Inn at the Old Jail is an award-collecting modern guesthouse built into a national historic landmark in Tremé, New Orleans. The city’s most elegant Queen Anne Victorian was originally home to an NOPD police jail & patrol station, then a library and community center, then abandoned ruins of Hurricane Katrina. Originally completed in 1902 as an overnight lockup for neighborhood offenders and juvenile delinquents, our jailhouse has been impeccably restored into a boutique guesthouse with nine unique rooms and beautifully appointed common spaces.

We had an amazing stay at the Old Jail. I lived in Midcity, Gentilly, the Westbank years ago so I know the city well and friends had told me about the old jail. First, the vibe is awesome and authentic to New Orleans. The space has historic photos, grand pianos and other New Orleans eclectic pieces but is clean and uncluttered in the rooms, which I personally like. The rooftop view is great for morning coffee, and the rooms we stayed was perfect for two people and we had a bathroom. Everything felt easy staying here - it's nice to be out of the city a bit. I love the Treme area and felt very safe the entire stay. Our rooms and the front door had codes for that added layer of privacy. The owner Todd couldn't be a better host! He had plenty of suggestions for food and live music and always greeted us with a smile - can't wait to stay here on our next NOLA visit.

This is, by far, the best inn I've ever stayed with. I cannot recommend this location enough. Not only is the location itself extremely cool, the hospitality is over and beyond. The room was spacious and the beds and sheets were very comfortable. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. On the roof, there is a nice deck to hang out and enjoy a relaxing drink in the evening. You will want to spend a lot of time just wandering around the premise looking at the old architecture, photos, stories, etc. If you haven't read the story about this space on the website, I highly encourage you to. Todd himself is fantastic. He is willing to accommodate to any needs you may have without question. He will make you truly feel at home and loving your trip all the more. I honestly could go on all day about all the tiny details of how great this location is, but instead, I HIGHLY encourage you to spend your trip in New Orleans here!

Our precious family time together was elevated because of this Inn! The jail history has been preserved & is fascinating but the conversion to an Inn was done so well with all the comforts we desired. We used 5 of the 9 rooms and enjoyed the public gatherings areas- family room, deck, kitchen with other travelers. A lovely surprise happened when an incredible piano player dropped in to play for a while on 1 of the 3 pianos! Can say enough about the super manager & housekeeping staff. They were so accomodating & gave lots of suggestions to maximize our experience in NOLA which they obviously love!
I would highly recommend!!

There's an enchanting allure to The Inn at the Old Jail that transcends mere hospitality; it's a haven where every corner whispers tales of warmth and belonging. From the artfully arranged pots and pans in the kitchen to the very essence of the building's charm, you're enveloped in a sense of homecoming. Yet, it's the people who breathe life into this sanctuary, creating a community that you never knew you needed until now. Despite having visited New Orleans before, it was here that the city's true essence revealed itself – the music, the spirit, the people who embody its greatness. I can’t believe it took so long to discover this gem but I am incredibly thankful for the friends who brought me here. I am eagerly anticipating the annual pilgrimage back to its embrace. Todd and Nick, the magicians behind it all, deserve endless gratitude for curating such an amazing experience. What a weekend !!! A symphony of memories I’ll never forget. You won’t want to miss this stay on your next trip to New Orleans :)

Our first four days of our holidays with great friends started at this marvellous hotel. The owner Todd did everything in his power to make our trip special.
The work done to restore this building was unbelievable and done first rate. Our room was clean and comfortable and the common areas were outstanding. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbours were so friendly to a couple of seniors from Canada.
It is located in the Treme neighborhood and is close to everything from the French Quarter to Bourbon Street. You could walk or cab for reasonable fares. Some great restaurants around to make sure you were filled up with the local delicacies.
My wife and I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit New Orleans. Not your usual hotel but the most awesome hotel.
Todd thanks for everything and say hi to your neighbours and Milton from Shannon and Larry

Absolutely fantastic stay visiting from London, found the host, the property and the neighbourhood 10/10! Definitely coming back!
The rooftop area is very charming and given the historic importance of the building and the decor you feel engulfed in local culture from the moment you check in!

Amazing that a jail — even one that’s in the National Register of Historic Places — can be cozy and comfy and homey and charming, even with cement floors! But it’s all that, modestly priced in a quiet residential neighborhood — the Treme — not too far from anywhere you want to go but without the corporate, commercial atmosphere. Lots of local small places to grab a bowl of gumbo and not far to so many options.
The owner, Todd, is gracious and helpful and charming. Great coffee and comfortable sofas for chatting with the handful of guests. Comfy beds, nice new bathrooms. Really an ideal spot!

This is an excellent place to stay while visiting New Orleans. Our host, Todd was friendly, helpful and kind to our group of 12 family & friends. The place is unique, very well equipped, clean and very charming. I highly recommend staying here as a couple or with a group. We stayed here before embarking on a cruise of the Mississippi and it was the perfect place to begin our adventure. We walked to the French Quarter from here so it's close enough to the action but far enough away to get some rest at night. Todd was extremely accommodating and was an excellent host providing us with helpful hints and all too often...much needed directions!

Don’t be alarmed by the “Old Jail” concept, this inn is a fabulous place to stay in New Orleans for so many reasons: the unique vibe, location, amenities, comfortable accommodations, and delicious coffee. However, the most outstanding feature is the host, Todd. He was so friendly, fun to chat with, and provided the best recommendations. We can thank Todd and the Inn at the Old Jail for the reason why our time spent in New Orleans was so wonderful. We would stay again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed 4 nights at this lovingly restored boutique-like hotel in the Treme neighbourhood of New Orleans. The facility is immaculate, cozy and full of local history. Owners Liz and Raul were the most hospital people. They spent time giving us a thorough tour and background info about their building. Raul spent three years restoring this beautiful building and has obvious pride of ownership. They had lots of tips and ideas when it came to restaurants, sights to explore, etc.

We would choose this location and experience again and again!!!

Hi - we are about 1 mile from the French Quarter and half a mile from the streetcar. Our guests generally get around easily with Lyft and Uber, but also walk and use the streetcar.
