I spent 7 days here doing the yoga program. It was absolutely beautiful - the hotel, the room, the pool, sauna/cold plunge, the jungle and nature walks. The food was absolutely delicious (all organic, raw, vegan + keto options). The staff - every single person was kind and generous from the front desk, the yoga teachers, massage therapists, the kitchen staff - - I can not say enough about how soul-filling my time here was and how healing. I will definitely be returning.

Another amazing trip to my favorite place on earth! Traveling is my passion and I never go anywhere twice bc the world is too big to repeat… however this was my third trip and I’m already trying to book my fourth 🤣 HDS is a place where you can truly recharge and reset… this trip was short (only 5 days) but I made the most of my time in paradise. All my treatments exceeded all expectations, the food was delicious, the staff was exceptional and as always the guests were a joy. If you are on the fence about coming, do yourself the favor of letting go and experiencing this magical place. I truly can’t imagine anyone not having an amazing experience! I wanted peace, nature, and health, and I got exactly that. The food was outstanding, the staff amazingly wonderful, the treatments a treat, and all else the cherry on the cake of a perfect healthy and nature, filled break.

This was my first time at a wellness resort, so I was a little unsure what to expect. And because it was my first time, I only booked a 7-day stay (looking back, my only regret, is that I didn't stay longer). After a long and arduous road trip from the airport to the hotel, I was greeted by two staff members (JJ and Candela) with fresh coconut water (still in the coconut w/ straws). Little did I know, JJ and Candela would soon be my two favorite people in the world, along with every other member of the resort. The staff here, are amazing, friendly, and extremely talented at their respective talents, whether it be hotel hospitality, massage, healing, culinary, yoga, etc. All top notch. And all service and hospitality comes with a smile, as the staff here are some of the friendliest people I ever met. ROOMS were spectacular, newly remodeled, stylish, and very clean with jungle views right outside your balcony. FOOD was fresh, locally grown, organic and mostly from their own garden. The menu was quite extensive, and sure to please everyone. And every meal I had was absolutely delicious! More importantly, since the kitchen is open all day - so all food, juices, beverages, smoothies were abundant. It's basically all-you-can-eat. Since the meals are all prepared fresh, there's a little bit of wait time, which is expected, So they recommend you place your orders for breakfast, lunch and dinner the night before so they are prepared the next day in advance. You can even specify what time you want to eat, and they will have it ready for you. However, you can also order food on the fly, which I did quite often, and they will always accommodate you if you don't mind waiting a bit. AND they even have "menu specials" on the board every day to mix things up. Chef Victor and our waiter Steven, were always happy and smiling, and making the guests feel at home. CLASSES, instruction, services (yoga, fitness, sound healings, fascia, keto, massage etc) were all optional and I never felt any pressure to participate in anything. They never tried to "sell" me anything. As a matter of fact, they let you "be". If you want to sit by the pool or in the jacuzzi all week, so be it. No pressure. Nobody will bother you. Want to skip yoga? No problem. Again, no pressure. If you want, you can cuddle up on one of many couches or private meditation/meeting rooms and just read a book all week. And nobody will bother you. However, I highly recommend participating in as much as you can. The Thai massage and fascia blasting (by Vera) was freakin' awesome! Vera, is truly gifted and has magic in her hands. She relieved me of both back and shoulder pain in just two days. And HDS's founder, Menlha, got rid of abdominal pains with her Craniosacral Therapy. I was quite moved and touched by her gentleness and compassion. BEACHES are nearby, and the resort schedules a shuttle bus every late afternoon so you can catch the sunset. STAFF became like family in just one short week. Parting from them was actually difficult, I felt a bond. I felt cared for, I felt pampered, I felt appreciation. I could've stayed here for months. I went to Hacienda Del Sol for a solo retreat to rest and recover from burnout, and I had an amazing time. There really is something special about this place - the energy is so peaceful and restorative. My cabin was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the jungle. The staff were attentive, thoughtful, and kind. The food was delicious and the yoga classes offered a good balance of challenging and soothing movement, along with meditation and breathwork that helped calm my frazzled nervous system. My days here were peaceful and meditative, long and slow and beautiful. One of the best parts of my stay were the two "fascia blasting" body treatments I had with Vera. I've been getting massages regularly for nearly 20 years, and no other massage has given me anything close to the immediate relief I got from these treatments. After the second session (which I booked immediately after the first, canceling, the deep tissue massage I had scheduled to do another fascia blasting session with Vera instead), I felt so much relief that I had a big, happy cry when I got back to my room. These sessions relieved tension throughout my body that I hadn't even realized I was carrying around, and Vera worked intuitively, finding places of tension and using the tools to release it. I really cannot overstate how life-changing these treatments were for me. I bought some of the tools and I'll be doing fascia blasting on myself (Hacienda Del Sol also offers classes in how to use these tools on yourself that are very helpful) and I'm trying to find someone in my area who offers these treatments. But Vera was particularly gifted at using these tools - if I go to Hacienda Del Sol again (and I intend to), I plan to do these treatments with her every day while I'm there. My only complaint is that diet culture takes center stage here. I'm in long-term recovery from an eating disorder and I practice Intuitive Eating. I'm also a lifelong vegetarian and I went to Hacienda Del Sol for rest and a reset in a place where I was excited about being able to eat everything on the menu and enjoy fresh, organic, local produce. But a lot of other people there were doing juice cleanses or keto diets, and the conversation at meal times often centered around weightloss and restrictive eating. Several guests and one visiting instructor offered unsolicited weight loss advice. This meant I often had to remove myself from conversations and situations to protect my mental health. Luckily, this wasn't difficult; the number of guests is intentionally kept small here so it's always easy to go find peace and quiet somewhere. I knew what I was getting into going to retreat that advertises juice cleanses and colonics, so I was prepared to remove myself from conversations centered around diet culture if necessary, and I did so in a way that protected my peace and made the retreat to still work for me. Obviously the staff can't control what guests talk about, but it occurred to me that Hacienda Del Sol could tap into a whole new market of people like me who are working to restore a healthy relationship with food if they were to bring on a dietician certified in Intuitive Eating (or have their on-site keto advisor get this certification). And Hacienda Del Sol would feel more welcoming to people in larger bodies if their yoga instructors, visiting instructors, and staff were educated in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES). Aside from those complaints, I really loved my time at Hacienda Del Sol. I'm an adventurous traveler and don't usually go to the same place twice, but I hope to come back here again next winter, and I foresee myself returning to Hacienda Del Sol anytime I need to rest and reset.…

Such a great experience. If you were looking for just a way to relax and reset your body. This place is amazing. The entire staff is so wonderful. They’re very accommodating and helpful and kind. The food is amazing. All the instructors are very knowledgeable. I got a rest and restore package, which was well worth the money. my massage therapist Shar was incredible. I will be returning.

HDS was even better than I expected! I did the 21 day cleanse and came out of it feeling fabulous! The fasting and diet coaches are well-informed. The food is delicious, much of it grown in their own garden. The yoga and exercise classes are great and they have excellent massage therapists and extremely helpful staff. It’s in the jungle so the accommodation is rustic but very comfortable.
