4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Room was very sparse. No chair in room besides desk chair. Also no iron or ironing board. Lobby is nice and front desk people were very welcoming. Had a bike rack right in front. Breakfast was included and was acceptable.

We got to the hotel and our room didn't have working lights but the musty odor hit us first. We then got lights and well it was sad. The upholstered furniture was NASTY. The areas where people had touched were black. The carpet was nasty. I lysoled as much as humanly possible to feel ok staying there. The front desk... More

We got a great deal using a Groupon for this hotel. It is centrally located in the Warehouse/Arts district between the Garden District and French Quarter. It is on the streetcar line which was great traveling in both directions. It is one block from the WWII museum. It had a great breakfast each morning and I liked having a frig... More

Had a nice stay at this hotel last weekend. Room was nice, very clean and very quiet. Fire alarm went off around 8 am and we were outside for a while waiting for the hotel to be cleared. Staff wasn't very friendly. Great location for a good price.

We stayed at the hotel Modern for 4 nights, and it was a great experience. Excellent location, extremely clean, very friendly and professional staff. Good quality hotel for a reasonable price. The room was beautiful, sharp and modern. Very nice clean bathroom, nice view on Lee Circle. We really loved it, and hopefully we will be able to stay there... More

I really loved the hotel. At first it was kind of a culture shock because I had not visited a hotel with such personality and charm. It grew on me quickly. We had a wonderful two-night stay. The room was quiet, had everything we needed and they even brought up an bucket of ice for us. Really enjoyed our stay.

I paid about $100 per night during my conference. Internet was fine for my general web browsing needs. My room was perfectly sized. The shower was good. They had enough toiletries and towels. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast bar had oatmeal, cereal, bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and granola bars. The staff were pleasant. It was in walking distance to... More

I had to buy an iron. They only loan out a few. Ran out of wash cloths. Front desk is not always staffed. Up-side is it's central between the Super dome & Convention Ctr & close to the Streetcar line.

Check-In and Check-out were fine. The concierge and valet staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice (Cat is an awesome lady!) I had chose this hotel because it was affordable, looked nice, and had the amenities I needed. The room was average; however, I asked for a queen size bed and either they messed up or their... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighborhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Modern New Orleans welcomes you. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with complimentary drinks in our lobby and escorted to your room just as if you were staying at a close friend’s guesthouse – there is no front desk or lengthy check in process. Our 135 comfortable rooms were designed in-house with a modern eclectic aesthetic that mirrors New Orleans’ juxtaposition of Old World charm with New World diversity. Each of our rooms feature a spacious layout to meet the needs of our busy and well-traveled guests, hand-picked modern yet comfortable furniture, and a selection from our private antique collection. The Hotel Modern goes beyond the basics to offer an array of cultural amenities, such as thoughtfully curated books in every room, a live music series with international artists in our cocktail lounge, Bellocq, and our full service restaurant, Tivoli & Lee, Chef Marcus Woodham's Southern Bistro featuring a farm-to-plate menu. The Lounge takes its name from photographer E.J. Bellocq, who secretly photographed the madams of pre-prohibition New Orleans. It features a menu of original cocktail creations from Neal Bodenheimer, Kirk Estopinal and Matthew Kohnke, the founders of Cure, the new Orleans bar named one of "The Best Bars in America" by Esquire Magazine. ... more   less
