If you stay here, bring your own shampoo. Breakfast was pre-packaged blueberry muffins along with other pre-packaged items. The bed squeaked whenever you moved. Coffee was always available so that was nice. Quality of service fluctuated depending on the staff's mood. We stayed a week and had to take care of the room maintenance ourselves. If those things don't bother...

We came to this hotel at the suggestion of a nearby hotel that was full. It was quite easy to get into and the very friendly owner gave us a discount right off the bat. We were able to renew the next morning at the discounted rate. It is cute enough from the outside and the main lobby is decorated...

N.O. guest house is across a four lane thoroughfare from the French Quarter. So it is easy to walk there. I didn't have a car but free parking is provided. My room was nice with a nice bathroom. the staff was very pleasant and helpful, Breakfast is served outside. There is a nice small balcony on some of the rooms...

Writing a negative review is usually not my thing, but this place was so inhospitable that warning others off might, if you're lucky, inspire the owners to change their policies. First of all, the staff were indifferent if not hostile. I had several questions but each time I passed the lobby they were busy on the phone or computer and...

Came to New Orleans for the first time in March of 2011, and my first stop was at the N.O.G.H. (read=New Orleans Guest House), which I had booked on a whim. My first impression was that this place was pink. I mean, actually pink in color. My second impression was that this place had just the kind of atmosphere I...

What this little place lacked in a few areas...it more than made up for with character and great service. I read a few recent reviews on here after the management change and had almost decided to stay somewhere else...but we are very happy we discovered this little hideaway. The location is perfect. Far enough away to not be bothered...but close...

Definitely plan on staying here again - We came to New Orleans for a weekend getaway and loved staying here. It isn't a 5-star experience by any means but so perfect for what we were looking for. Comfortable room, clean, and a quick breakfast in the morning.

The management at New Orleans Guest House doesn't seem to care about customers at all. They're rude and condescending, even when correcting their mistakes (e.g. no toilet paper in the room), or asking a simple question (like "what time does breakfast close?"). Housekeeping is vitually non-existent. All they do is make the bed and fold the towels. The towels are...

The previous reviews are glowing, so it must be the new management. We were charged extra for double room occupancy presumably for the "continental breakfast" which consisted of packaged pastries (honey buns) and Otis Myer packaged muffins. There were stale croissants as well. All were served on the very dirty patio where the owners also had out cat food and...

Staying in Treme

Neighborhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
