Last weekend, I attended a special three-day Marriott Bonvoy/Chase event at the New Orleans Ritz Carlton. Having read the recent bad reviews of this Ritz Carlton, I was a bit apprehensive. However, the check-in and room upgrade (I am Titanium Elite) went smoothly. The Event was flawlessly, though most activities and dining occurred outside the hotel. The one meal held in this hotel was a Saturday lunch, where the food was mediocre (which is damning in New Orleans). On Sunday, I went to the Front Desk at 10:00 a.m. and asked for my car to be brought up and a bellman for assistance with luggage in my room. I returned again at 10:30 to repeat this request. The bellman arrived in my room at 10:50 a.m. He left our bags on a cart next to my unlocked car and disappeared. I loaded the bags into my car and asked the supervisor for my car key. There were parked cars everywhere in the entrance and one poor driver was forced to back into Canal Street, where someone stopped traffic so I could exit. This entire check-out experience was a disaster. Clearly, the Ritz is understaffed and those working there need more training. It is hard not to compare my experience there with the New Orleans Marriott that's two blocks away. That Marriott is a well-oiled machine, with excellent parking attendants, bellman, Front Desk staff, and great food in their "M" Club!

I was worried going back after Covid restrictions but I was not disappointed. I had a small hiccup with room choice but the staff took care of it and I was definitely happy. The suites are spacious and smartly appointed. The standard rooms are very nice too. There are many different room types from classic and historic to more modern so discuss with them to make your choices (and possible upgrade costs). The prices have gone up a bit but the hotel is still amazing. Service is still amazing. The club is as good as ever and with Barry and Sunday still working here how could you go wrong? They are just the best. It felt like seeing family. This is an experience where the people enhance the experience. Honestly this is the kind of hotel now that you don't want to give too much away. Stay here and explore. The only downside is that there is limited outdoor space but you really don't even notice it. Fresh flowers, amazing service, classic attentive staff. Still at the top of all hotels I've visited.

What a phenomenal property. The staff were extremely engaging and supportive of all our needs, and the room and amenities at the hotel were better than expected. The area around the hotel was cause for concern with regard to "feeling safe", but that is unavoidable for any hotel in that area, not specific to the Ritz. The property smelled incredible and the ambiance while you walk through, in any wing or floor, was extremely pleasing. Highly recommended.

I’m so sad!!! We have loved this property for years and I have always looked forward to this property when we are in New Orleans. We were just in town for one night. I got a note from the property asking if we were celebrating anything special, etc….my husband (lifetime titanium) wrote a very nice and lengthy note sharing that we were celebrating something special and so, hopefully with his status, we could get a nice room, etc…no response to the note. So, also very disappointing when we arrived, no mention of either of our statuses, no upgrade, no mention of what we’d mentioned in the email. So, feel free to ignore the email they send you and don’t waste time writing because no one will read it or do anything with it. When we said all this, they upgraded us…kind of and weren’t very nice about it. The most shocking thing was the concierge this time. The last few times I’d been there, they were beyond helpful. We had been traveling all day and just wanted a casual place to eat with good food. When my husband asked about a place we had found and if we should call, the concierge said “probably…there are a lot of people in town”. Then we had to ask him to call for us….as if this was not the key part of his job??? I finally said that we would just walk around and find something. He said “I’m trying to find something for you” with a ton of attitude. So, we just couldn’t get away from him fast enough and wandered around on our own and found something. We’ll try a different property next time.

I didn’t wanna write those long posts for this one! But somehow got carried away :) We stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful hotel to celebrate my friends birthday! But! As we checked in, front desk woman was very unprofessional, because she just said hi and nothing else! I was a Marriott gold member back then and she did not even mention that , it was a complete silence for like 7-10 mins while we were getting checked in , come on guys, this is supposed to be a 5 stars hotel Ritz Carlton but I felt like I was getting checked in at 2stars holiday inn or something like that or hostel! On the other hand, Concierge guy was amazing! Bartender is great too, you should try dirty martini with 3 olives my favorite :) Room was pretty but very small! As for the restaurant, everything was good except one horrible thing was our waitress don’t remember her name I think Trish or something like that come close to my friend’s face on his birthday and said that “she will be happy not to help us”! Excuse me ? Is this really Ritz Carlton? Or motel Carlton? Very unprofessional! Overall, beautiful hotel but it needs big amount of work with its staff! I did not feel like I was at the 5 stars hotel, I definetily experienced only 2 stars service! Very disappointing! Should have stayed at the Waldorf across the street!

I stayed the nights of April 22 & 23, 2022. It was fabulous. The rooms, the people, and the food were beyond expectation. Especially the breakfast buffet. Wow! A special thank you to Mr. Kevin Hicks in Loss Prevention. I always travel with my own pillow. Nothing expensive, but it always gives me a good night's sleep. When I got home, I realized that I had forgotten it on the bed. I called the hotel and spoke with Mr. Hicks and he promised to do all he could. He understood how valuable the pillow was to me. And sure enough, a few days later I received my pillow by Federal Express.

Unfortunatly the Ritz Carlton New Orleans is NOT a luxury hotel, even though the prices will tell a different story. It is in a wonderful location and is very clean but this is about all the good things I have to say about the Ritz. Went here for our wedding and from the start I could tell this hotel was not on par with the other Ritz Carltons I have stayed at. No door man, no one to help you with your bags, and no ramps to carry your bags up the stairs. Reception is some ways away from any of the front doors and you will be lugging your bags this distance. This is fine unless you have more than few bags to manage. Description of the room we purchased stated a courtyard view but all you look at is the dirty roof of the courtyard. You will pay extra for this view. Staff was very friendly but unknowledgeable about the property or how to get around the property. The building is in a old department store. There are numerous elevators and all of them lead to different locations of the hotel. The issue is there is no signage and the staff even got lost trying to navigate us to our room on many occasion's. We had dinner in one of the fancy booths at the hotel restaurant and our waiter forgot about us, they were not busy. It took one hour to get appetizers and drinks. The manager did come out to apologize and gave us free deserts which was very nice but the damage was already done, since this was our wedding night dinner. We had two separate friends try and send us flowers, champagne and a gift basket but the hotel was not helpful in with this. My sister called twice and emailed 4 times and never received a call back. Our last experience came when checking out. We called an hour ahead to have our luggage brought down when we were leaving. We gave it an hour because everything else had been lacking that we thought we would give them a heads up. We called twice when no one showed up and the front desk told us that they had contacted the bell hop but did not know where he was at. We ended up making two trips to bring our luggage down on our own. We our a younger couple, so the extra work was probably good for us but we paid for a luxury hotel experience not a gym membership. In all the experience would have been fine and expected somewhat from a standard hotel with standard prices. But this is the Ritz Carlton & you are paying for luxury not a Red Roof Inn stay. If your in need of exercise a sore back and a dent in your wallet, the Ritz is the place for you to stay. Other wise save your money and exercise for enjoying and experiencing what New Orleans has to offer. Its a wonderful city and we will be back to visit just not at the Ritz Carlton.

I have stayed in Ritz Carlton hotels before though they are not my first preference. They are part of the AMEX platinum "Fine Hotels" network so perhaps I expected too much. There were moments of wonderful service, and as I was there for a conference, I can attest to the conference facilities being top notch (though cold!). Our room was OK. It looked like it had been cleaned very quickly however as I found old Fritos under the edge of the bed (being down on the ground playing with the baby). Though I am an upper tier Convoy member through my Platinum card, no benefits were offered. We were on the ground floor which is loud and cold and each day there were trays from room service lining the hallway until late evening. Their bar area right off the restaurant was very nice, with good drinks and live music. So far not too bad. But the food was terrible. We made reservations at their restaurant for the second night of our stay. My wife ordered shrimp and grits, which she thought was a good choice for New Orleans as she has never been before. I am not sure whether I have ever seen shrimp and grits served with the shrimp heads intact in my 55 years before. As I pulled off the head I noted the shrimp to be gray and then the odor hit me. I immediately sent it back and my wife was done for the evening. We ordered pizza. The manager apologized but....the next morning as I went to conference my wife ordered a frittata (sp) from room service. That went back also as the outside was crisp while the inside was liquid egg. We didn't eat any other meals at the Ritz after that. I am giving three stars for location, the bar, and an absolutely fabulous front doorman. I think thats generous under the circumstances

We have stayed at Ritz Carlton Hotels all over the world and this one is one of our favorites. My wife and I first stayed here 16 years ago as our first stay at the Ritz. I was by far the best experience we ever had. We just stayed for spring break and still just as amazing. We stayed on the club level which is a whole separate building which is pretty cool. Service on the club level as usual was impeccable. I believe Ryan helped us a few times an was super friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic. The room service was quick and very good. Our only complaint would be the menu is a little limited. Great location right on canal street. Easy walk the all the great shops and restaurants in the French Quarter. Definitely a place to come back to. My wife and I will be returning for our 20th wedding anniversary this December
