The Cornstalk Hotel has been renovated and refurbished featuring fourteen exquisite guest rooms. Brilliant crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and furnishings adorn the entrance hall, beautifully set off by high vaulted ceilings. The rosette scrolls, cherubs, medallions, stained-glass windows, fireplaces and canopy beds are all relics of a Louisiana plantation home. We are in the heart of the Vieux Carre' (French Quarter), with the sights, the sounds, the gourmet food and night life of old New Orleans.

Booked 2 nights for my wedding. The first night we were upgraded to their largest room which was spacious and lovely. The decor is amazing however the television didn’t work in this room and when we advised them they didnt know how to fix the television. I also needed to borrow an iron and an ironing board... I received a terrible old iron and board which didn’t even stand up right,.. the iron was so old it burnt my beautiful dress.

Stayed here 1 night. The room needed some TLC very old, stuffy and badly needs a refurbishment. The windows are single pane so you can hear everything outside. The front porch is lovely and beautiful. Customer service could be more professional and courteous. Price point is mostly due to convenient location and history of the hotel, not based on stellar accommodations.

The Cornstalk was in a great part of the French Quarter, had lots of original charm but felt a little unloved. I was really looking forward to my 6 night stay - we had booked 4 rooms in total. It was also very cold in my room as there is no heating in the hotel and i stayed in January. There was constant cold air blasting up from vents in the floor which i covered with towels to prevent the room getting even colder. I did get an old heater from the reception one day but they took it back as it was heating up the reception. I had to sleep in my jumper each night. The shower wasn’t great it ran cold after a few minutes. I also had a used condom wrapper under my bed when i arrived and it was there two days later until I had to get someone from the reception to retrieve it. It could be a great place with a bit of an upgrade but I wont be booking again for my next trip.

This hotel was definitely historic. The rooms were old and a little worn, but it’s all about the experience. It was safe and clean, and the location could not be beat. No restaurants onsite, but Nola is full of amazing restaurants. The staff were really nice.

I had been looking forward to a stay at the Cornstalk for years ever since it was featured on the young and the restless. I finally got there for a 1 night stay after my cruise. To say the least I was very disappointed in every aspect of this stay. From the non friendliness of check in to the cleanliness and charm of the room, nothing looks like the photos on their website! It needs a full overhaul to keep its historic charm. The curtains in the room were tattered nothing seemed to be kept up the bathroom seemed unkept and dirty There was no charm from checking to checkout No one assisted us or ask if we needed help. Upon check in we arrived early and knew our room would not be ready We were told u can put your bag in there had to place our own luggage in the room next to the check in desk which is 1 small desk, we were not even greeted Welcome to the Cornstalk Hotel, very aloof and rude. Upon checkout as we were lugging our bags to the front door the same employee that checked us in was on his phone talking and loudly said Well room 4 just left. For 200$ a night, never again a huge disappointment, I definitely will not recommended this boutique hotel to anyone. I would have much rather stayed at the Marriott Angela C

This is a beautiful historic home centrally located in the French Quarter. Only a couple blocks from Jackson Square. It’s on Royal street which is the best street in the Quarter, in my opinion. So location was the number one reason to stay here. The courtyard is actually in front of the house as opposed to the back, like other properties. So we were able to relax with a cup of tea and watch the people on Royal Street and listen to the guy playing guitar across the street. The building itself is over 200 years old and quite lovely. So keep that in mind, it won’t be as well kept as some of the newer buildings but that really didn’t bother me. The room was decorated well, four poster beds, Victorian era wallpaper, chandelier, etc The room was clean, the AC cold, and the water hot. That’s all I needed. Private bathroom in all rooms. The central location was really the best feature of the house. I would stay there again.

Believe it or not, my mother and I stayed at the Cornstalk House when I was about 15 years old. That was in 1963. I remembered the visit as magical, so I wanted my husband to enjoy the way I did. This year is our 50th wedding anniversary. The visit did not disappoint! Our room was on the second floor on the right facing Royal. It was lovely and furnished with antiques. The only thing I would suggest is the need for more than one chair in the room. The bed was too high to use as seat. We had access to a guest shared balcony on the front of house right next to our room. That was a fun spot to drink wine and watch the extemporaneous Mardi Gras parades and tours that stop to teach about the history of the house. I would have loved an elevator but I did enjoy our room. If we had planned ahead, there are first floor rooms to rent. Thanks to the staff for finding a spot to park our car on sight! We didn’t need it since we could walk wherever we wanted to go. I am sure I go back to the Cornstalk Hotel!

The hotel is a beautiful historic building that takes you back to the beginning of the last century, with a typical decoration well maintained. However, It would be a great surprise if the room was modernized (at least the bathroom). Besides that, nothing bad to say. The location, though, was super!

I love historic homes, and this is one of the best in the French Quarter. All guests have assess to the balcony overlooking Royal Street-great people watching. All the tour companies stop by and talk about this home and its history. Since it is an older house, some of the rooms are very small with even smaller bathrooms. There are some larger rooms, so ask for a larger room with a larger bathroom. We stayed in room 209 which is small, but it overlooks Royal Street-a plus! I don't mind the room being small because of so much character! This hotel is in a great location to walk anywhere in the French Quarter. There are some pros and cons. Pros: new carpet (I personally prefer wood floors), good WiFi, friendly staff, check-out not until noon, beautiful antiques and furnishings, valet parking, balcony, free bottled water daily, welcome center with coffee and infused water, great location, comfortable bedding, very clean and secure. Cons: no phone in room, no refrigerator or microwave, no pool, smaller rooms, and no thermostat in every room (ask for a room with a thermostat). This is an old home so you will see signs of aging. If you love antiques and history, you will love this hotel. I would definitely go back!
