Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Just stayed 3 nights here at the Hotel Modern, soon to be Holiday Inn Express and it was perfect for our needs. Location was great, only 10 minutes via the St. Charles streetcar to Bourbon Street and 15 mins to the Garden District. This hotel is located right on the streetcar

It appears that The Hotel Modern is becoming part of the IHG family. So far I am not impressed with the changes. It is very clean and obvious that they spent a lot of money on its appearance, but they have so many missing details that it really brings this property down. The

We were very surprised to have such an enormous room, when the main gripe about this hotel on other reviews has been how small they are. Very clean and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, which was also massive. Breakfast was more than adequate, even had a

Booked this hotel last minute and I am overall satisfied. The room is small but I have stayed at smaller ones in NYC. It is clean and everything seems new. I am happy there is a microwave oven in the room, which is typically only available in motels and suites. The hotel will

Hotel was clean and updated with well appointed rooms. Room 211 was a corner room and was very spacious for two people. Renovations are still going on, I believe they are expected to be finished in January. Free continental breakfast is provided every morning, the front desk

When I was there in September, they said the renovations were nearly complete and they would be finished mid to late October. It seemed like they only had the lobby and lower floors to complete at that time. I was on an upper floor and it was quiet but the lobby was noisy during the day.

How much is parking
We parked four blocks away, it was about $10 a day opposed to $30 at the hotel lot.

More than lobby being renovate, more like majority of building. Construction all around you inside building. Would not bet it is complete by January.

Breakfast is complementary but there is not a large choice. However, basic but good. There is shuttle bus from the airport that stops to all main hotels in N. Orleans. You will find a desk at the airport, in the bagage claim area.

"Our room was small but quiet. We had a view of Lee Circle without the statue not much to look at. A homeless man was napping in the area."
"Street car stop right across the street. Close to the French Quarter. Rooms are adequate."
"Stay in a different hotel, one with working wifi, telephones, parking, beds, and no construction."
"Check your room and don't hesitate to ask to be moved!"
"Rooms with a view of Lee Circle are a must for the "experience""
