We really enjoyed Harrah's New Orleans now that the casino is smoke free. Staying at the Harrah's hotel gave us easy access to the casino via the underground tunnel. It's also very close to the French Quarter, Aquarium and River Walk shopping. The WWII museum is a short distance by pedicab. Manning's, Ruth Chris, Gordon Biersch and Grand Isle restaurants... A very beautiful New Orleans themed casino. It captured the very spirit of downtown New Orleans. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the food at the buffet because I was able to sample many of the city's famous dishes. Bur most of all I was lucky on the slots...yaye me!

Had a fun time here. Clean, roomy, friendly staff. Had a hard time getting drinks ordered on the floor with slit machines. Sat there for hours and no one would come by. Other than that great casino and we had a fun time. We didn't stay in a room, were only there to gamble. Even the dealers were great and... More

Some of the machines offer 1 reward credit for every 200.00 wagered like the electronic roulette game. Every reward credit is worth 1 cent for food. Or at fuddruckers it's worth half a cent for food. You would have to wager 320,000.00 dollars just to get a 8.00 hamburger at fuddruckers... It's not even worth playing with your card in... More

I was very excited for my first trip to New Orleans since I was eight plus I love to gamble. As a frequent visitor to the properties I expected to get my requests. Simple. Higher floor with a view. I got seventh floor with a view of the next buildings rooftop air conditioning unit. The room was nice but the... More

A gold star for Harrahs Casino and Hotel -This place is classy with Mardi Gras theme and large. The Masquerade Nightclub - study the sculptured reliefs and murals. The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I visit/stay many times a year. A great comeback after such a disastrous Katrina - I watched the improvements over the years.

Had a great time at the casino and even won a few dollars. The casino needs a few more table games and tables, but the slot machine are fairly new.For those of you that have never been to the casino, order draft beer, it is free.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

“If you can score one of higher rooms, facing the Mississippi, especially a suite, it is well worth it for the view. Keep in mind it is a working river so there will be the sounds of the tugboats, trains, etc if you're on lower floors.”
