Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Marriott titanium member, still waiting for check in. Doesn't matter. No early check in for Rewards members. What a joke. Hope to check in before 5pm. Spend more than 75 days a year on the road, always stay at Marriott group. We actually own a Marriott time share. Starting to rethink that.

The location was so great because you're close enough to walk to everything but far away enough that you don't have all the street noise. The staff were great, always helpful and accommodating. The only thing I wish they had was a pool, or at least some type of "sister property" deal so we could spend a day at the pool at another Marriott property. Other than that though it was a really great deal and we'd absolutely book here again!

Dear Emily C, It was a pleasure welcoming you and your friends to the Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette French Quarter Area Hotel. We loved knowing how pleased you were with our dedicated associates, classy, boutique hotel and appreciated the convenient access to downtown historic New Orleans, including Bourbon Street, Canal Street, Jackson Square, and the French Market. However, we regret not meeting some of your expectations but are happy that this did not overshadow your otherwise satisfactory stay. Thank you for the perfect rating. We look forward to having you again when your travels bring you back to New Orleans. Best regards, Rhenea Carter Director of Room Operations

Birthday weekend trip to Nola landed us at the Renaissance. An older, historic building, the hotel sits nicely in the city just a few blocks from the French Quarter and away from the hustle and bustle of Canal Street. Arriving early, we were able to check-in right away and were greeted with tremendous hospitality. The room itself was small and the chandelier wallpaper above bed was a bit weird. It had an odd configuration and the bathroom/shower was a little small but it had a modern look. It could use some updates to have modern charging outlets not just for simple plugs. We had an 18th floor room so it was quiet, away from the sound of the City. However, anytime a door slammed on our floor, our door would rattle a little bit. The bed was comfortable, but we had to turn the a/c down a bit to get the room at just the right temp. The windows are a little thin don't seem weather proof (again older building) and one of them had a few cracks in it. The bathroom was OK, the toilets don't flush properly so if you're using the bathroom make sure you double check to ensure all your waste is gone. There is no Club Lounge for Bonvoy members, just a VIP room on the first floor. It had Zapps, Ritz Crackers, some breakfast bars, water/soda and a coffee maker. Tackle Box is a nice restaurant in the lobby and they have a bar as well for late night. You can easily walk to Bourbon Street/French Quarter from hotel. Hotel to French Market/Cafe Du Monde is maybe 15 minutes. You can easily get to the Street Cars that run on Canal Street or the Green line the runs right off of Common two blocks South. Hotel doesn't have a pool, but concierge called the Renaissance in the Warehouse District and we were able to use their pool during our stay which is about a 15 minute walk (we had some time to kill before our flight last day). Service was great, but facility/building makes things a bit more difficult to say this was elegant.

A quick 5-minute walk to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. The lobby was beautiful and the staff so welcoming and friendly. I loved the doorman, who every morning greeted us with a smile and gave us daily tips on where to go and where to eat. The rooms are comfortable and the bar is great for a drink before you go out. The coffee shop makes great coffee and you can get Begneits too.

Stayed here 5 nights for a conference. I understand that this hotel is in a historic building, but I was not too impressed. Had a corner room which was quite small. Seemed like the furniture was cheap (laminate, not real wood) and the carpeting was worn and there was a tear in it, some repairs should be in order. The wallpaper chandelier on the wall over the bed seemed somewhat tacky, and the lighting could've been better. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night, although the bathroom could've been a little cleaner. However, the front desk and concierge staff were awesome, very helpful when we had a problem (not hotel related) to deal with, they definitely went above and beyond what we expected to help us out. Parking rate was outrageous, glad we didn't have a car.
