First off, If you are looking for a 5 star sterile hotel experience, keep moving. However, if you want to experience New Orleans through it's history, vibrant culture and unmatched southern hospitality look no further. My husband and I stayed a week here for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. Our room was comfortable and the furnishings perfectly matched... More

....and we wouldn't want it to be! My girlfriend and I got tickets to Voodoofest and I was looking online for places to stay. Rathbone Mansions came up on the search but it said there was only one room left. I looked at several other places but this place kept popping up so I decided to look into it. The... More

We enjoyed our stay so much. The rooms make you feel like you are in another century and for me was great for New Orleans experience. We didn't get to try the breakfast but the location was amazing close to everything. The shower is really small but that's the only complaint.

This was our second stay but our friends from Canada's first. The staff was very accommodating- giving us rooms on the same floor. Parking was great and secure. While we loved roaming the streets, it was great to walk back to the hotel at night and rest in the clean pool. All the other visitors were friendly and we would... More

I wish that the owners of these old mansions still cared about their upkeep, but they truly don't. I was really excited about staying in a beautiful old mansion, so I expected some things like paint in need of a refresher or out-of-date curtains, so don't take me as a whiner. What I got was NOT a few things in... More

I am not a generic hotel kind of person even when my company is paying for it and even if it is one of those fancy ones on Canal Street. I like character, charm and history in a hotel as well as a neighborhood and I got it all at Rathbone Mansion. Even though it was just me, I found... More

This was our first time staying at a B&B. It was a great experience. The employees were very friendly. The location is convenient walking distance to both the French Quarter and Frenchman Street in the Marigny. We had the Mardis Gras suite. It was huge. Could easily sleep 8. Had two big beds in one room and a king in... More

We were excited about the history of the property. Photos are dated. Our first room was decent but the cable didn't work. Relocated to another room but the ac hadn't been turned on so the room was hot and took time to cool down. Definitely a bed and breakfast. Basic no frills. Office staff friendly, maintenence staff not so good.... More

We where three people staying for two nights. The staff were very friendly, but I've got to say the room didn't live up at all to the $230/night that we payed. Bathroom was dirty and the AC sounded like a truck. Breakfast was just barely decent. Would not recommend.

When I arrived I was quite surprised that the looks of the place did not resemble the photos on the website. Turns out there are multiple mansions and the photos, per Pat, the owner, are 7 years old so keep in mind the place has aged since then and the photos do not accurately represent the current state. On the... More

Staying in Treme

Neighborhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
