is done it will be a really nice place to stay.

This hotel is no longer called the "Hotel Indigo" It is now called: "Hotel Tonnelle" I can see why they would change names and franchises frequently at this location. The staff was nice and the rooms were ok. This was the best part. There were no other "best parts" They charge for everything, nothing free here, no free parking, no continental breakfast, coffee in the lobby was $3.50 per cup. This is a ghetto location, close to I-10, lots of homeless people in this area so be prepared to be approached and solicited. There really isn't a real reason to stay here unless the city is full and overbooked during a major event and this is all you could find. The building is showing its age and wear and if you look closely in the lobby, elevators and your room, you'll see it. There is no reason for me to return here.

The hotel is nice. I like the decor. The rooms are a very good size. The beds are firm. The bathroom is huge. The service was impeccable, especially Michael. He was awesome. He was very engaging and accommodating. I felt like he wanted us to have our best stay ever. It is in a great location across from the Street Car so you can hop on and in a few stops be in the French Quarter. There are lots of restaurants around it also.
