we were able to walk everywhere from this hotel - check in was slow upon arrival (they stick to the 4 pm check in time) but everything else was awesome !! Cafe de Monde is only a few steps from the front door !! loved it here and will definitely stay here each time we're in the Big Easy

My wife and I stayed at Place D'Armes for Mardi Gras and realized we could not have made a better choice. Our room (229) with a private balcony right over the front door was a great place to watch people and relax. It had an incredible bathroom and you could tell it had been updated even with a flat screen...

This was my 10th visit to the Place D' Armes over the last three years. I adore this hotel and most everyone that works there. The location is beyond compare and staff is very accommodating. The rooms are very nice, although some are dated. I do know that the hotel has been doing upgrades and renovations. I have seen the...

This was our fourth stay at the Place d'Armes -- and again, hospitality, fine accomodations, and a wonderful staff made us feel welcome and "part of the family." Our room was impeccable, the view wonderful, and the facilities charming. Special praise for Dionne -- who makes you feel welcome as soon as you come in the door -- and Lynn...

I originally had booked at the number one rated travelers lodge, but changed after talking to a relative who had stayed at the Place d'Armes Hotel. This was our first visit to New Orleans. We decided to have a mini vacation in NOLA, before getting on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. As they say in real estate...location, location, location. The...

I always stay at the Plade d' Armes in the French Quarter. The European charm of the structure and ambience is outstanding. The rooms are clean and comfortable, absolutely love the courtyard. Safety is one of my main issues at any hotel, I have never been disappointed. We had dinner and brunch at Muriels in the French Quarters- FANTASTIC, Oceana's...

This is likely the best place to stay in French Qurter. It is a block from Burbon street but you can sleep in perfect quiet on Mardis Gras night and wake up at 11 am refreshed. Bed is excellent. The hotel is really buitifil but iot is old and old style and just cannot make that spakling clean impression that...

We recently stayed four four nights, having booked this hotel sight unseen, based soley on reviews from this site. Our confidence in other people's experiences and opinions was well founded. We too rate the Place d'Armes highly for many of the same reasons as other visitors. The charm and character of the property is readily evident and the photos accurately...

Would you like to stay at a small cozy hotel with a lot of character? Look no further. The price was very reasonable for spacious rooms, a pleasant continental breakfast, with parking on the premises, and in the heart of the French Quarter. I had to give the Place d'Armes the highest marks. Their staff was absolutely outstanding! From the...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
