That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

The Monrose B&B hit every note, and we thoroughly enjoyed the three days we spent in the attic room. Our room, which included a lovely, remodeled bath and sitting room, was faultlessly clean, comfortable, quiet, and attractive. During our stay, New Orleans was still in 90-degree heat, but the room was a cool oasis with its high ceilings and air conditioning. We continually congratulated ourselves that we had not spent our time in a regular hotel or among the touristy hotels of the French Quarter, but had instead chosen to experience the beauty and grace of the Monrose. Owner, Cindy, is intelligent and discreetly helpful. She’s also a fount of local knowledge, an expert on the best dining experiences, and a fantastic cook. You’ll love the breakfast provided by Cindy!

I love this B&B, it's a beautifully restored building. The location is quiet but close enough to walk to the French Quarter or Frenchman St area. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the beds are comfortable (this is my second stay) but the real gem is the host, Cindy. She knows New Orleans very well and has many ideas for things to see that only a long time local would know. Breakfast is delicious, it's a perfect way to start the day along with a little New Orleans history (if you like). There are stairs to get to most of the rooms, which could be an issue for people with mobility challenges but they're not difficult. There's wifi and work areas if you have to work. I would not want to stay anywhere else when I get the opportunity to come to NOLA.

We had such a lovely stay at Monrose Row! The entire place is beautifully decorated and cozy. The room we had was so comfortable and clean. The breakfast we had each morning was excellent, and Cindy, the host, was so kind and gave us great ideas for restaurants and must dos for our stay in New Orleans. I highly recommend staying here and hope to stay again the next time we visit New Orleans.

I am embarrassed to say I stayed a year ago actually August 2018. Myself, my daughter 17 and my son 11 stayed with Cindy and she was the best host ever. The breakfasts were amazing and she even accommodated my son (who is autistic so picky eater) and we had the best conversations with her. She has so much knowledge and history about New Orleans. Cindy’s place isn’t treated like a business it’s as if you are a guest in her home. Amazingly decorated with beautiful grounds this place is the cleanest and most immaculate bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at. Thank you Cindy for the wonderful stay and when in New Orleans my family would never stay anywhere else! Also a note the rule is no kids under 11 and I would suggest if you don’t have control over your children don’t bring

We recently stayed at Monrose Row with Cindy, and cannot say enough about Cindy's home, cooking, advice, and personality. The home is immaculate, and Cindy, having owned and run restaurants and businesses in the French Quarter for 20 plus years was a wealth of information. We were not steered wrong one time, and had a blast. Cindy is very gracious, and the kind of person one would want to invite home to Thanksgiving with the family. Her Monrose Row home has been refurbished and furnished beautifully, and her muffins are to die for! Thank you so much for making our New Orleans trip so wonderful Cindy! We will be back and with Friends.
