Pretty Baby was filmed here and you have a waft of the past spilling over you as you check in, or is that merely a ghost slipping by! It’s a lovely place for a late night drink out on the veranda and breakfast is good. Weddings lift the environment to the next nirvana, just enjoy the drink at the bar or in the gallery while listening to jazz now you here. We love this part of town and visit whenever we can💘

Great balcony (in good weather) to celebrate Happy Hour on St. Charles Ave to sit and people watch. If you can't get a table, inside bar is nice too. Great prices on drinks. Did not stay here or eat anything.

While this property has oodles of charm potential, it is in desperate need of a good deep clean and repair. We stayed in room 22: the doorknob came off several times enabling the room to swing wide open unless locked by an above key. The dust under the beds and dressers (we dropped an item that rolled) was unbelievably gross. There were almost a dozen dirty tissues under the bed and dressers. Not sure when the last time the bedspread was cleaned (didn't smell too clean) and when I asked the front desk for a clean blanket (so I could remove the thin bedspread), I was told I had to wait until the morning. The wallpaper in the room (and elsewhere through the house) was ripped and peeling off. After staying in some equally as old B & B's, there can be much done to improve the appearance. Breakfast was included- but no fruit as advertised and the portions were rather small. Plus, they need to have city maps onsite for those of us visitors... The location was superb as was the outside service from Lauren.

Location, charm and bar/porch area were great but think twice before you spend the night. Our room (#16) was at the top of the stairs (from the lounge area) where the party lasted until past 2 am each night, so the noise level made it feel like you were trying to sleep in a bar. Management didn't appear to be surprised when we chatted about this and he made no effort to alleviate our disappointment. I would return for a drink, but probably not to stay the night on our next trip. Value appeared to be in the happy hour cocktails, but not the room rental.

Four women walking and exploring St. Charles Avenue - rain clouds forming - Columns Hotel is nearby with a good reputation for cocktails. So we stopped at 2:30 in the afternoon, and sat in the Tea Room to have tea and talk and pass the time - delightful historic house and vintage rooms with a cheery waitress - it was the perfect place for us at that moment. We passed many people on the veranda enjoying their cocktails as the light rain came and left.
