Had a family college event in Madison and stayed at the beautiful Livingston Inn. The home was impeccable and incredibly restored to his historic origins. The location was so peaceful by the lake, yet central to Capitol, University, and restaurants. Peggy was so warm and welcoming, cooks up a sweet breakfast as well! Missed the 'wine hour' but enjoyed a glass in the music filled sitting room. The suite was large, spotless and comfortable. The ambiance of the fireplace and luxury of the updated bathroom was perfect for a relaxing morning. I would highly recommend staying at Peggy's Livingston Inn when you visit Madison!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home, with a gorgeous lakeside location and less than a mile’s walk to town and campus. Would definitely return and recommend. This historic home, meticulously restored, was once the home of the mayor of Madison. Peggy the innkeeper is so hospitable and has lots of knowledge about the home’s history and the sights Madison has to offer.
Our stay at the Livingston Inn was brief as we had only one night in Madison, but we wish it had been longer! The property is beautiful, including the common areas (dining room, parlor, etc.), the outside grounds down to the lakeside, and our room. Peggy was such a personable host and made us feel right at home. I highly recommend the Livingston Inn.
My mom stayed at the Livingston and my partner and I visited for two breakfasts! Peggy was a wonderful and very hospitable host and we loved exploring the place, chatting with Peggy and the other guests, and eating some fantastic rhubarb crumble (made with rhubarb from the garden). Highly recommend!
My wife and I spent a weekend here and it was wonderful, centrally located both for enjoying Madison and easy travel to other nearby attractions. The house is a wonderful example of style and architecture, near the lake and near downtown, but quiet enough in the evenings to really enjoy it. The house is within walking distance of most major attractions or restaurants, but a car helps to get around if weather does not cooperate. Peggy was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the property and about the area, she creates a warm atmosphere making strangers feel like family in the mornings. She also made some wonderful dinner suggestions which helped us to more fully enjoy Madison. We would like to stay here again in the future if visiting Madison
