When you can walk a block to the French Market, you can overlook the outdated furniture, carpet and fixtures. I bought the timeshare on an impulse and still can't decide if I'm pleased. If you are looking for pristine, modern accommodations, you will be disappointed. If you want to step back into the 70's this could be your place.

We've been staying here for 8+ years! It's just like the description, 19th century provincial so should be no surprises. The location is superb, the staff are inviting and very informative, and the units are clean. We've stayed at many hotels in the FQ over the years and while most of the decor is similar, in our mind, the customer...

Rooms are so small and outdated. They snell old and musty with poor natural lighting. It says it's a 4 star hotel however it's a 1 star service. We unloaded and carried our own bags with young kids in tow. Absolutely horrible place. The only benefit they have is that they are close to the French Quarter.

If you want to spend time in the French Quarter and up Frenchmen Street, you couldn't ask for a better location. Though quaint, the property is not bearing its age well. Furnishings are aged and uncomfortable. Pillows are hard to sleep on. Parking, though free, is terrible. It's location that saves this place.

Yes its tired, but quaint and well in keeping with the French Quarter which is the next street over. Our main concern was with we were on the second floor, with a comunnal balcony. The bedroom opened out onto this balcony and the doors did not lock. We had to secure the door with our suitcase locks. Being on the...

Monnaie is a tired hotel in a great part of the quarter near Frenchmen Street and convenient to the French Market and many restaurants, shopping and bars. The hotel has odd sized rooms with tired furnishings and awful pictures. We enjoy coming because of the price and the fact that there is garage parking which is first come, first served.

Location is what keeps me coming back to this hotel,, Right in the back of the french market.. Older hotel ,could definitely use updating in the rooms but you don't stay in room anyway! 5 min walk to Frenchman Street is always great too.

This place is like being in a vacation apartment. Great location, great staff. We feel so comfortable here and return every time in New Orleans. Walking distance to most attractions, yet quiet too. Street car across the street for further trips. Free parking is an added bonus. Love this place

The hotel is.located 1 block from the French Market. Location and proximity to The French Quarter is very good. Be aware checkout time is 10:30 am and they are not flexible. The.biggest issue they do.not inform you of this during check in. The cleaning person stood outside of.our door waiting and when my qife told.her.it would take us Nither 5...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
