Detailed Reviews
We visited New Orleans in feb. 2020 and stayed at the Federal inn and suites.
A perfect hotel to stay at. Quit very clean and professionally managed.
Within 20 minutes by bus or ferry from the french quarter we fully recommend this hotel.
The staff is incredebly friendly and helpful especially a wonderful lady called Lita.
She welcomed us on the first day and made us feel at home right away. She gave us all the information we needed inluding tour and restaurant tips to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Lita is the best.
Thank you for everything Lita.

Stayed here in November 2019, Have to say the rooms are spacious, very clean and beds are comfortable.. Very friendly personnel and helpful. Very convenient to everything, we. used Uber, very inexpensive to get around. If you are driving in for a cruise. they let you park for free during your cruise as long as you stay 1 night with them and the port is only 5 min. away......Great place, great people, I highly recommend staying here. I know I'm coming back.

My wife and I along with our grandchildren have stayed there several times. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the staff is very professional and courteous. Brittany was top notch and made our stay very pleasant. The manager, Ms. Martin was also very accommodating and quite patient with us when we had difficulty with a billing question. We've traveled extensively over the years, and the great customer service we received is rare these days. Highly recommend Federal City Inn & Suites.

Well, this is my second time visiting Louisiana here on the West Bank. The first time I stayed at another military installation near Bell chase was compared to this hotel it is a five-star and it truly is a five-star to me. After checking into this hotel. I was given room And I was taken back by what I've seen the shower enamel or whatever the coating it was peeling upon the tub gross. They had of lack of basic recommend hotel supplies such as toilet paper tissue box. I went back to the young lady at the desk they accommodated me with another room and apologized. but the second room I went in once again this was unhappy. the telephone has a residue of some sort of goo rested on it. The air conditioning had what appears that some food fell on the vent from the previous guess. it wasn't cleaned off I have to go buy Clorox wipes and wipe down the entire area that I knew I was gonna be resting my items on. The plumbing in the showers did not drain properly so I had to cut the water off during my shower so I don't have to stand in dirty water as I clean myself. It just was a bad situation I am very unhappy. I can only guess that no one is walking behind and checking the cleaning staff's work. I never thought that I would have to continue to use my shower shoes in a hotel shower in my room. that's bad I'm not deployed and I'm not at war so why I'm using my shower shoes to take a shower. I hope that the management of this establishment step up and get more involved with the workers and caretakers of this property. without any SOP's or checks and balances customers will always get below standard quality living conditions and with this pandemic is going on you want to feel comfortable in a hotel room and know that it is cleaned. You should not have to second-guess where you staying.

Listened to incessant screaming from a child in one of the nearby rooms for three days and nights. Despite making a call to the front desk, the situation continued. I Housekeeping did not provide toilet paper when there was an empty roll in my room.

The walls are so thin that I left after 90 minutes. The level of noise from the neighboring room was unbearable. Yes, the facility is dated and the furniture is worn, but it was very clean and the room was well put together. It's such a disappointment that you can hear absolutely everything from a neighboring suite. Please find another hotel to stay at.

Don’t stay here spend a little more money and find something else. The walls are thin and you can hear every guest from your room. The bathrooms are gross and outdated. There was a man sleeping in his car in the parking lot of the hotel. Just rundown and you can get way better rooms somewhere else for the same price!

Be warned! This hotel has a broken fire alarm that will blare loudly at different hours during the night. Their broken fire 🔥 alarm blared for three hours on January 18, 2021 and fromt desk staff offered no reason why, to the people staying at the hotel, they could not shut off the fire alarm. The front desk staff are absolutely trash. There are much better hotels to stay at in New Orleans. This place is awful!

Those greeting guests at the front desk are unprofessional and it is evident that they don’t care about the guests or the facility itself.
Had we not been traveling with others we would have been gone after being offered our first room. It was so musty I couldn’t even get in the door. It literally knocked me back! You could probably hear the mold spores growing if you took the time. Refused that room and given another which was better, but not by much.
This property, once a Navy barracks, should be CONDEMNED! The City of New Orleans should shut this property down. After a little more than staying there about 36 hours, my wife left very sick with respiratory problems and wound up in the hospital for six days at our next destination.
I do not recommend staying here.

+1
I checked reviews before booking this hotel and it appeared to be a good option for my 4 day stay in the area. Sadly, the reviews were very misleading. This place is a dump! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. There were no curtains on the window of my first room and the closet doors were broken. I moved to a second room which wasn’t much better. The toilet didn’t flush, the sink didn’t drain, the paint was peeling in the tub, the microwave was dirty and broken etc.

Yes. By way of the ferry. Definitely a good 30+ minutes of walking though.

We've never just parked on the street. Houses are close together and parking is very limited. Don't park in the restaurant lot across the street. It will get towed. However, we have parked in the Pay lot ($10) for the day which is cheaper and easier that trying to get into one of the pay lots in the Quarter. The price to take the ferry over to Canal Street is $2.00 each way unless you are 65 and over; then it's $1.00 each way. We have taken the street car that runs down to the French Quarter Market. It's a neat place to walk through and pick up a souvenir. From there we usually walk through the Quarter to Bourbon Street back towards Canal and stop for dinner at the Acme Oyster House. The always present line moves fast and the food and cold beer are good. Nice place to meet strangers and strike up a conversation. Be sure if you take the ferry to check the time of the last one back to Algiers! Hope this helps.
Fixed rate of $16 for a taxi. We usually have four pieces of luggage and give the taxi driver $20 or a bit more if they are heavily packed. Haven't used Uber or Lyft. Usually a ten minute trip. Have a great cruise.
