It was our first experience at a B&B and the bar was set very high!!! Booking was so easy and I just can’t imagine that our experience could have been any better. Brent was an outstanding and very personable host. The breakfasts he made each morning were amazing and something you would pay a lot for in a nice restaurant. He really knows how to make people feel welcome and also has some funny stories to tell! We met some wonderful people and sat around the breakfast table for almost two hours each morning! The house is gorgeous and I just can’t say enough about it. The location was right near a trolley stop if you are heading to Bourbon Street or any of the popular attractions. Yet, we were surprised at how quiet it was at night despite being close to the nightlife. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit New Orleans! …
We were visiting my daughter who lives a couple blocks down on the same quiet street in this cute Mid-City neighborhood. Even before we got there, Brent upgraded us to a larger room next to the “sad Napoleon” portrait. Beyond hospitable, he invited our daughter over for yummy blueberry waffles on the morning of the 4th. We rode our bikes everywhere; New Orleans is a “silver” bicycle friendly community. However, Brent advised us to bring our bikes in to avoid theft and let us stash them in his office. Fresh-brewed local coffee available from 7a-on is SOOO good! I met many of the other guests with our mugs on the front porch discussing the day’s plans and Wordle. Brent has recommendations AND personal knowledge of local chefs, pools, grocery stores and can’t miss local attractions. We can’t wait to visit again…I’m glad my daughter has neighbors that treat you like family!…
Charming historic home, beautifully restored and decorated with period and subtly whimsical art. Louis XIV and Louis Armstrong together again for the first time! Friendly, helpful host, plus delicious, bountiful breakfasts.
First time staying at a B&B and I must say it will be hard to stay at a hotel now. Brent & Jennifer were amazing hoist and hostesses if it wasn't for them two it would not be where it is today. I must say Brent is an excellent cook as he is a chef by trade and lives up to it. The Breakfast were all amazing the three days we were there. Fresh clean towels and linens and had no problems with anything. We enjoyed learning and seeing pictures of the O'Malley house and getting to know the history. Next time we are in the Big Easy we will be staying there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The host, Brent, was wonderful. The breakfast was high quality and the house itself was lovely. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. The location is also ideal for tourists as you are close enough to town to enjoy the sights by either taking a trolley or a 7-10 minute drive in your car.
The 1896 O'Malley House is a beautiful place to stay for a few nights with the amazing host, Brent, who will take of anything you need. The locations is wonderful, 1/2 block from public transportation to downtown, it's quiet and safe. Parking is street side and I felt perfectly fine leaving my car for four days. The house offers a wonderful front porch (where we met three other couples living within a 50 mile radius of us) and a courtyard at the back of the house. The house is beautifully decorated with antiques and wonderful artwork. Our room (#6) was spacious and clean, the bathroom very small, but adequate. Our friends room was as beautiful, with a huge bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and after busy days exploring, we got some very good sleep. It was very quiet inside and we never heard any noise from other guests. Brent makes amazing breakfasts and is a wealth of information. After cooking breakfast for all of us, he came and sat at the breakfast table to chat. Hot and cold water, tea, ice, a communal refrigerator/freezer and a microwave are available 24/7. We could not have picked a better place to stay in NOLA and hopefully we will be back. Thank you, Brent!…
Great host, right next to Canal St Street Car Line. Good restaurants within walking distance. Gourmet breakfasts. Brent, our host gave us advice only a local would know. This is better than any hotel in NOLA.
Located one block away from Canal Street and two blocks from the nearest street car stop, the 1896 O'Malley House is super convenient to reach the French Quarter. The street car usual fare of $1.25/person one way or $3/person for a day pass becomes $0.80/person for a day pass (24 hours) if you are age 65+. The accommodations at the 1896 O'Malley House were very comfortable and private (sound proof from neighboring rooms). The mattress on the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The daily breakfast varied with each day and had a little something for everyone. The conversation around the table was also a high point in our visit. We were surprised to find four other couples staying there who lived less than 50 miles from one another and us. Brent was a great host and offered suggestions we gladly received. All things considered, this was a great place to stay and we would strongly recommend it to others.…
I "surprised" my husband Chris for his 65th birthday with a stay at the O'Malley House when we were visiting our daughter in April. Usually, he is not a fan of B & B's as he likes his privacy and we often have to do work in the morning when we travel. We both loved our beautiful spacious room and the access we had to the entire home. Brent generously let Chris use his office for a Zoom meeting and Chris was delighted to sit in the beautiful sitting room each morning completing work tasks. As others have stated, we took advantage of the wonderful location, for walks around the neighborhood, cable car rides to French Quarter and New Orleans Museum of Art and great restaurants. Brents delicious breakfasts with helpful NOLA info were a great way to begin our day of exploring. Plenty of outdoor space for enjoying a cocktail at night. We will be back!…
We stayed three nights during March and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect for accessing the Canal Street streetcar line, just one block away. The B&B is quiet and very well run by Brent who makes delilcious breakfasts. He also possesses a wealth of knowledge about the area and is simply a joy to talk to. Our room on the second floor was very comfortable and well kept. If we were to stay in Mid-City again we would definitely return.
