#9 of 140 B&Bs / Inns in New Orleans
For the remainder of 2020, the Chimes is offering only self-check-in through the courtyard and breakfast is provided at your room door, if requested. All floors/pillows are steam cleaned, surfaces disinfected between guests and no daily housekeeping is offered. The Chimes has just five private and unique guest rooms, some with kitchenettes, some without stairs and all have self-controlled separate A/C-Heater systems (no shared air inside). The Chimes is still, however, a hidden gem just off St. Charles Avenue in the residential Garden District/Uptown neighborhood. Restaurants, coffee houses and shops are within walking distance of this unique, charming spot. The owners are on site with a singular goal: to make you feel comfortable and at home in their city. Queen size beds, shiny hard wood floors, bathrooms with walk-in showers (grab bars, too), French doors, stocked refrigerator and oh, so much more. New Orleans has cachet and when you stay at the Chimes Bed and Breakfast, you will feel it. Physical distancing is currently being requested in the courtyards (there is loads of space). Check our website for specific room amenities. Bring your mask and we'll see you soon!!

We needed to drop our son off at Tulane and find a place for our family to stay...in the time of COVID-19 that felt like a challenge. Not with the contactless check-in and thoughtful service from The Chimes. From the first moment I contacted Jill, her responsiveness and service were outstanding. She outlined all the steps they were taking to make our stay safe and pleasant. The fact that her daughter recently graduated with a degree in infectious diseases probably helped. She was thoughtful about distancing, a breakfast option being able to be delivered to your door, wipes and hand sanitizer all around, fresh coffee and drinks always available. We stayed in the Carriage House which was beautifully decorated, offered comfortable beds, lovely linens, a comfy sofa and a perfect little kitchen tucked under the staircase. The landscaped garden was a joy for breakfast and later in the evening for take-out meals that we were able to order from nearby restaurants. Jill was a great resource throughout our visit and I will only stay here on my next visits to New Orleans.

Room Tip: The Carriage House option offers a magical tree house, cottage get away. For 3 of us, if felt...

Property's Favorite Review
The Chimes is our new home away from home in NOLA. Beautiful and comfortable accommodations with special touches to make you feel at home. Jill is a delightful host with her delicious breakfasts, wonderful conversation and NOLA recommendations. It is a perfect location in the quaint garden district neighborhood - quiet yet close to so many restaurants and the streetcar. You feel like a local staying at the Chimes. We particularly loved the gorgeous tropical courtyards and appreciated the mini kitchens in the room and honor fridge to grab a beverage at the end of the day. We stayed in room 1 which was spacious for more than two people The cleanliness and Covid precautions put us at ease - we felt as safe there as in our own home. Thank you Jill! We can't wait to return.

We stayed for three days and were completely thrilled with everything about The Chimes. Contactless check in. The room was perfect, beautifully decorated and perfectly appointed. We were able to order breakfast that was delivered to our room. The courtyard is delightful and beautifully lit at night. There was a downpour while we were there (it is New Orleans, after all) and I was amazed at how the water ran off the property so quickly. We stayed in Room 4 which is actually two rooms - each with a desk, which worked especially well since we're living on Zoom calls and my husband and I could be on separate calls, without hearing each other. The Chimes was a comfortable (and beautiful) place to stay in the world of COVID. One of the owners, Jill, frequented the courtyard and was a great host sharing bits of information about the property. And a fresh pot of coffee was ready on the courtyard each morning. The Chimes is in an architecturally delightful neighborhood. We enthusiastically endorse The Chimes!

When beginning this new phase, let's call it post Covid, Charles and I prepared by re-establishing what's most important for our guests, the staff and family. The situation called for a complete overhaul of the Chimes. While closed for four months we focused on just that....new spaces, new colors along with new protocol. First, of all, thank you for noting the details of the changes but also appreciating what has been preserved and will continue. Room #4 is now a larger suite for those like you who travel and want someplace to feel like home, even for just a little while. Thank you for sharing your experience with TA fans.

I recommend staying at Chimes Bed and Breakfast. It is located close to restaurants, shopping, public transportation and Audubon Park. The accommodations are very comfortable with outside patio and private entrance. Jill makes sure all health and safety standards are followed. The breakfasts she serves are delicious. There is parking available.

This was Peaceful, Private and Pretty, yet close to shops, restaurants and easy public transportation via historic trolly car, or bus to the French Quarter, Zoo... Perfect for me and my mother in law. We stayed in the carriage house, so we each enjoyed our own private space and breakfast was delightful!
