Wanted to stay in the Garden District and the price was right. Checking in was a little awkward. You can park on the street in front of the Mansion but didn’t know that prior to arrival. Very old, unique room with very high ceiling. Comfortable room temp was difficult to maintain. Perfect for a base to explore the city for...

convenient to public transportation and located in the garden district. A beautiful place - be careful if you are handicapped - lots of stairs to climb. Coffee was a K-cup machine, and breakfast was good. We got an early start most days and didn't eat there.

An amazing sight as you arrive with the entrance hall and the public rooms looking like a museum. After a great first impression things went downhill rapidly, the member of staff was abrupt and unhelpful, we had only asked for a couple of pillows but was told that there were none, which we later found out was untrue. After being...

Beautiful mansion, but not a good place to stay. Coldest two nights of my life and it was hot and humid outside. Central AC was not working properly and the other upstairs rooms complained the first morning of being too hot. My room was F R E E Z I N G - the Moulin Rouge room. Never mind the...

Magnolia Mansion is breathtakingly beautiful. We had a tour of the entire house before deciding to book a room. We were very pleased with the service and cleanliness of the home. The breakfast was small but enough. The location is very convenient and close to several touristy areas. Frenchman's St., Bourban St., and Jackson Square are nearby. It was very...

I had my heart set on staying in The Vampire Lovers Lair room at Magnolia Mansion for almost 14 years after becoming obsessed with Anne Rice and The Vampire Chronicles. My husband finally made my dream come true and I was not disappointed. The room was everything I had imagined it. Staff was very friendly and addressed me by my...

I enjoyed my stay here, the home is just gorgeous and it's a great location for exploring uptown, being just one block from St. Charles streetcar. The Garden District is a wonderful neighborhood for walking around. Many places to eat close by, District Donuts and Brew is a short walk too. In the morning there was a nice but simple...

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
