Clearly conscientious, experienced hosts dedicated to providing a top-notch visit. The gathering of kindred-spirited guests of all ages and from diverse locations was delightful, starting with a much appreciated, fresh-baked snack awaiting us as late arrivals. We joined others in the sitting room and started some very enjoyable conversation that continued at breakfast. Anything that was gluten-free was so good,... More

Went during February, so we couldn't experience the full beauty. The B&B is very cozy and quaint. The owner is very nice and personable. We asked for a vegan breakfast and she was happy to oblige. Although, being located on a busy road, it was nice and quiet and its also close to a variety of restaurants. It will be... More

I have stayed at the Arbor House several times now on business, in every season. It is always highly comfortable, the breakfasts creative and filling, and the location convenient but still "an escape." It is right across the street from the famed and beautiful University Arboretum, with trails and boating available. The Inn also offers free bicycles for the trail... More

We stayed here New Year's Eve in an attempt to get out of Milwaukee for the night to enjoy a less boozy NYE in laid back Madison. I've always wanted to stay at the Arbor House & I'm sorry I waited so long to do it. It was totally relaxing. We stayed in the Eco Vista room and enjoyed the... More

Pros: The owner is very nice, and the place in general is nice. Cons: We stayed in the Tap Room. It says on the site that is on the lowest level of the building. We had no idea we were staying in the basement. Very low ceilings. I am 5'8, and it seemed really low. If you are 6' feet... More

To clear this up, the Tap room is on the lowest level of the historic house with two street level windows; this is part of the written description online and illustrated visually with an array of pictures. The ceilings are definitely lower in an 1853 house and unfortunately if our guests were having any misgivings about their room choice (which... More

My partner and I always return to Madison for our anniversary, and we always stay in a bed and breakfast. This was the first year at Arbor House, and we are completely sold. We stayed in the Aldo Leopold room, and enjoyed the sunny exposure and the delightful hot tub with aromatherapy. The family that runs this gem seems to... More

This place is exactly what I look for in a B&B when I'm travelling. Comfortable, not a faux Victorian Disneyland, clean. I'm not looking under beds for stray hairs and dust - I like it to feel homey. Easy to access even when you get in late, nice wholesome breakfast. I don't want to feel fussed over. Wifi. I'm not... More

Visited here with my husband for my birthday last year, and we had a lovely stay. Absolutely loved that their website claimed they were vegan-friendly and I would say that is an understatement. The b&b host didn't offer us a bland substitute to what the other guests were eating, but a feast that held up on it's own. To top... More

Loved the easy access to a great biking trail, the lovely shops and restaurants within walking distance, the lovely spacious room, and wonderful breakfasts. Excellent! Plan on returning! We also enjoyed the lovely common areas.

We stayed here in February and loved it! We were in the studio room (actually two rooms) - very spacious and inviting, with an electric stove. I especially loved the view of trees through the skylight and the wood-walled bathtub. The food was delicious, with both healthy options and treats, and the evening dessert was a nice surprise. We hope... More
