The staff were friendly, the room was huge and clean. However a very large, loud wedding party was booked in the rooms directly next to ours. There was an adjoining door that we kept locked but they tried to open it several times a night multiple nights in a row. We also had a room with no view. There was a brick wall so the room was very dark. I was a little disappointed we couldn’t be moved and had no clue some of the rooms had such terrible views. We couldn’t move to another room because the hotel was booked. Just be sure when booking of a view is important you request a room with a view/balcony.

My wife and i had not been back to the Dauphine for nearly 10 years, having spent time in New Orleans but on business at convention hotels. We were originally recommended to the Dauphine by a frequent visitor to N.O. who said it was his favorite hideaway, and it soon became our for 15 years in the 90s and early 00s. When we returned from a weekend, we were disappointed. Service was not the same at front desk or bell. We loved rooms across the street hidden away but they were apparently not refurbished yet. The room we had above the tiny pool area was noisy and a wedding party was camping out there. I imagine they had quieter locations but the wedding party had booked those rooms. The buffet breakfast was mediocre. We did enjoy the historic bar and good conversations with fellow travelers. One find was that the Dauphine has a sister hotel, where we went to do our fitness exercise and it was very inviting, although very small fitness area. The room we had had been refurbished and was quite nice. A great place for wedding parties and perhaps families.

While we did not get to stay here, I was so impressed and relieved by the customer service at Dauphine this spring that I feel compelled to leave a positive review. We had planned an amazing New Orleans getaway for early May 2020. Unfortunately, this trip was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were anticipating a struggle to get our money back, given the hotel obviously needs to meet a bottom line and stay open. Instead, the staff was extremely friendly and gracious. They gave us a refund right away and didn't pressure us to return. They told us to come back when it's safe and that they can't wait to have us in the future, but in the meantime to take care of ourselves. It would have been very easy for them to keep all or some of our money, or at least make the process difficult, as many other businesses have been. We can't wait to visit some day in the future and will definitely be booking the Dauphine for our trip.

It was my daughter's 21st birthday and she loved it. Her first time in New Orleans. I also brought my son and oldest daughter along and they really enjoyed themselves. We would come back and stay at the same hotel since it was close to everything.

We selected the Dauphine Orleans Hermann House because of the reviews and Hermann House online photos. We stayed in room 242. For the most part everything was fine. The problem we had was with the bathroom. It was in poor condition (cracked and loose tiles, very small). The biggest problem was the toilet backing up. We had to have the maintenance staff repair 3 of the 4 days we were there. For the majority of the time we used bathrooms at other businesses which was uncomfortable. The staff did apologize and provided a 10% discount on the room but I doubt I would stay there again.
