If Lafcadio Hearn had seen fit to create with his own hands a refuge for his most intimate friends, it would have been the Soniat House. Its deep, timeless beauty is an unfailing apotropaic for the hurly burly of local revelers and bacchantes. Jonathan M, MD SF Neuropsychiatrist

Our first visit, and subsequent review, was in November 2016. Last month, we returned to be married on the suite balcony at Soniat House. The experience was perfect from start to finish. The charm of this endlessly interesting property cannot be overstated. It rests substantially in its attentive and gracious staff, the details of its plantings and decor, and of...

We love this place. It's the only place we stay. The rooms are fantastic, each different. The location is perfect. And the staff is phenomenal, treating you like family. It is classy and charming and offers a good value. And, we love the honor bar.

The Soniat House is a beautifully restored property perfectly situated in the quiet, residential area of the French Quarter a short walk from Jackson Square. The hosts are gracious and accommodating and will fulfill your every need. We really enjoyed our room which had a large bath and opened to the lovely, lush and secure courtyard area where there were...

Stay here for three nights. Nice location and the hotel has charm. It's old, like it appears most hotels in French Quarter are. Service was good...not great, but fine. The big problem is it's the loudest place I've ever stayed. I had three terrible nights of sleep. If a hotel can't provide a quiet and comfortable sleep environment then what...

I Am so sorry. I can tell exactly which room you were in. Your room shared a chimney with the room above. There is a soundboard in the chimney which occasionally is dislodged buy large trucks passing. It will be corrected today. Please do come back and give us another chance.

Soniat House was a find and favorite! Not to say it no longer is; but what a difference a room makes. Initially we were given a lovely room on the 3rd floor, a deeply sloped garret.. My husband was worried he would hit his head on the beams which I thought was a stretch. Unfortunately, not the case. We had...

We go to New Orleans for major birthdays, anniversaries or just to go. When we go, we stay at the Soniat House. It is a wonderful hotel but more than that as we know the staff and they know us. That relationship makes it home and not a hotel. From the first time we went in 1991 to this past...

Soniat hotel has an old world charm,a calm oasis amidst the mayhem of mardi gras. Loved the location very convenient for transport and walking distance to most of mardi gras parades. Staff very helpful, breakfast on the patio was a lovely way to start the day. Room was very comfortable . A lovely experience.

My father booked the Soniat House without my knowledge for a business trip. Soniat House was generous to upgrade him to the most beautiful suite in the hotel which they did not have to do. We enjoyed this suite to meet and it was extra special when it just happened to be my 46th an my dad's 75th birthday. My...

Loved the quaint property but was disappointed when I injured my knee(dancing) and couldn't walk the next morning I would have loved someone to come over when I sat in the lovely courtyard for my departure time just to say Hi how are doing and good luck with your knee. It's been 7 weeks and I still can't walk.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
