We took a delayed honeymoon to NOLA and I found this place on the Internet. Fell in love with the room, the staff, and the location. We stayed three nights total and reserved a balcony room each time. Bed was comfortable, hotel was clean but not perfect (c'mon folks, you trade paint dings and worn carpet for character...it was built... More

If you are all about luxury and amenities, this is not your place. If you are in New Orleans and want to stay somewhere that's comfortable and has the same funky vibe as the city itself, then this is the place for you! I have stayed here a few times and each time, I find myself loving it a bit... More

We stayed at this hotel as a quick weekend get away. If you are looking to stay at the Montelone, by all means stay there. This hotel is old, but has charm and personality. During our stay, the elevator was in the the process of being replaced so, we got extra exercise in going up and down the stairs !... More

This is the best bed and breakfast in the French Quarter for my money. In the middle of it all but in a quiet part of the Quarter. The Campo Family have been restoring this place for a while, it's extremely old. Pluses: - Across the street from bakery. Fresh croissants at 5am. - inner courtyard to hang out in,... More

The Villa Convento is not your average hotel. It's aged, slightly run-down, kind of eclectic, and not very up-to-date. But all those things is what gives it the charm that I loved. It's in the PERFECT location to enjoy the Quarter without needing any transportation and on a scenic section of Ursulines Street. We had a room on the top... More

Some friends and I stayed here last weekend. Friendly staff upon arrival. Clean rooms with nice TV. Good price for location. Close to middle of quarter. Would recommend and will look to stay here again next visit.

Loved this place. Get there early for complimentary parking, but be warned that it is not right next to the hotel, it's a few blocks away. That was the only drawback to what was, for us, a great stay. This is an older hotel with a lot of character and charm with a fun spirit. The front desk has a... More

I've enjoyed the Convento about a dozen times, and have reservations for 2 more visits coming up. Perfect location for me and mine, great staff, quirky rooms, and very fair prices. The Convento may not be fancy or modern, but it is full of charm, and you will feel more connected to the Quarter than you would feel in a... More

We stayed in a King half balcony room overlooking Ursuline Street. The room was clean, and cool with a nice modern TV and a small balcony. This place is perfect for someone who is going to go out and experience the French Quarter and then come home and sleep it off only to do it again the next day. There... More

Overall, really enjoyed the stay. The location was great. Just a few blocks from the most 'happening areas' of the French Quarter. Great bakery across the street. Friendly/helpful staff. Enjoyed the front balcony. Would be 5 stars, but the room was a bit shabby for the price and not quite as clean as you would hope for. So very good... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
