My wife and I had the pleasure of staying for five days at Eco Granja Don LoLo at the beginning of March. Our cabin (one of three) was perfectly situated in the trees with the resident Toucan and the humming birds beyond the deck in the mornings and evenings. The Rodriguez family operates a dairy (20 Jersies) making cheese and butter and has a garden to supply their restaurant Las Hortensias with vegetables and herbs. Don Luis is the patron and his older son, Armando, makes cheese, greets dinner guests and is a fine sommelier. Younger son, Guillermo, is a passionate chef and has made Restaurant Los Hortensias (hydrangea) a local destination. This is a family dream to create a sustainable farm and tourist destination which truly expresses Costa Rica’s “Pure Vida”, but in a down-to-earth style. We don’t know Spanish, but the family speaks English and graciously helped us to understand and appreciate Quesada and the Central Valley. This is definitely a must visit. Room Tip: All cabins are well kept. No need for noisy A/C cool at night, but we were cozy.
