The Dauphine Orleans Hotel, while celebrated for its prime location near Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, receives mixed feedback on several fronts. Guests commend the hotel's atmosphere, recognizing its charm but also suggesting it could benefit from a revamp. Concerns are raised about room conditions, citing a need for updates and improved cleanliness.
Service quality appears to waver, with reports of both welcoming and lackluster encounters. Noise levels are frequently noted as problematic, and while the hotel's amenities draw criticism for being dated, opinions on overall value vary, with some guests dissatisfied with additional charges.

Hotel's Favorite
We were very happy with everything about our visit at Dauphine. The room had plenty of space and a great private balcony, which we spent a lot of time on. The hotel has been around for some time, so is not modern. We wanted a New Orleans vibe, so it was what we wanted.
Nice to have an in-room fridge/coffee maker. It was an easy walk to nearly everywhere we wanted to go. Staff was friendly too.

I would generally recommend this hotel and consider staying here again. The service was excellent. They accommodated my request for a quiet room by placing me over the courtyard and away from the elevator, which was appreciated. The building is old and charming, with a lot of local color. I had the deluxe room, and it was the size of a typical room in a modern hotel, which you don't always get in old buildings.
My bed was comfortable and the bathroom both clean and attractively tiled. It was cool to have a balcony, though the parking lot view dimmed the romance factor. This hotel engages in a lot of surge pricing both up and down during peak and low demand times, so your view may be affected by when you stay/how much you pay. For $106/night, I feel I got a good value, however, the weekend prices are quite high and someone paying $200+ might not feel that way, as it is more of a mid-tier than a luxury property. The carpet showed signs of wear and there was a water stain on my ceiling, neither of which bothered me much, but they might someone else.
Breakfast is NOT included in the rate, as some of the reviews say - this may be a recent change. It's nice to have it available, but the spread is not too exciting. I ate there the first day and elsewhere thereafter. I felt the same about the bar. No one was there except a handful of hotel guests, but it is a pretty, historic room in which to have a free drink, and serves as a place you can hang out if you want an alternative to your room or to chat with other guests.
I did not like the location as much as I expected, which is why I took off a star. It is very close to the heart of upper Bourbon street, and now that I've been there, I would want a location as far away from it as possible. You have to walk through the party to get anywhere else in the Quarter from Dauphine. The noise does not reach the block but the partiers do, some of whom stay at this hotel. The property is also fairly far from the waterfront where a lot of the historic attractions are, and the Frenchman street nightlife area (WAY better than Bourbon) is barely within walking distance. This section of the Quarter is extremely touristy, with a lot of the famous high end restaurants but no nice little bakeries or anything like a family restaurant. Next time I come to NOLA I will try the lower Quarter or Marigny.

Quaint king rooms in the old carriage houses. Nice shower and plenty of room. Staff was excellent, extremely helpful and genuinely friendly. If you want to eat at all the best places ask the daytime front desk clerk and she will hook you up. My only complaint would be the quality of the linens/cleanliness of the room for the price paid.

Loved this hotel!! Me and a friend stayed at this hotel mostly because we watched this show on youtube called "Buzzfeed Unsolved" and wanted to stay at the same hotel as the two dudes on the show did and to see if we felt any spookiness or ghosts. It didn't feel spooky and we didnt see any ghosts here or at the neighboring bar May Baily's but it's a very nice and charming hotel!!! The hotel staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The small toilet and sink are really charming and very reminiscent of the time it was built. A bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it if you want to be within walking distance of most everything in the French Quarter. Everything is within 5-15 minutes walk if you want to stay mostly in the French Quarter. Bourbon street is only a block away but you don't hear any of the craziness or noise. The free breakfast was also nice, its like a continental breakfast and had the basics with eggs, bacon, fruit, bagels, bread, cereal, coffee, etc. It's very clean and well-kept. I definitely recommend this hotel!!! I'm mostly just happy I got to stay at the same hotel as Ryan and Shane from Buzzfeed Unsolved though lol.

The staff were friendly, the room was huge and clean. However a very large, loud wedding party was booked in the rooms directly next to ours. There was an adjoining door that we kept locked but they tried to open it several times a night multiple nights in a row. We also had a room with no view. There was a brick wall so the room was very dark. I was a little disappointed we couldn’t be moved and had no clue some of the rooms had such terrible views. We couldn’t move to another room because the hotel was booked. Just be sure when booking of a view is important you request a room with a view/balcony.

Only a block off Bourbon Street, this hotel allowed us to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Our room had a lovely balcony over the street which we really enjoyed. However, it made for a lot of street noise from about 5am. For us, it was worth it but I would bring earplugs next time. Our room included breakfast and a drink coupon. Breakfast was slightly better than most hotel breakfasts and exactly the same every day. We went to the bar to enjoy our free drink coupons and were the only patrons at the bar. The bartender clearly wanted to watch the tv not chat with us so we returned to our room with our drink and enjoyed it there, instead of staying and ordering any additional drinks which I suspect was the point of the coupon. Every other staff member we met went above and beyond to be pleasant and help ensure we had a great visit to New Orleans. A special thank you to David for the " very best beignets" recommendation, they were to die for! If arriving at the airport call the hotel and ask them to order your taxi. The one we caught on our arrival was filthy and full of cigarette smoke. The hotel called Moe for us when we were departing. His taxi was beautiful, clean and Moe was pleasant and helpful. We will definitely stay at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel when we return.

The only thing good about this hotel was the bed and the valet. The door to my room did not even close completely there was at least a 1/2 inch gap which allowed light and sound to come into the room. We had to prop a chair up against the door with suitcases on top so that we felt more safe. The room had a bathtub with a shower in it but the shower was not operational that should have been disclosed to us when we arrived so we could have moved if we needed to. The little sheet of paper you sign says if you leave you have to pay like over $200 in some kind of fees if you check out early. There were 2 patio doors which did not lock and secure properly. One to a patio and one door that if you stepped out you would drop all the way down to the parking lot. So glad there were no children with me. On our last day there some people were acting crazy in the hall rolling a luggage cart up and down the hall being completely ridiculous. Another customer finally came out and told them to put the quiji board up and go to bed so they left. The people that worked the front desk need to get a different job.

Having stayed here twice before I had fond memories of The old Dauphine Hotel about twenty years ago. I actually stayed here with my now husband when we first started to go out with each other. With this in mind and knowing we were going to New Orleans I contacted the hotel in advance in July for a December booking, requesting the same room that we stayed in way back when. The hotel came back to me and said that there would be an upgrade charge to book that room. Sentimental old me agreed that this would be alright. On arrival we didn't get the room I wanted and thought I was going to get - very, very disappointing. The hotel was fully booked and so nothing could be done to rectify this. We were given a room on the second floor overlooking the pool area, apparently also an upgrade room, I didn't feel it was. Everything about the room, the facilities, generally everything was tired and dirty. The bar area had an unpleasant smell, the pool looked in need of upgrade. Fixtures and fittings everywhere were shabby. The area outside the hotel was run down and there was a disused shop doorway just down from the hotel that tramps were using as a toilet. It was very unpleasant and obviously was never cleaned, you had to pass it to get to the areas that you wanted to. I paid over £200 a night to stay in this delightful place!! Certainly not the same as it used to be, and that didn't even include breakfast. I've heard that the breakfast is lacking though in every way from other reviews, but for the money paid it would have been informative to find out. Truly gone downhill, American customer value and service is definitely a thing of the past.

It was just OK. I’m confused about the different reviews. Location is excellent but be mindful if you get a balcony room - they are loud with cars driving by blaring music and revving engines. Room needs serious updates and a deep cleaning. Our room was pretty run down. Housekeeping missed us the first day then failed to replace towels the next - didn’t replace the empty tissue or replace the coffee after it was used and had to call for towels when they took ours but didn’t bring any back. Called but nobody came with towels til the next day. The humidity causes the doors to all be off kilter so there is lots of slamming to close doors. Pool is cute as is the courtyard! It looks like the king size bed rooms are better than the two Queen we stayed in. Front desk staff is friendly. If you aren’t big on the actual room- this is an excellent central location.

First, the positives: front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the courtyard was charming and comfortable, and the pool looked very clean. The location was great! But . . .I booked this hotel through Priceline. I have never stayed in a room that didn't have either a king bed or two queens, but after I booked I was told there was one standard size bed which was quite a concern for us. I tried calling but there was nothing that could be done. The room we ended up with did have only one bed but it was a king so it worked out ok. However, it was definitely a room they put on Priceline because they should have been embarrassed to charge full price - the carpet was so old it was thin and lumpy in places (to the point of being a tripping hazard), the chairs had no cushion left in them, and the AC was not working. Someone did come up to fiddle with the AC and eventually told us it was good - it took hours to cool down though and we were afraid to touch the thermostat for the remainder of our stay lest it go off again. I have a feeling the regular rooms must be much nicer as this hotel has a good ranking here, but would not recommend booking through Priceline or other discount method. (Just to clarify, we still paid a fairly high price for the room even so ($279/night), but it was JazzFest so everything was more expensive.) For that price, I expected more.

There are sheets on the beds.
Hi there! I’m wondering about the sheets too. Did you have to take your own?
I'm not sure I can answer your question since our room faced the small courtyard. However, if you have read my review, you would know that we will not stay at the Dauphine again. Filthy!
We did not have a balcony so cannot help. The hotel suite we had was very dirty with black mould in the bathroom. We will never recommend.
