Le Méridien New Orleans garners praise for its welcoming atmosphere and modern amenities that contribute to the hotel's cool vibe. Guests appreciate the prime location for exploring the city, though the high costs associated with dining, parking, and occasional billing discrepancies are noted. While the rooms and hotel's cleanliness receive commendations, some visitors have encountered housekeeping service lapses and towel shortages. The hotel's amenities like the pool and fitness area are popular, despite occasional maintenance and room service concerns. Service is generally highlighted for its friendliness, though efficiency at times falls short.

This was my second time staying in New Orleans and by a long shot my preferred hotel accommodations. I came out to celebrate my mothers birthday and wanted to be close to all of the action, without being TOO close to all of the action. This hotel is a ~5 minute walk from the French quarter/bourbon street. Across the street from a large casino. Down the block from the Mississippi river and a few blocks from a mall. Yet when you're in the outdoors courtyard or looking from your hotel room window, there's not much foot traffic/crazy going on.

The rooms were Clean and spacious enough (stayed in Classic Room, 1 King Bed, Non Smoking, View). Bonus there's a fridge beyond the mini bar for food you're going to be taking back to the room, and in the lobby there's a clean microwave that's accessible to the public. The staff was particularly welcoming and nice.

While I'd usually do all of my drinking in one of the many bars/restaurants nearby I found myself frequenting the hotel lobby bar. Where I received superb libations (Bloody Mary was incredible, as were a few drinks on the menu the names of which I now forget), and incredible service from the bartenders Mayra, Ji, Erika.

I recently stayed at Le Meridien during Christmas holiday for five days.

My stay was good. Front desk staff were very pleasant. They greeted me every time i came in or left the hotel.

Enjoyed hotel and suite i was upgraded to.

My gripe and concern were having three different members of staff at different time open the door to my room without knocking and have one argue with me after i called her out for opening my door without knocking.

This definitely concerned me and questioned my safety because i recently had similar happen to me over Thanksgiving holiday at a Marriott property where the guest in the adjoining room was able to and did open the inside door to my room.

So to have several different staff just open my door alarmed me in such a way that gave concern and also angered me.

I let the front desk know about this and she basically made assumptions and excuses for the employees and as to why ot may have happened.

I received a welcome email shortly after these events happened and i was able to let him know what happened

Overall my stay was good except for the no knock incidents.

Please have your employees knock hard before entering any guest rooms

Great hotel! Very accommodating with all our requests - we were able to change from a double bed room to a king size bedroom as well as a great convenient location to all of New Orleans. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at le meridien again.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the view and location. As of March 20th, there is a lot of loud construction going on in the hotel and across the street at Harrahs. Check in was easy. When I entered the bedroom, I noticed a curtain was missing. I like a dark room to sleep in. I immediately went downstairs and told the front desk. They told me they would be right on it. After returning from getting groceries it was not fixed. I went downstairs again to find out why the curtain still was fixed (The phone in my room never worked). They told me someone already went to fix it which was inaccurate. Eventually after hours after the initial request they nailed in a new piece of curtain (they normally go on guide rails). The One day I got back to my room and housekeeping had come and left my room door open (the door was cracked and any one could have come in to steel my belongings). The bathroom had a lot of rust on the bottom metal of the shower (They said my room was just renovated). Since I am Elite member I am eligible for a complementary breakfast. The 1st day I got a box of fresh pastries with a small amount of fruit and yogurt. The 3rd day they decided to no longer allow from ordering breakfast and only had a breakfast buffet which was not provided complementary to elite members. I spent over 100 nights and $20k at Marriott properties last year. I was told that I was only able to get a pastry and coffee every day. 3 days I was able to convince the from desk to give me vouchers for the breakfast buffet unknowingly they would put $32 for each on my bill when leaving. I had to call the hotel and they had to do an investigation to prove I didn’t make the charges. The morning bar staff is rude half the time and upset that they don’t make much money. One morning after getting off elevator I proceeded to the buffet and the bar staff yelled at me to get a card from the front desk. I told them I was just looking to see what was being served. She snapped at me “It is the same thing as yesterday.” Another guest just wanted a cup of coffee which most hotels provide for free. The bar staff said they had to charge him over $4 unless he went to the front desk and got a voucher. The bar staff said “They can’t stand entitled people” after he left. The gentleman at the front desk said he would send me 10,000 marriott points for my trouble with breakfast which never happened. They seem to want to be entitled to tips for being rude and unfriendly. If you like a rusty bathroom, false charges on your bill, mostly unfriendly rude staff (a few great staff), and construction noise this is the hotel for you. I almost didn’t stay here because of the 3.4 stars on Marrott.com but now I know why.

I never write reviews but this behavior was so egregious it can’t go undocumented. Saturday, May 4th we called down for room service at 10:25 & were told it’s too late to order because room service ends at 10:30am but we could order at the bar. We went down thinking we’d get some coffee and get on with the day but were told by the woman behind the bar we couldn’t order anything until 11am. I was surprised & trying to get more info when my husband said don’t bother, you can tell she doesn’t care. And then she started SHOUTING at my husband, “Well, I mean I don’t! And why should I care, the rules are the rules and there’s nothing I can do to change them and why are you talking to me like that anyway!” And she carried on and on for about 90 seconds. She had a tantrum right there in the lobby behind the bar. Someone, perhaps a manager, tried to get her under control and she completely ignored him continuing to shout until she was done. He apologized for her and directed us to the Doubletree for coffee since there was no way to get a cup in the hotel at 10:30 on a Saturday morning.

We had good experiences with housekeeping and staff that checked minibar but front desk staff was unhelpful and lacked a customer service vision. They seem inexperienced and under-trained or at the very least under-supervised. It was clear they’d all rather be on their phones. No one asked if this was our first visit or let us know how Wi-Fi worked or when breakfast was available. They didn’t care. I’m a Bonvoy Gold member & this experience has me reinvigorating my Hilton Honors account.

Location is convenient but Loews, Windsor Court, Fontenot & Double Tree are all right there as well..

Our stay was very rough. When we arrived, at 6pm, we were told our room was not ready. The person helping us did not have an eta but worked to find a room. Finally it was ready. We were put in an ADA room, which was fine, but the room was very old and had a lot of issues. A replacement thermostat was stuck on top of the old one. The remote box for the drapes did not work so we could not open our drapes. The mini-fridge did not work well and food was not kept cold. The shower had no way to keep water from flooding out of that area. The entire bathroom floor flooded while my daughter took a shower. We called for maintenance and they had to wet-vac our bathroom. The maintenance person brought us a ton of towels just in case it happens again. I assumed it would happen again, I laid down a wall of towels to keep the water in the shower area. The toilet did not flush all of the time.
The room service menu had the wrong times for room service which was frustrating because we were in town for a tournament that started early. We had no other way to get food. The menu said room service at 6am but front desk said it starts at 6:30am. I informed them of the times the menu in the room stated. The response was, "I don't know why it says that."
We valet parked our vehicle and when I tried to text for my car to be brought to the valet area, the system said it did not have our ticket on record. Luckily, our car was parked on location.
I called for help with my luggage, the morning I checked out, and requested a luggage cart. After 25 minutes, I had to start heading out to leave, so I had to take everything myself without a cart.
I am not one to leave bad reviews but this stay was one the worst stays I have ever had a hotel. We would not stay in this hotel again.

Stayed at the hotel at the end of February for a conference. From a conference facility standpoint the hotel is a very nice place to conduct business. The staff are attentive, and hospitable. The ballroom on the Esplanade level is very nice and convenient. I enjoyed it very much. Where the hotel misses a step is in the guest rooms. The walls seem to be paper thin because I heard everything that the guests in the adjacent room were saying and doing. The refreshments placed in the room are placed in a tray with sensors so once one is picked up you’re charged. I do give the hotel credit because they do disclose this on the front of the tray holding the snacks but was still a little taken aback to see it displayed. I don’t believe there’s room service. Not sure why as they have a very nice restaurant on premises. The room itself was clean but small. I did like the layout but it was so small it reminded me of the small hotel rooms in New York City. One hotel in particular, Club Quarters. Awful hotels. The bathroom of my room at Le Meridien was ok. Again very small. I took three showers and each time the water was tepid. Barely lukewarm. Mold around the grout at the bottom of the shower stall. Would I stay again? Probably not. Am I glad I had a chance to see it? Yes. So surprising that the property was not higher quality especially since it’s affiliated with Marriott.

This hotel had excellent service from the time we checked in until the time we left. Tawanna who is the night manager was so friendly and helpful when checking us in. She made sure we were satisfied with our room choice and let us know she was happy to help with restaurant recommendations or anything else we needed. We were staying for 3 nights so we frequented the bar/restaurant in the hotel and the bartenders Shane and Ji were both so so sweet and made excellent drinks.

The hotel itself is also really cute and is in a good location. We walked to almost everything while we stayed here (bourbon st, the river walk, restaurants, smoothie king center etc). The rooms were nice and clean and I didn’t hear any noise from neighboring rooms. We also had a corner king room and there was a great view!

Literally no complaints about this stay, we will definitely be staying here again since New Orleans is one of our favorite cities to visit.

I've stayed at this property twice before. Once as a W and the second time as the Hotel New Orleans Downtown. Both stays were enjoyable. I have a stay next week where I booked a "Luxury Suite", and this is what's outlined on my printed reservation from the day I booked. I now notice on the Bonvoy App that the room type states "Urban Executive Suite", which is a 1 category downgrade. I did call into the Le Meridien New Orleans and spoke to a representative who seemed confused. She was to put me on hold while she spoke to a supervisor, but forgot to put me on hold and I overheard half the conversation before the hold kicked in. When she came back on the line, I was told that the Luxury Suite I booked was an ADA room, so they changed the room. An ADA room is stated nowhere on my original reservation and how do they know I didn't need an ADA room (which I don't)? She then proceeded to tell me that the Urban Executive Suite is a very nice room with a River view, which I'm sure it is. The point is that I'm not getting the room type I booked/paying for and that's outlined on my original reservation. If I wasn't traveling with friends staying at this hotel, I'd look elsewhere as this feels like a bait and switch.

Answer from Tawanna H
Both are! The Urban Suite has two separate sides (bedroom and the living room is separated by a hall) and the Luxury and Executive Suites bedroom is separated by a door from the living area.
