My boyfriend and I spent one night at the Livingstone Inn. We were impressed by the look of the house to begin with, just to find out the inside is even more fabulous. Different elements from all over the world harmoniously integrated into the romantic atmosphere of the house. I swear the pictures online don’t do it justice! We also really appreciated the chocolates and the wine. I had the pleasure to meet the owner Peggy the next morning, who prepared yummy homemade breakfast for us. Beyond having a fun conversation with me, she was more than kind to offer driving me to the megabus stop and making sure I could safely board my return trip. Overall we enjoyed so much our stay at the Livingstone Inn! Thank you Peggy!
We had such a great time with Peg and the stay at the house was amazing. We hope to be back soon. We are also vegetarian, and she prepared the most wonderful breakfast for us. We would definitely suggest you stay here is such an old and beautiful house.
This was our first time staying at The Livingston Inn, but it will not be our last! Peggy is the perfect hostess and made us feel at home right away. Our room was lovely with a nice view of the frozen lake. The food was amazing and even though we had to head out early the next morning, we were able to enjoy Swedish pancakes with bacon, Greek yogurt with homemade granola, scrambled eggs and a great cup of coffee. We will recommend The Livingston Inn to family and friends who visit the Madison area and we will be returning this Spring/Summer when we can enjoy all things in downtown Madison without experiencing a wind chill!
We have really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. It was really cozy and comfortable and made you feel at home. There is plenty of room to sit in the living rooms and additional drinks are available. The bedroom was nice with a good bed. The innkeeper made a great breakfast and had lots of good advice for exploring the city.
We cannot recommend this inn strongly enough. Peggy is the perfect hostess and makes her guests feel like family and is a font of information on local sites and restaurants. Her breakfasts are superb--creamy yogurt with fresh fruit and homemade granola, gourmet egg dish and baked goods such as lemon poppy seed scones. We were bowled over when she actually got up at 4:30AM to make us a bagel and egg breakfast sandwich for our early flight!! The rooms are very quiet (important to us) and beautifully decorated as is the rest of the house. Wine is available in the evening. If you are visiting Madison, you can't do better than The Livingston Inn.
