The Blake Hotel New Orleans, BW Signature Collection, garners appreciation for its aesthetically pleasing ambiance and prime location, which guests love for its proximity to New Orleans' attractions. The hotel's service receives accolades for the staff's friendliness and helpfulness, though it's not without its occasional criticisms.
While some travelers find value in the hotel's reasonable prices, others are put off by the additional costs and the property's dated aspect. Room conditions are a concern, with reports of them being small and in need of refurbishment, yet the overall cleanliness meets many guests' standards.

Located literally perfectly from all the “must-do’s” New Orleans has to offer, it is also staffed and operated as smoothly and efficiently as any 5 star hotel the city has to offer at a fraction of the cost. The front desk staff (Ryan, Zenna, Charlise, Jaselin Jessica and Jeronica,) are pleasant and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is a memorable one. The housekeeping staff (Tamika, Lorraine, Elaine, Jemare) are professional and helpful with any and all requests a guest may have. The fluid and professional environment is surely the result of a most effective and attentive management team (Chaz, Carlos, Ryan, Precious) who see to it that each and every guest is treated like a 5 star customer. All said and done The Blake Hotel is a top notch, professional, efficient, and comfortable gem among a large playing field. They have certainly earned my recommendation and I hope you will choose The Blake for your business or pleasure travels.

We stayed here for 3 nights the last weekend of January. Everyone at the front desk was very nice & polite. Check in/out was very easy but I was very disappointed in the parking situation. If you didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount per night to park with their valet service on top of paying for your room then you had to find a parking garage near by. Luckily I found one 0.5 miles away that was about $12 a day. The room was a little smaller than I expected it to be for the price. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean, but the bathroom could have been cleaned a lot better. The bathroom and/or room needed a ventilation system along with the entire hotel. I realize it was Jan. & cold so the hotel had the heater on, but when you got off the elevator the hall was hot & humid. Our room stayed so hot & muggy that we had to keep the thermostat on 60 just to be comfortable & to keep the fan going to circulate the air. The cafe attached to the hotel had good food & service. They biscuits & gravy were delicious & you got a very large portion. The hotel is in a good location. We were able to walk to the French Quarter & the Smoothie King Center with no issues. If you are unable to walk for long periods of time I recommend taking the street car & fortunately there is one that stops on the corner by the hotel. The next time I have to stay over night in New Orleans I will be staying at a different hotel or Airbnb because the hot & muggy room was so uncomfortable.

Dear RuthsQ1767TN, Thank you for the review. We are very glad to see that you had great interactions with our staff during your stay. That being said, we are sorry to see that you were disappointed in the parking situation. We are very fortunate to have a great third party management parking staff that keeps your vehicle safe and secure during your stay. We are also very sorry to see that the ventilation was not working properly while you were staying at the Blake. We hope you can give us another chance in the future, as we will make it right. Thank you for staying with us, and have a great day. Best, Ryan McGuire - Assistant General Manager

We had an opportunity to stay at the Blake Hotel for one night in early December to attend the 2022 Children’s Hospital Christmas parade.
I am a local so for years I have tried to find the ideal location to participate in the Mardi Gras festivities in comfort. The Blake Hotel is one of the best ways to participate in Mardi Gras. They offer Mardi stand tickets which are wonderful for viewing the parade. Stand tickets can be as low as $25.00 and as expensive as $145.00 depending on the popularity of the parade. I would definitely think about staying as a guest at the hotel and purchasing stand tickets because you will have access to your room during the parades which make for a very comfortable stay. You can also purchase balcony access passes as well. The balcony tickets are more expensive however, food, open premium bar, and restrooms will be provided on Saturday, February 18th, Sunday, February 19th, and Tuesday, February 21 so I would highly suggest this option if you want to enjoy Mardi Gras, love food and drinks and also value your comfort.
Our stay for the Christmas parade was exceptional! We arrived early however, it was very early so we simply waited in the lobby until the front desk clerk sent a text to let me know I could check into the hotel room. I appreciated the friendly service and the early check in. We were able to enjoy the parade, music in Lafayette Square after the parade, ride on the Bike Taxi, walk to lunch and return to the comfort of our hotel room. I definitely enjoyed my night. The staff was extremely polite upon checkout and I had to let them know how much I enjoyed my stay as a local. If you are in search of having a fabulous time during Mardi Gras don’t hesitate about staying at the Blake Hotel. It makes for one of the best ways to enjoy Mardi Gras. The parades pass directly in front of the hotel, the location is close to the French Quarter, and there are numerous restaurants in the vicinity. As they say in New Orleans….”Laissez les bon temps rouler” or simply said “Let the Good Times Roll for Mardi Gras 2023!” Thanks for another wonderful stay!

Stayed 2 nights during Mardi Gras. Room was supposed to be a "view" of Lafayette square. Our window was covered with some sort of tint that you could not see through. Room was very small and had a small bathroom with 1 sink and regulation size tub. Room wreaked of smoke, even though we were supposed to have a non-smoking room. Don't know if this was from someone smoking in it, poor ventilation or both. All I know is, my throat was itchy while I was in the room and when I left, it wasn't. The phone cord did not stay into the receiver on the phone; you had to hold it in to make phone calls..which we had to do to find out where the ice maker was...turns out it's only on odd numbered floors. Weird. Housekeeping was loud in the hallways on their personal conversations on cell phone. We did not alert management to the problems as we were pretty certain during mardi gras the rooms would be full or pickings would be slim. The towels and sheets seemed to be clean enough, but you could just tell the rooms are in dire need of deep clean and updating.
Garage parking seemed safe enough. However, because of the parades, valet service was blocked off so we had to haul our luggage down from the garage, wheel it outdoors to the hotel entrance, as it cannot be accessed from within the building that houses the garage...even though they are technically in the same building/block. This was an inconvenience. Keep this in mind if you are visiting during mardi gras at any hotel along parade routes.
The biggest benefit to staying at this hotel is the location, during mardi gras. It was convenient for the stands we had tickets to for the hotel, even though one of the nights we stayed the parades were canceled and we were not refunded for the stands tickets (not the hotel's fault-but head's up to anyone considering doing the stands). However, I will not be staying at this hotel again. There are far too many options along the parade route for hotels and stands and next year we will definitely try a different place. For what we paid, it just wasn't worth the problems with the room.

Dear Suezbelle, Thank you for the review. We are very sorry to see that your stay did not work out as well as you hoped. Please accept our sincerest apologies about the room smell, as we are a 100% smoke free hotel. Regarding the parking, we were very fortunate to be right on the Mardi Gras parade routes, and also fortunate to have an alternate parking garage right next to the building. Generally, we do have valet parking that keeps your vehicle safe and secure for $39.90 per night plus tax. Please do not hesitate to contact the hotel directly and speak with our management team, as we would like to hear more about your stay. Thank you for staying with us, and have a great day. Sincerely, Ryan McGuire - Assistant General Manager

The level of filthiness of this place is disturbing! In my almost 40 years I never seen a hotel this dirty and neglected.
Old, stinky, FILTHY. It states “ recently remodel hotel”. The only thing that is remodeled is the first floor lobby area. The carpet that smells like sweat and pee have not been washed in years. Mold in the bathroom, old ceiling leak that no one cares to fix. The list goes on.
We checked in late on Thursday night. After switching to 3d room I gave up. It was non-refundable stay , therefore, I could not get any of my money back and my budget did not allow just to forget $510 that we paid for 3 nights. On Friday we went to CVS and bought cleaning supplies to clean the room. Even after that a feeling that something keeps on crawling over me did not leave me at night.
Not a single time we saw a cleaning crew! We stayed 3 nights. I had to hunt for coffee and shampoo refills at the front desk. An average gas station has cleaner facilities.
Not even mentioning that its still Covid time. Not a single time There were someone disinfecting doors and handles like Marriott or other hotels do. The staff is more interested in watching TV in the back room then doing what they are supposed to do.
Just disgusting !

I'm so sorry to hear about your negative experience. I would love to hear from you directly, as I'm unsure if your stay was at our property. While we have enjoyed several refreshes in the last few years, we do not have any websites advertising a recent remodel. We aim to provide consistently excellent service, and while mistakes and errors can occur, our team is ready to make it right at any time... if a room was reported to be below our standard, we would offer to immediately service the room, and if that was not sufficient or possible at that time, we would be happy to help with alternate accommodations, a refund, or a credit. All amenities are available delivery, or from our fully stocked front desk at any time, and our team is always up front, with no back room or any TV in any employee area. If your stay was indeed at the Blake Hotel on St. Charles Ave in New Orleans, please contact me at the hotel so that I can learn more and address any issues you encountered during your stay.

If there was an extremely poor option, this hotel would get it. I just checked out today and it was a horrible experience. There were several issues and all of them were brought to management and I was told this is the way things are right now! And I'm not lying, I took pictures to prove it!
1. I arrived to my room and I noticed that my sheets had some spots on it. So I wanted to call the front desk, but my phone had no cords. I literally just had a phone with no physical line connections.
2. I then stepped into the bathroom as I continued to inspect the room and saw mildew spots on the ceiling over the tub area.
3. I begin to unpack my baby's medication that needs to be kept cool and I noticed the fridge. I had an ounce of excitement until I realized by the end of the night that the fridge does not get cold. Even after attempting to set it to the max temperature. I expressed to management the need for my fridge to be cool and it was explained to me that our fridges don't get cold.
3. I tried my best to get through the first night and predicted that my next two nights will be a little better because housekeeping will come and refresh my room. Sorry I thought that would happen. Housekeeping did not come to my room at all!!!!! Not one time during my stay. ( I was here for 3 nights) Housekeeping did not even come to the floor to pick up the trash or dirty towels from other guests. How sanitary is that during Covid????? When I addressed staff about this concern I was told that employees were told to leave the hallways in that manner with no explanation. Without housekeeping I was without, fresh linen, fresh towels, fresh toiletries( I had to go out and buy my own tissue paper), a smelly room, etc.

Thank you for being our guest, and for providing your feedback. I'm concerned about the issues you reported, and will be investigating with our team to find out what happened. I've been on property every day this week, and was at the front desk this morning for check outs, and did not have any of these issues reported. All rooms were inspected today, and no rooms were found without phone cords. Our fridges do indeed get to normal fridge temperatures. While we wait for the last Covid restrictions to be lifted, we are not providing service to occupied rooms, but we are available with all amenities for delivery at any time. I apologize that your stay was so far beyond our standard, and will follow up to ensure that we're communicating effectively and accurately with all guests.

So this is supposed to be a “Premier Collection” hotel. I have stayed in many regular $69 Best Western hotels that were cleaner and had better service than this hotel. The entire hotel is filthy dirty. The furniture in the room (I stayed in a Queen suite) was dirty. The mattress was lumpy and hard. The elevator malfunctioned while we were in it and we got stuck inside it for a while. Valet parking was slow, the desk staff were unfriendly. I can understand due to the type and location of this hotel that they do not have free breakfast like most all other Best Western hotels, but they don’t even have coffee! What hotel does not even provide coffee! I was told to use the nasty single serve pot in the room, go to the pay restaurant adjacent to the hotel, or walk to Starbucks. The only reason I give them two stars instead of one is the location.

Worst guest service ever. Housekeeping do not clean the rooms for days, the staff doesn’t communicate with each other and no one knows why the room hasn’t been cleaned. Even after complaining nothing gets done. Rude staff, the front desk lady hung up the phone on me. They keep saying first thing in the morning because no one is here and still nothing. I would not recommend this place at all. Save your money and go to a clean hotel where they care about guests.

A decent hotel at a reasonable price close enough to walk to the action of the French Quarter. The front desk staff was helpful, although the young lady who we assumed was training, should not chew gum and should try smiling and assisting the public with a little more enthusiasm. Housekeeping was adequate, the bathroom could use a deep cleaning, it appears no one ever looks behind the door. The room was quiet even though it was close to the elevator.

The parking garage that we used is across the street, the Pan American Life Center on Poydras. Parking is $25 a day instead of valet parking with the hotel for $39.90. The garage has an App to pay for parking. The hotel is in a central location to walk around the French Quarter... if you’re traveling during the summer months, keep water and stay hydrated. It may not seem far as you begin to walk, but the heat makes a difference. Connected to the Parking Garage is a Starbucks and Smoothie shop. The corner room that we stayed in was nice and cold. Will definitely stay here again.

I only visited for a few days, but there is a CVS pharmacy (800 Canal St.) less than 1/2 mile walking distance from the Blake Hotel. They're closed now because of the storm, but should re-open soon. I HIGHLY recommend going on the CVS website to reserve a time for your Covid-19 test NO LESS than 2 weeks BEFORE your cruise (if possible). There are a couple of other CVS stores in the area, as well, so good luck with that!
Yes there is a full service market 4.5 blocks away. Rouses at 701 Baronne st. Nice store.
When we stayed, they called us a taxi to get back to the airport. It arrived very quickly. For 3 adults it was $36.
