First of all when visiting New Orleans I wanted to make sure I had enough extra money to do all of the exciting things there are. That meant trying to save on hotel and parking and the empress did just that. I was able to stay here and save money as that they did offer the best deal in town...

We were sailing out of New Orleans and looking for a reasonable accommodations, as the city was completely booked. My friend booked this place as a "back up" but this became primary. I travel quite a bit for both personal and pleasure and I have NEVER stayed in such a horrible hotel! I'll just make a list: The Good: -hotel...

I went during peak season - Halloween, Voodoo festival . At the time of booking I wasn't really aware of either festivities and didn't know that was the reason most hotels were 250+ per night !! Wouldn't recommend walking to and from after dark. It cost about $5 USD to get an uber into town so I didn't mind that....

This is not a family friendly hotel, so don't bring children to stay here. The hotel is falling apart. When Hotel Impossible was here, they must have only remodeled a couple of rooms and mine wasn't one of them. The neighborhood is a little sketchy too. That being said, my bed had clean sheets and it was comfortable. My friend...

It is not fair that I have to give this place even a 1 star rating. They deserve a straight 0. It is hardly even a "hotel" Words cannot describe how terrible this place is. I did not imagine in my entire life that I would come across a hotel so atrocious. I will say, the location is decent near...

Nobody vacationer should ever, ever stay here. Maybe if you only stumble back from Bourbon St to pass out for a few hours before doing it again, but - if you're like us - just regular people experiencing New Orleans and expecting a decent inexpensive room, forget it. We Wondered about the plastic that was supposed to be covering the...

I'm speechless it is so disgusting and owner is delusional. Should be condemned. Filthy, not safe. How is this still standing? Kind of people staying here are somewhat dodgy. Appalling. Shockingly awful.

Staying in Treme

Neighborhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“Just never stay here; there ARE no good rooms.”
  • Where the bed bugs live. Horrible, horrible.
  • This speaks for itself. Disgusting.
  • The TV was so tiny, you couldn't see it from the bed, which was the only place to be.
  • No surfaces to put anything on except the chair.
  • Not one shelf to put anything on. No hooks to hang anything up.
